Pain Lvl 1-3 What is this in my partners ear???? NSFW
Anyone know what this is in ear????
Partners ear has been hurting on and off lately. Sometimes he says it feels like water in his ear and makes popping noise when hiccuping or yawning. He looked in his ear with our ear device we have and this is in his ear. It doesn’t move. He put peroxide/water in his ear yesterday to help remove a lot of wax since the doctor said wax can make an ear hurt and afterwards, this sucker shown itself. He did a telehealth appointment before Christmas for a possible ear infection.

Go in today. I won’t speculate on what it could be, but it ain’t supposed to be there. He needs to be seen in person. Good luck.

I said it almost looks like a tick that you would find on a dog, but I think I freaked him out so I didn’t say anything else. He’s going somewhere tomorrow morning when he’s off work.

Smooth part definitely reminds me of a dog tick. Alllll the more reason to just see a provider lol. I think my entire skin would spontaneously peel off if I saw this in my ear.

I was literally coming here to say it looks like a tick

It doesn't match any tick species.
It's a seed.

I agree with this. My first thought was "hmmm, that's not right".

Foreign object, probably some kind of seed. Get it removed in a clinic with alligator forceps(ear instrument) and don't try at home because you may not be successful most of the time and end up injuring the ear.

That is 100% a foreign body that needs immediate professional removal. PCP, UC, or ER ASAP. Your partner is definitely risking permanent damage. And if it gets too stuck in there, it may have to be removed under general anesthesia, which means a much, much larger bill and higher risk in the end.
Personally, I think it's a seed or seed pod of some sort.

He works outside and hunts weekly so that would make sense.

Keep in mind seeds sprout in moist environments. Please don't wait on this. If that thing sprouts, it's a much bigger deal to safely remove.

It looks like a seed, it’s not something that needs to be dealt with out of hours but should probably be removed under a microscope. Make an apt with an ear cleaning place or see your family doctor for a referral to ENT

Im going with a seed/pod as well. Could you give us an update when he finds out?

What part of the world do you live in? You said he works outdoors - doing what? (trimming trees? landscaping? greenhouse? farming? etc.?).Does he have contact with bodies of water outdoors?

It looks like a cyst or cholesteatoma, a foreign body reaction (but it looks like it comes from inside and popped) or a keratoacanthoma which can look like that elsewhere on the skin but would be super rare on the ear drum. Only a ENT doctor can accurately diagnose and treat this. Stop using any homemade treatments, as there’s nothing you can do to treat it on your own and it’s better to avoid any damage.

I’m not a doctor, but that is obviously larva of some type.
If no one here knows, try whatisthisbug on Reddit. If they don’t know, they may know where to ask.
Just a concerned person, you should take him to the doctors or hospital and have it removed.

Very much looks like a seed, to me. Needs to be taken care of immediately. He does not want that sprouting into his ear drum.
