Discussion Why haven’t more games used adaptive triggers to imitate trigger stops?

Upvotes

Just curious, what games have already done it? I mean looking at the things you can do with the adaptive triggers on DS5s, this would be the least you can do for FPS or fighting games.

I know they won’t really be trigger “stop”s but for someone like me who’s very light with the controllers I think it would be a very intuitive and obvious thing to have. Even if it sucks, wouldn’t hurt to have the option, right?

EDIT: By trigger stops with adaptive triggers I didn’t mean the whole implementation like in Ratchet and Clank. Rather I meant quick activation stops, like in the Dualsense Edge if that makes sense.

EDIT 2: I know that in DS Edge it’s a hardware implementation, not with adaptive triggers. I’m saying about the idea of “imitating” that instant trigger activation stops with adaptive triggers.

Discussion I know I'm late on this but I just finished TLOU2 and it was hands down the greatest game I've ever played.

3.0k Upvotes

If the point of entertainment is to excite the senses and make me feel things and to escape the everyday, then nothing has ever done it like this game.

I spent a ton of time thinking about it during my workday. During the month or so it took me to play it, I took 2 days, not consecutive, off work! I didn't even tell my wife. I sat on the couch and played all fucking day long! It was the best. Except the next day I beat myself up about it and felt like an asshole all day, lol.

Some things I loved about the game were that it forced me to play in ways I wouldn't. I like to sneak and would do everything that way but there's parts where you just can't and they're exciting.

There were parts I couldn't play alone. I grabbed my son and he sat there scared with me while I played.

I laughed and cried and felt quite a few more emotions in between. If it was just a show, I would have loved it for that.

Even after playing the first and having high expectations for the 2nd, it still blew me away. I was aware that they were trying to get me to sympathize with Abby and I resisted. But it still happened. Not so long into it I began thinking "Abby is not really so bad a person". Then by the end I'm yelling " Ellie no, don't do it!".

And when I was fighting Tommy, it never once occurred to me that it was him and I was surprised and it was awesome.

I loved everything about it and couldn't really come up with any negatives. It was a masterpiece. The pinnacle of all gaming for me. I couldn't say enough great things about it and I'm excited to see what else is out there from Naughty Dog.

Tldr: I fucking loved it and can't wait to see what else this studio has to offer.

Discussion Received PSVR2 as gift. What do I NEED to check out?

I got the PSVR2 for Christmas. So far I've played some free titles. A kayak game was not great, a coaster game made me a little nauseous.

I really enjoyed the Drums Rock demo as well as Pistol Whip.

The bundle came with the VR Horizon game which I've enjoyed as well but also makes me slightly nauseous after more than 30 minutes.

What games are mind-blowingly immersive for the system? Which games would you recommend?

Edit: Thank you all so much for the suggestions! It's a lot more than I expected, and I don't ever post to reddit, so the notifications are a bit overwhelming, lol.

Checking out some of the suggestions tonight!

Discussion Almost 3 years later, the PS Plus Premium's Classic Catalog is still very lacking

In June 2022 the PS Plus Premium's Classic Catalog was added, adding classic PS1 ,PS2,PSP PS3 games etc;. I expected Sony to continue to add to this but so far, it's been very disappointing.

I get it. Licensing and porting can be a pain. A toaster can run ps1 games and I should just emulate them. Sometimes I am happy perfectly happy paying for a copy for my PS5

An advantage sony has is it rich history of games. Can they just add them to the store? If companies like Capcom, Square, and Sega, and even Disney can all do an amazing job of porting their PS1 games to the store why can't Sony?

Another annoying thing is when I pay for PS3 game and I can't download on PS5. Example I paid for a game called War of the Monsters , it's a PS2 game. I can't redownload it on my PS5, I can only rebuy a PS4 version.

Hope Sony fixes this all soon
