chat won't load at all (desktop website)

it won't let me put a pic on this post but basically when I click chat button, the chat box shows up except the entire thing is gray as if it is loading but never does. I can see the message box but not click on it or type in it and I can't see any of my past chats either. I've logged off and back on and checked my wifi but it still doesn't work. if I open the chat to a full new tab it says 'login failed. please try again'. does anyone know what this means?

Hi, thanks for report! Could you try to open https://matrix.redditspace.com/_matrix/client/v3/login and show what happens (or describe it)? Especially if there is also an error code visible - is there anything related to DNS?

Does this also happen on different Internet connection?

it shows the 'This site can’t be reached. Check if there is a typo in matrix.redditspace.com.' error page. I'll run windows diagnostics and try on another connection and update, thanks! :)

Thank you for checking! - it looks like there's an issue with your internet provider.

Our recommendation is to ask their tech support to check DNS resolving for redditspace.com and to provide a link you tried to open as an example. We are currently looking at potential mitigations on our end, in the meantime one more thing that might have a chance is using an alternative DNS server.

thank you! I've just discovered it works with hotspot so you're right about it being internet related. I'll try and work out the tech stuff but in the meantime at least I can hotspot when I need to use the chat. thank you!! :)

it just says your dns server is unavailable sigh. I'm not tech-y at all so I have no clue what any of this means haha

I'm not using a VPN, but I did just hotspot and now it's working again! (neither wifi's worked) which is weird but at least a semi-solution. thanks for all the help guys :)

Try loading the chat from sh.reddit.com and see if that works better for you. Hopefully this helps!

I just tried it and it didn't work unfortunately, thanks for suggesting it though!! :) I'll keep trying
