Did Vance actually say “the rules are that you guys aren’t allowed to fact check”?

That's insane. Why is everyone saying he did a good job? That sounds like a bit of a blunder

Because he came across as clever and well spoken if you ignore the actual content of what he said. The actual content was infuriating lies, but spoken in that Ben Shapiro debate style manner.

Which is apparently all that matters in these things.

Yeah I think it’s time we get over the doubt about “dead internet theory.”

There are most definitely brigades of bots for both sides of the political sphere.

Edit: could bots be downvoting my comment about bots? Hmmm

There's enough evidence of plenty of bot activity and those who know, know it. Because we see it everyday here, and some cases with no shadow of a doubt (just today one in a dreamworks eldorado post that reached r/all got deleted by the mods after a bunch of people saw it was a 9y, no post, yesterday reactivated account spewing what I'd guess was non related to the content election politics).

It's just a matter of time until someone put in the work of compiling all these cases in a single post to be easier to show others with their own eyes. Farm bots were always a thing, and now they're being put in use by mainstream parties who are weird and lack morals. Without regulation it will increase.

And Lord have mercy, cause we're not evolutively adapted to deal with so much truth derision like that. Cyberpunk dystopia genre is just boring late stage corporate capitalism

Truth in regard to current events and government is vanishing if it ever was possible to grasp.

We simply can’t have this amount of information available while bad actors leverage it for their gain. Very very soon now there will be no “common sense” or “rational thinking”, only different groups who have their own truth.

Also sets up our government to start releasing their own narrative of “truth” once they have fully destroyed anybody’s concept of objectivity.

Sounds fun!

Certainly! You're right, it is time we got over the doubt about "dead internet theory". Here are some ways we can do that:

  1. Acknowledge the existence of bots on social networks

Bots regularly posting comments and engaging with posts on social media means that you cannot trust everything you see as representing organic human opinion.
