Is the Vita worth buying in (current year)?
Value is ultimately subjective. If you like the library of games on the Vita and have the money, probably. If you want new, modern games then probably not. If you have specific questions about the Vita's capabilities feel free to ask in this thread, but keep in mind you're asking in a Vita-centric community and will likely get mostly affirmative responses.
Is the PlayStation store shutting down?
No. Sony did announce they were closing the Vita storefront in 2021, but later reversed that decision. It is possible that the store will be shut down at some point in the future, but no specific dates/timeframes are known.
Can I still buy games from the PlayStation store?
Yes. However, you will need to have funds in your wallet for the purchase. You can add funds to your wallet via web, PS4, or PS5. More information is available here.
I'm having trouble signing into my Vita! Help!
As of the 3.74 update in May 2022, you need a device password to sign in to your Vita. You can do that here. Please make sure you are on firmware 3.74 and using a device password before making a thread.
My Vita is in an error loop with the QR code on sign-in. What should I do?
This happens sometimes, and nobody's really sure why. However, community member LoganN64 has been able to provide instructions that consistently work for getting through this:
Log in to the PSN website with a Laptop or Desktop computer.
Click on your avatar in the top right corner and go to SETTINGS.
Scroll down to SECURITY and then scroll down to ACTIVATE/TURN ON 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.
Click on GENERATE NEW DEVICE CODE, write this down exactly as it is case sensitive.
Go to your Vita and bring up the sign in page, enter the email associated with your account then enter the NEW DEVICE CODE as your password. Click on save password to avoid getting a new code each time..
I'm no longer able to transfer files from PS3 to Vita. What's happening?
This feature was disabled in May 2022. You can read PlayStation's update about it here. No workarounds are currently known.
Where can I buy a Vita?
Vita production ceased in 2019 so consoles can be hard to come by, especially new. eBay is the most prominent location, but Facebook marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist, /r/GameSale, and equivalent marketplaces are your friend.
How much is (X) worth? Is (X) a good deal?
You can search sold eBay listings here to get a sense of value. VGPC is another source of this kind of information.
Will (Game) ever go on sale?
As of 2020, Sony has disabled developers' ability to put Vita games on sale. So in all likelihood, no.
The workaround and exception for this rule is that cross-buy games can still be put on sale for the PS4, and cross-buy items will still grant the Vita version (where applicable).
Should I buy an OLED ("Phat") or Slim Vita?
Neither are bad options. The Slim has 1GB of on-board memory, a more standard charging port, slightly better battery life, and is lighter. The Phat has a better screen. It's up to you on what you value more.
Where can I buy replacement Vita parts?
AliExpress and eBay are currently the best sources of Vita replacement parts.
Are Vita consoles region-free?
Yes. A Vita can play a physical game from any region. The digital storefront you can access is determined by the region of your PSN account, and not the region of the console. For example, a Vita from Japan will be able to play any physical game, and if you sign in with a US PSN account you'll be able to access the US PSN storefront.
Vita consoles from Asian regions have the X/O button swapped in the OS ("bubbles") screen, but in-game functionality retains X-to-confirm functionality for almost all games.
It has been reported that consoles intended for China have more stringent region-locking, but these are not commonly found and this is unlikely to affect you.

I’ve been thinking of swapping out the beat-up black shell on my ps-vita for something else. I’ve looked all over but I can’t find the full housing shell for red like I originally wanted, so I’ve settled on mixing and matching the parts. If anyone can show me some color combos i can use for some inspiration for the ps-vita 1000 I’d really appreciate it!

I'm searching for some games to play with my Gf on my psVita, given that I only own one and I'm looking for some games letting two players share the same device, not necessarily split-screen, but also "turn based" like games, where one player do his things and than gives the device to the other one.

I just got my vita yesterday. I left it to charge all day and it only got to 53%. I read somewhere that it could just be because the vita had been powered off for so long but I’m starting to think that I’ll need to replace the battery. Has anyone had any similar issues? Maybe my charger is faulty?

So I got a second hand vita for Christmas. Seems to work fine. But the screen is pretty badly scratched up and the case is a bit busted.
I'd like to get some parts to both replace the screen and the case. I've been looking at pricing and I've seen some cheaper parts on Ali express. However I haven't had great luck with the psp parts I bought in the past.
Just wondering if Ali express parts would work or should I invest in something pricier elsewhere?

I had to factory reset my psvita since the region it was in china (mainland china) when I factory reset the console I thought that fixed the problem but when I was on the "select your country/region of residence" the only thing it showed was china Anyone got a solution thanks

I just charged my Vita last night because it wasn’t turning on. Today, when I tried turning it on, it still didn’t work. So I hooked it back to the charger, and the charging indicator flashed red, but it’s still not turning on.
Edit: I was finally able to turn it on, it had a full battery and worked perfectly. I did reset it just to check if it had any issues but it was fine. However, when I turned it off, I was back to the original problem which was I can’t turn it on.
What should I do?

I have bought both of them and I can say that left grip is way more comfortable, you can play hours without problem. The other one your hands hurts after a while. Sometimes the cheapest option is the best

I was wondering if anyone had the same or a similar problem with other games.
I wanted to check out the Steamworld games on the Vita (Dig, Dig 2 and Heist) so I bought them via the Vita store and, while the licenses correctly appeared on the PS4, they are nowhere to be found on the download list on the Vita, making the games impossible to be downloaded and played on the system.
I reached to the PlayStation support and they basically told me that they are not able to tell me why the problem occurred since the PS Vita store is no longer supported. And, they added, while the store is on and you can purchase games on it, they are not able to do anything if something like that happens, other than giving refunds.

Now, I am both annoyed by the state of the Vita store and also wondering how many games on the store are affected by this problem, since I wanted to check some other Vita ports (for example The Binding of Isaac).
Has someone made a list of such cases? Or is this problem relatively contained to a small number of games?

I think my vita is having a hard time charging. I have it powered on but when I plug in the charger the charging logo at the top right comes on but then dissappear after a minute or so and doesn't appear to be charging anymore. It's the same with 2 different charging cords. Is this a common issue? It's a gift for someone so I want to get it working right, so I don't give him a messed up vita.its a 1000 series vita btw.
