I'm at 118 minutes, so deciding if I want to refund.

I enjoy RPGs and open worlds, especially ones that have lots of things to find and explore, and where you become more powerful as you do so.

Maybe I'm just not good at souls-like games, but the timing of everything seems to be arbitrary. Sometimes I feel like I see an enemy make a move and it's slow, and other times they triple hit me with no warning.

I am at what is essentially the start of the game by this big gate. There is a big monster guy through the gate I was able to get to about 1/2 health before I died. The other direction is a little encampment of soldiers where I snuck around and backstabbed a number of them, but then the captain guy kicked my ass. I have tried about 10 times to kill the captain and no matter how I try to roll, I end up flat footed and he comes in with a triple strike.

I've increased Vigor 2 times so far, and I figure I can kind of "farm" this little area and increase a bit more, but I doubt it'll be enough to really help much, and it'll just make my future upgrades for damage that much more expensive.

There are a zillion guides online, but most of them are about where to go and what to do and they assume you're not getting killed by the first enemies you meet.

I played some Dark Souls and got to 4 kings before the edition I had basically shut down, and I've played a lot of Monster Hunter which has "slow weapons" but I am wondering if maybe this just isn't going to click. I kept hearing that "even if you don't like soulslike games this is still accessible" and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Edit; thanks for the massive amount of feedback and tips :) I'm going to keep it and explore in the other direction and stop using "RPG logic" where I feel like I have to fight every enemy I see cause they might have something good or whatever. It was $35 which isn't nothing, but that's the same as a bottle of whiskey which is no good for my health anyway so I'll skip drinking for a while and make myself lightheaded with the game instead :)

These are what is considered 100,000+ difficulty. Difficulty is linear and measures the expected amount of time, including all losses, to win a board. Expert is considered 50 difficulty, so the time to beat 100k should be around the time to win 2k expert games. These were my three most soul-crushing losses along the way and the eventual win. never owned an Xbox or its controller before, but my wife went all out and got me a customized Elite Series 2 for my PC!!! She just put all customizations and goodies cuz she didn't know what is good or what I needed

Which one(s) stand out the most?

I love the art style, and turn-based RPGS, but Im not interested in playing a 13 year old child in school. Are there any games like that?

I just finished playing ASTLIBRA and it has a ton of different progression systems.

1. You're character can level up
2. Gear can get mastered
3. Gems can be used to unlock skills
4. Extra trinket slots can be unlocked to wield more gear
5. Different orb types based on enemies killed can be used to upgrade stats
6. A balancing scale can be used on items to gain passive stats
7. An RNG drop system similar to looters with different tiers of loot (like common, uncommon, rare, and legendary chests).

Other games I can think of with lots of progression systems.

1. Borderlands series
2. Fromsoftware games

Looking for other games with a lot of different ways to progress your character and become powerful. The more ways to get strong the better. Single player games where you can grind a ton of different things to get better. Not looking for the MMOs.

Personal preference for medieval fantasy adventures, but just about anything will do. Fire away!

With the Christmas sales falling upon us, I think it's time for me to be shopping for new games and I was wondering if people could give their thoughts on the game and help me pick. On a tight budget right now (have travel coming up) so will have to limit my spending to $60/$70. I own both a PC/PS5 so am happy to hear recommendations on which platform I should get the game on.

i. Bloodborne - Recently got a PS5 and after finishing Nine Sols, I think I've built an appetite for more difficult games. Of course I'm happy to be told that Bloodborne is way harder and Nine Sols is not an appropriate gauge for said appetite

ii. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon - This has been on my Steam Wishlist for like forever and I think I finally want to give the game the shot it deserves. Gameplay footage looks really neat and the game looks pretty different from what I've played recently.

iii. Signalis - Seems like a really cool survivor horror. Steam recommended it to me as something similar to Dead Space. I really like the aesthetic and the atmosphere the game invokes.

iv. Zephon - Seems like a really good turn based strategy game. Similar to Civilization but with less emphasis on Civ building and more on combat.

v. Horizon: Forbidden West - I absolutely loved the first Horizon game so have high expectations for this one.

After playing through Signalis, I've slowly come to realise that I love games with stories, but I don't like games with long drawn out cinematics.

Is anyone else the same? Does anyone have any good recommendations for games with a similar story telling methods to Signalis?

I have 2 controllers each and its becoming a hastle to rotate my cord between all 4, especially since i have a habit of swapping between consoles randomly, not realizing i didn't charge the last controller i used/the one im trying to use.

Hi, everyone! Does anyone have tips to reduce the input delay on my Xbox controller? It’s from the X/S series. I’ve tried connecting it with a USB-C cable to my phone, but it didn’t make much difference. I mainly notice it in Codm and Fortnite

I like to chill and have fun. I know the souls like games are massive but the last thing I want to do at the end of the die is have a heart attack trying to defeat enemies.

I like to be able to pummel through enemies and all the while making me feel like a badass.

Been playing a lot more shooters recently and I’ve realized I usually do a subpar job when playing as a sniper. It is difficult for me to track heads, follow a moving target, and consistently landing shots no matter the game. Currently, I’m trying to main Black Widow in Marval Rivals but I feel that I’m not performing as best as I could. I’ve tried sniping in games like TF2, Battlefield 5, and Overwatch to varying levels of success. How do you guys train to improve in reaction time and hand eye coordination for sniping in video games?

Possible spoilers for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: I’ve enjoyed playing this game very much, and I play it on maximum difficulty. The Vatican level is insanely awesome. I loved it. The Egypt level is also great, and the Himalayas with the battleship and especially the Shanghai fighter plane chase was really cool. Unfortunately, now that I’m on the Siam level, I have encountered so many bad glitches, it’s just really shitty. This makes it hard to recommend the game. The temple runs through the great snake pyramid and the later temple are fucked up and borderline unplayable. They need to fix this game. So glitchy.

Sometimes, Indy would stop climbing the whip for no reason, even though the ledge was right there. He wouldn’t reach it. One time I had to restart the entire game and my Xbox because the spears would not go into the mushrooms for the whip connecting points. The spears kept bouncing off, no matter what. Other things, too. It’s just frustrating. The rest of the game has been really terrific.

Is this a genuine sentiment, that story rich games don't sell, or another excuse for layoffs?
