Tryna play mgs4, however my ps3 keeps making this weird printer sound and nothing loads up when I launch it. Ignore the fingerprints, it’s old. Haven’t used this thing in a while.

I got this ps3 slim a yr ago, been trying to use cds on it don't work, on latest version 4.91 what should I do? what's the issue here? I can put it but it doesn't spin, this might be cause my cover dont work for some reason, the cd insert thingy is visible, mb for the dust😭

I had a super slim as a kid and it had broke and i was wondering if its worth buyinga used one nowadays. Idk how to emulate games. Really what i wanna play is split second, motorstorm pacific rift, the og motorstorm. Ik split second is on steam but its apparently a terrible port. Anyways is it worth 100$ for a ps3 super slim?

As long as I can remember, my PS3s froze occasionally. Especially Fallout 3, though that was more of a game issue.

I recently got back into PS3 and have been playing my Slim a lot. Not the super slim the good slim (lol)

Now I have had a fair amount of freezes in different games. It is usually during what seems to be a small loading effort, it will freeze the game, but the audio and whatever sound effect may have been happening will continue to play.

This PS3 slim isn't in bad shape at all. It has been lovingly sitting on my entertainment center next to PS2 and PS4 for years since I got it. Turned on maybe once every month or two for a quick round of BioShock 2 Online or a session of Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time.

But I have been playing it almost every day the past 2 months. And so I am wondering if I'm just noticing the issue more now or if it's sadly starting to die, even though it is in almost like new condition.

I put a SSD in it about a year ago when I was updating and cleaning all of my consoles to accomodate for my larger collection and needs for space. I hadnt seen any issues, if anything improvements, but a lot of info online says my freezing can be caused by a failing drive... but this is one of the supposed "good to go" SSDs for PS3 after community research. It is a nice Samsung drive.

So I'm kinda worried, could my PS3 finally be on it's way out. It doesn't sound or feel like it's overheating at all. The most recent freeze happened like 3 minutes into playing R&C Full Frontal Assault.

I'm kinda wondering now if maybe the SSD was a bad idea. I know it wasn't MADE for them, but they work and are more stable... and a bit quicker to load. But if the freezing issues persist, I'm wondering if maybe I should revert to an HDD for stability.

PS3 working normally in the menu and other applications, but I tried to play Dark Souls 2 and this scary noise came. Does anyone know the cause? Is it very serious?

I want to hange thermal paste in my ps3 because on avrage it showed betwen 70-80 °C

Sadly at the point where you should push the motherboard to you I got stuck because (i think) one of CPUs thermal paste is sooo old they kinda glued.

I don't want to imply force because I saw some old reddit post of people ripping off the cpu with coler

What should I do?

Edit: my ps3 is newer fat model. With that black box idk what it is called. But you probably know what I'm talking about

Yesterday, I tried to play a while to ps3. I have 4 original ps3 controllers and one's White not. Although White IS not original, It worked fine until yesterday, i think battery IS over. I replaced It to a Vaper battery haha. It works perfectly.

1. Find a way to download the ps2/3 games I want

2. Once I find them I put them on my USB Drive

3. Put the USB in my ps3 than I can make sure they stay there so I won’t have to insert the USB over and over again

This morning I played through a game and then it crashed. After shutting the system down and restarting it again it happened like 30mins in (the Photo above) and after that again.

Any ideas what could be the issue? Yesterday it worked just fine for like 12 hours.

Picked these up at a local game store.

Found this in my parents home. Both the glasses don’t charge and the speakers don’t work on the monitor.

I’m a huge fan of ps3 games but honestly I don’t see the value in spending money to repair everything to hook my ps3 up to it. I’m thinking of either using it as a computer monitor since I need a new one…. Or should I sell it?
