Discussion Why haven’t more games used adaptive triggers to imitate trigger stops?

Upvotes

Just curious, what games have already done it? I mean looking at the things you can do with the adaptive triggers on DS5s, this would be the least you can do for FPS or fighting games.

I know they won’t really be trigger “stop”s but for someone like me who’s very light with the controllers I think it would be a very intuitive and obvious thing to have. Even if it sucks, wouldn’t hurt to have the option, right?

EDIT: By trigger stops with adaptive triggers I didn’t mean the whole implementation like in Ratchet and Clank. Rather I meant quick activation stops, like in the Dualsense Edge if that makes sense.

EDIT 2: I know that in DS Edge it’s a hardware implementation, not with adaptive triggers. I’m saying about the idea of “imitating” that instant trigger activation stops with adaptive triggers.

News & Announcements PSA: Does your R2 feel stuck/heavy when you shoot? Do this.

Saw a lot of threads on here with people saying their controller is broken and they had to get a new one because their R1 and R2 buttons don't feel the same, specifically when they are playing a game that involves shooting. There's nothing wrong with the controller, it's a setting called Trigger Effect Intensity, where there's tension and forced applied on your controller when you are shooting in games. To turn it off go to:

Settings>Accessories>Controller>Trigger Effect Intensity>OFF

Discussion I changed my fan on the pro from a Delta to a Foxconn and it's quiet(er)

I'm hoping this post will help somone else out who thinks the fan on their pro is loud. I would have posted it in the ps5pro sub but for some reasaon, I can't make threads over there.

I swapped out my PS5 pro fan for a foxconn fan and indeed, it's quieter! My og fan was a delta.

Don't get me wrong, this new fan is not 'whisper quiet.' However, I would say it's sounds maybe 30% quieter?

I used a decibel app on my phone but I don't how useful that is. The reading on that versus the old fan is showing around 4 db's lower on average.

I have a couple of videos of old V new but it can be hard to tell the difference over video. Anyway, I'm happy that I swapped it out. Worth the small cost.

Discussion Silent Hill 2: I'm 30 Hours in & at 50% Progress

Is it just me, or does the game feel like it's dragging on? Too many puzzles and locked doors without anything interesting going on. I just left the hospital and was shocked when I checked my progress that it was 50%. At this point I just want to get it over with so I can play another game.

Does it get better for the remaining 50%? Or should I just move on?

Discussion What happened to Pixeljunk Eden 2??

I just found out today that the game existed in the first place. I couldn't believe it. So imagine my hype when I saw it had been announced on the PS5. Then I look on the PS store and it says "announced" and all I can do it add it to my wishlist.

Um, where's the game for PS5??? Why is so hard to find info on it? What happened?

Discussion Kid friendly driving game supported by wheel controller?

Hi all,

Can someone recommend an easy to learn driving game for kids that has supports wheel controllers?

I have a 10yo that loves the driving games in arcades, but on the ps5 pro, using the normal controller is too much for them (tried a kid friendly one like Lego 2k) - probably due to their ADHD struggles of keeping track of a lot of buttons in a fast paced setting.

I tried a wheel controllers (G923), and a supported game (Wreckfest), but she got super frustrated very quickly as she really struggled with both under and oversteering. Lots of spinouts and tears.

So.. I know that it takes time to learn how to drive “properly” in racing sims, but I don’t have that luxury with my kid.

They don’t seem to have the same struggles in the arcades, so is there any game out there where they would similarly not need to worry about oversteering and spinning out a lot?

Discussion Received PSVR2 as gift. What do I NEED to check out?

I got the PSVR2 for Christmas. So far I've played some free titles. A kayak game was not great, a coaster game made me a little nauseous.

I really enjoyed the Drums Rock demo as well as Pistol Whip.

The bundle came with the VR Horizon game which I've enjoyed as well but also makes me slightly nauseous after more than 30 minutes.

What games are mind-blowingly immersive for the system? Which games would you recommend?

Edit: Thank you all so much for the suggestions! It's a lot more than I expected, and I don't ever post to reddit, so the notifications are a bit overwhelming, lol.

Checking out some of the suggestions tonight!

Discussion Is Astro Bot really that good?

I thought Astro's Playroom was great and was shocked it was free. It didn't hold my attention all the way through though and I'm not sure I ever beat it.

Now with Astro Bot receiving so much praise and on sale, I'm wondering if this is a no brainer to pick up. I am not a pro gamer by any means but I also don't consider myself a weekend gamer or casual.

I love good combat in games but I also started in the 80s/90s so good platforming is a huge draw for me but I think platforming alone can be hard to hold attention through a full game.

Is this varied enough to hold your attention and warrant $50? I searched around for these topics but most threads ended up discussing gaming philosophy and trends more.

Thanks in advance and happy holidays

EDIT: thanks everyone, downloading now!

Discussion Multiplayer game without being online at the same time?

Hey everyone. I have a friend from the other side of the world, we would love to play a game together but since the different time zones are huge, it's hard for us to actually find the time to play together.

We almost bought "Palworld" since we thought we could play together on the same world and interact with each other bases while the other is offline. Sadly this only works if the host IS ONLINE.

Are there any multiplayer games on PlayStation that you can share a world with a friend, both progressing at their own pace and time, yet still be connected and impacted by the others actions. Playing as a team or against each other.

Hopefully someone can help me.
