đŹ Discussion Any goals/ideas for 2025?
Here are mine.
Be mindful of my diet. Cut out any sugar, carbs, fat as much as possible. Iâm 29M so I figure nowâs the time to start watching my weight and diet, although I am healthy.
Go back to counseling. Itâs not for everyone, but in my case life was a lot better when I was seeing a therapist. I recommend it to anyone whoâs on the fence about it.

Regarding the scoliosis itâs very possible. I was diagnosed in 2021 when I was 12/13, had like a 22 degree curve. I wore a brace for the next 2 years, and at the start of this year, my curve reduced to 3 degrees.
Idk how old you are, but if youâre a teen, youâve got this

I tried to change it during my teens, but due to various reasons decided to just attend the massage therapys, didn't even research more about the braces, but it do look quite uncomfortable... Seeing how long it took for you, I was quite naive to think I could fix it within a year, Ig I need to hurry consult with the doctor as soon as possibleđ„Č Thank you for sharing your storyđ„čđ

Hey, i just wanted to chime in real quick. personally, i was born with scoliosis and wore a brace from age 2 to 15. the braces are most effective while you're still growing since your bones are not as soft anymore once you stop growing. however, physical therapy is a very useful tool which i would highly recommend (i started going when i was 2 months old and it has helped me tremendously, still does), as well as the schroth therapy (there are physical therapists that are specialised in that). you might even be able to go to a rehab center for all of this but it depends on your insurance and all that.

you have to be careful with the exercises you do in the gym as well because since your spine is curved, your muscles are probably not âin the right placeâ either (thatâs the case for me at least), so training all muscles the same amount could be counterproductive but i recommend to talk to a doctor and/or physical therapist about that because it just depends on your individual case đ€

I love the energy and hunger to improve yourself! I already know 2025 is going to be your year. I do want to express that Iâm just worried that those are a lot of goals at once with really high standards. It might be better to start with smaller, tangible goals to gain some momentum and feel confident about tackling the others. When people have that many big goals it tends to come from a place of âiâm going to change my life nowâ all-or-nothing mentality but really that just sets us up for failure because life is a spectrum with its ebbs and flows and you wonât fix everything at once no matter how disciplined. But continued efforts over a long period of time and your life will be become everything you envisioned and then some! So maybe instead of âlosing 35 kgâ try setting micro-goals for how youâre going to get there. For example, âexercise daily. Count macros and stay at a 100 kcaloric-deficit every day.â or instead of âlearn to cookâ you can try âbuy a cookbook and learn one new meal for each dinner.â The last advice i have is that our cute little human brains have a much easier time not getting overwhelmed by goals if theyâre broken into smaller goals on a shorter timeframe. For example, â50 books in 2025â can be broken down into â3 books in Januaryâ once you get 3 why not go for 4 in february, itâs only just one more, etc. Anyways you already did the hardest part by looking within yourself and figuring what you want out of it! So proud of you. You got this.

First of all I would like to express the graditude for your encouragement and suggestions, I truly appreciate your advicesđ„čđ It was my first time "planning", ended up writing down everything that I didn't like and needed to change in myself currently, or just study, the list was even bigger, erased some personal and weird ones before commenting hahađ You are absolutely right, even I didn't actually believe I could do so when listing them in my notes app, especially now that I am "demotivated" from "trying to start", only after seeing this post, remembered about my "abitions", that I've tossed aside believing I would eventualy continue one day for/in 2025...? now that I think of it, I already have the all-or-nothing mentality that you've mentioned haha...đ
And I like the idea of breaking it in smaller habits, its much better to fulfil, it looks more... achievable? I should've thought about it before, but I always believed a year is a great deadline to change ones life completelyđ„Č I will once again take a look at the goals, and try to divide it into smaller habbits like you've suggested, your comment made me think from the aspects that I never thought sođââïž I will definetly take your advice, and thank you for such warm words, suggestions... I realy appreciate itđđ

What helped me tremendously for my scoliosis was Block Therapy out of Canada. Working with my fascia changed my body completely.

Its not something you'll hear of, I hardly know of anyone that knows about it. I got turned onto it by a friend- I worked on the 90 day posture resets and lower body- my family is what noticed that they can't tell I have scoliosis when I stand (it use to be a bit noticable in my hunched shoulders). I would say the transformation was probably over a year. I also started going to the gym and that recently I've felt had a positive affect but I dont think would have been affective without first getting my fascia in alignment! :)

I've been building habits slowly. Once I master a new one for 2 months I add another. My first one cut porn use down to 30 mins/week on a specific day+time, then I added in getting up early 6 days/week. My next one will be reading 3 days/week for at least an hour each time; I'm still trying to figure out the best days+times so I can be consistent. Over the next year I want to:
- scale back my phone use to specific times/day
- cultivate a more robust+consistent home calisthenics routine
- have specific days+times for organizing+cleaning my clutter/apartmentÂ
- have specific days+times for my hobbies and creative pursuits
It takes time for each of these things to become habits which is why I'm doing them 2 months at a time. So far so good. Â

You should look at the book atomic habits. I'm working so hard on cutting porn, it's not easy especially when the cues are everywhere. I have also noticed I watch porn when I am stressed from work. I am proud of you. Also, do you think there is a link between frequent porn use/masturbation and ADHD?

