Open goal allows me to play jak 2 at a native 5120x1440p @ 240fps. Looks stunning on my OLED display.

I just completed Jak X after a week of Jak and Daxter marathon. This was my first encounter with the serier and i'm blown away ā” First Jak gave me a lot of fun with collecting all the stuff, good platforming and fun characters. It feelt like playing mix of crash bandicoot and mario 64 with unique characters. Jak 2 had a harsh start for me. I couldn't get used to GTA like style of gameplay and mandatory racing missions gave me a hard time early on. Even tho after something like 3 hours it clicked and I had fun till the end(minus 1 iritating escort mission in sewers). Also i love new characters, especialy Sig. Jak 3 was more of the same but more polished imo. PÅot twists were kinda cool and jumping between war front city and mad max like desert is imo very refreshing. Jak X is the biggest surprise for me tho. I don't remember when I had this much fun with arcade racing game ^ Javelin X carried me to the end ā” I played it all on ps5 and it took me: Jak and Daxter - ~10h Jak 2 - 12h30 Jak 3 - 9h27 Jak X - 9h18 I'd love to see continuation of Jak X but ehhh this probably won't ever happend... Still i had great time with those games and I can honestly sey that they are one of my most favourite ^

To my esteemed colleagues and fellow eco guardians,
Today, I wish to direct your attention to a mystery that has been gnawing at me (and I wonāt hide it): how that oaf Jak and his chatty little rodent managed to gather the white and black eco crystals to save the world ā all without, in my opinion, fully understanding what they were doing.
It all began at the Monk Temple, nestled in the Wasteland. An ancient sanctuary, said to have been built in the earliest days by our enigmatic Precursors. Today, this place is safeguarded by Seem and her Golden Order of monks from Spargus. They study black eco, white eco, and the ancient war that once pitted the Precursors against the Dark Makers.
Mar, that time-traveling founder of Haven City, once adorned the temple with his very own seal. A clear indication that this site ā and the wells of eco it holds ā bears the mark of his legacy. A legacy that Jak, that impatient young man, appears to be the final heir to.
Mar and Jak share one significant trait: balance. Balance between shadow (black eco) and light (white eco), symbolized by Marās seal. Alas, such nobility didnāt stop Veger, that self-absorbed count, from feeling robbed by the prophecy. You see, an immense power was said to be destined for the āfuture champion of the Precursors,ā and Veger immediately self-appointed himself as the only one worthy of the title. To achieve his goals, he tasked Seem with a mysterious "job".
This job was undeniably connected to the Catacombs, A place that, according to legend, leads to the Precursor Planet Seed.
"The deep place where the planet was first formed by the ancient ones."
Jak 3 Design Bible
It is said that the Precursors raised Mar there, granting him extraordinary power to save the world in ages past. Veger sought to replicate this feat, to eliminate the Dark Makers and solidify his so-called legitimacy.
The catch? Activating the Precursor technology within the Catacombs required the union of eight crystals: four white eco and four black eco. And as far as we know, the Dark Makers themselves were dropping their black crystals from those abominable satellites that crashed onto the planet.
EDIT: or they were likely using those satellites as scouts, searching for the eco crystals across the planet.
Erol, their ally, wasted no time mobilizing his Metal Heads to hunt these artifacts. Meanwhile, Seem dispatched her monks (and Jak, incidentally) to counter their plans.
Our Jak eventually recovered the final crystal from Erolās floating KG War Factory. But hereās where things take a peculiar turn: upon Jakās return from the factory, the Eco Sphere ā the mysterious sphere formed by the fusion of all eight crystals ā appeared in the inventory without any explanation. As if, poof, with a snap of some cosmic fingers, the forces of white and black eco decided to merge into a single sphere.
And so here we are: Veger boasts of being the only one who knows the true fusion process, suggesting that this mysterious ājobā given to Seem was to uncover the ritual key for uniting the crystals. Yet itās Jak who wields the sphereā¦ while Veger grumbles in the shadows. Letās just say thereās an eco-logical gap here (and perhaps a narrative gap, too, if weāre being honest).
Could there have been sequences, cut due to time and budget constraints, where Jak would have had to learn from Onin, Seem, or Samos, how to awaken the Catacombs without Vegerās help? Perhaps a series of missing missions, an arc where our heroes wrestled with doubts about the methodā¦ Who knows? The mysteries of game development are often thicker than a cloud of Dark Eco spores.
Still, itās clear that once in the Catacombs, Jak does use the Eco Sphere to activate the Precursor technology.
A planetary defense system comes online, unleashing a concentrated burst of black and white eco from the very core of the planet, aimed at that accursed Dark Maker ship. No less than living proof that the sphere was indeed the key.
And yet, despite all this, many questions remain. What was the true nature of the job given to Seem? What were Erol and the Dark Makers planning to do with the crystals? How did Jak manage to fuse them into the sphere?
For my part, I could debate these details for another thousand years: after all, I age like a fine barrel of sap. But now, I turn the floor over to you, noble defenders of the eco. What are your theories? Let us unravel this together.

I remembered getting Jak 2 for my 9th birthday and was so stoked because I Jak and Daxter was the first game I got with my PS2, don't get me wrong Jak 2 was very hard at points but I did beat it. Now replaying the trilogy at 30 I just can't for the life of me with this game lol I just keep going back 100% the first one because I'm stubborn and don't wanna skip to 3 without beating 2

Hey all, I'm loving OpenGOAL right now and was wondering if there's a way to play the cutscenes in an ultrawide resolution? I would ask on the Discord but I tried joining and it's being weird.

I started a 100% plat run of Jak 2. It's something I have wanted to do since I played it back on my PS2 as a kid. I have played through the story dozens of times and have done Precursor Legacy and Jak 3 platinum in the past so I thought this would be a breeze.
WRONG.
This game broke me. I got all the precursor orbs, upgrades etc. up until the Metal Head nest and did most of the Side Missions. I had 3 left. Ring races. I tried all three maybe 20 times and just couldn't do it. I genuinely could not take it. I quit playing for a couple days because it was so off-putting. I came back and tried again but just ended up an even more frustrated shell of my past self. So, out of spite of this bullshit game and it's evil developers I used the debug menu to get the final orbs.
I win. ME.
I love this game but actually fuck this game. I'm never doing this to myself again.

I hope it isn't as bad as everyone says but given how this game has fucked me up so much already, I can tell it's gonna be horrible, yippee!!
EDIT: Bruh I just finished it in 10mins and I only died once because I was careless and got hit by a laser. This is the easiest mission I've done in this game...

im plating through daxter for the first time right now and escaping the prison. im at the point of using the flamethrower jetpack to rotate the platforms above dark eco, and they wont do anything but twitch and not rotate. ive tried countless times, and watched a handful of videos of people effortlessly hovering above the platform with the flame on to make them spin. i have no idea what im doing wrong here. has anyone else experienced this or found a work around? ive actually been having fun with this game and would hate to quit 70% though. tried to find an answer for this already and failed, my bad if its already been asked