Yup, read it twice, great book. Love the systems and identity change concepts. I think there could be a link to ADHD but for me, learning that has been less important than simply reducing harm. I'm a big fan of harm reduction approaches to tackling vices; allowing yourself a small outlet for urges (sleeping in, porn, etc) but having 80-90% of the time devoted to healthier habits. I can only speak for me, but it's the only thing that has worked long-term. Â

That's great to hear that has worked for you. I believe I have a very addictive personality. So total elimination of cues within my room has been a game changer. Sure you cannot totally eliminate sexual cues in our world today. What other books do you think have helped you?

You know, I actually get most of my fresh ideas from podcasts. I'd like to say they're from books which is a big reason why I want to make reading more a habit. I once heard on a podcast the idea of thinking of your ideal day and working backwards/out from there to design your best life. I liked that because all the work we're doing really is in an effort to live well on a daily basis. I like structure a lot and like using a week (Monday-Sunday) as a realistic framework in which to build new habits. What books have helped you besides Atomic Habits?

2025:
- Graduate with my doctorate in April - yeah!
- Retire from the classroom and move to online teaching, contracts, consulting and more writing gigs. (I am 60)
- Train for a 12 km swim in August.
- Complete a series of 6 swims 2 km to 12 km)
- Compete in 6 triathlons sprint and olympics (series)
- Read more and learn more.
- Be as kind and generous as possible.
- Do more volunteer and service work.
- My habits already: wake up at 430 am, train 90 minutes a day, fast till noon, drink 2-3 litres of water a day, take my vitamins, eat clean 80 percent of the time and bed by 9 pm.
- Spend even more time with grand kids and family.

I just started waking up at 5am, I am turning 26. I can tell you, my productivity has gone up quite a bit and I seem to be getting a hang of this adulting thing. You are inspirational.

Start nowâŠdonât wait till 1/1/25. Build the habit, so come New Years youâre off on the right foot. Too many people wait for 1/1 like itâs a ânew yearâ. Every day is a new day and the start of a new year if you want it enough.

Spend money only on things I need to. Rent, utilities, food. Put the remainder of my income info savings.
Track my spending. Ironically, I just bought a notebook go track my spending and see what a lot of my stupid purchases are. So far itâs really helped me to see my patterns of spending money and to reevaluate those purchases and ask if I truly need it.
DOWNSIZE. I own so much stuff. So many clothes and yet I only wear the same items over and over. Everything else is going to thrift store. Books I bought second hand in HIGH SCHOOL that Iâve never read: thrift store. Some of my collectibles. Purses and bags. Shoes. Craft supplies Iâve been hoarding and realistically wonât use. Uh CC ccccccccccccccccccccc da z I I

Try carnivore 3 mo solid (Iâm in mo 1 now)
Follow my newly designed workout routine for 3 mo solid then adjust-Iâm still working out some wrinkles.
Drink only on weekends
6pm put my phone down and be present to my family or just enjoy nondigital time to myself.
(To piggy back on 4) Read and/or write every evening.

The classics but to be specific:
- Finally get rid of all debt (except mortgage). I haven't seen green numbers on my bank account since i became a parent many years ago, as wife can't work yada yada.
- Regular exercise. I realized my only realistic chance to do that is during my lunch brake. So i recently switched gyms to the one nearest to the office and made a plan for january.
- More sleep. As my personal free time is very limited sleep is basically 7 to 8 hours of sleep minus any minute of free time i want to have. Recently i've been grinding on 5 to 6 hours of sleep and it is starting to show :-/
- Less alcohol. I keep track of my consumption and i realized due to eating out, christmas gatherings etc i drink almost every day. Thats not the path i want to be on...

- Get fit again. 2020 was the most toned I ever was but then I stopped working out. I want to get strong af again.
- Build my business. Looking to get 2-3 new clients a month and hire some help.
- Focus on art and modeling again. I was so busy with work this year that I dropped all my hobbies. I'd like to start them again and be consistent.
- Build my dream room and bathroom. My space has been a work in progress for the last 2 years and I'm focused on carefully curating my space.
- Get a piano.
- Hit a six figure income.
- Pay off all my debt.
- Build my savings and IRA.

Iâve gained 60 lbs over the last 10 years. In the last two years Iâve had a host of health problems. Iâm getting this turned around this year. Already on it. Dropped 5 pounds this week.

way to get back into counseling. It's been great in life. Even once I've gotten to a "good" place, I try to keep going once every couple of months to make sure I'm still on top of things.

This year I wasnât actively planning and living my life, I had to graduate and get a job and then adjust to moving to a new city, but next year I want to be more creative, read more books, start running, and hopefully start drawing or painting just for fun

In 2025, I want to work on becoming less introverted, timid, and shyâessentially anything tied to those traits. I want to feel confident putting myself out there without the fear of being nervous or judged. My goal is to remain reserved but develop the skills to communicate with others as effortlessly as an extrovert. I want to be able to engage with strangers comfortably, no matter the situation. (if anyone has any tips i would appreciate them and take them into consideration!)

Plans for 2025:
- Yoga a couple of times a week
- More time outside (and not just on sunny days)
- Continuing therapy, even if I'm "feeling better" about the original issue I started therapy for
- Make time for my own hobbies/interests
In December of 2025 I turn 40(!!) and I definitely want to start my next decade of life loving myself and giving myself the forgiveness and grace I give others.

Not sure yet. Part of my problem is trying to do too much, and then disappointing myself when I donât make enough progress on sky high expectations. So this year, I made a list of ten things I want to work on. I wrote each personal goal on a Post-It and folded it up. Then, beginning ten days out from the New Year, I burn one each night and let that goal go, at least for now. Whatever Iâm left with on NYE will be my singular focus in 2025.
