Society/Culture AI Art is Just as Valid as Human Art

Alright, let’s get real for a second. The art world is having a meltdown because AI-generated art is taking the spotlight, and honestly? It’s kind of hilarious how fragile some artists are about it. Here’s the deal: AI art is just as valid as human art, and it’s time for people to stop clutching their pearls over it.

First off, let’s talk about the whole “soul” argument. Oh, boo hoo, human artists pour their hearts into their work. But guess what? Art has always been about expression, and AI can mimic that expression in ways that are just as compelling. You think the Mona Lisa is any less magnificent because it was painted by a human? Art is subjective, and just because it didn’t come from a human hand doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of appreciation.

And let’s be real – the gatekeeping in the art community is out of control. Artists are acting like they’re the only ones allowed to create. Newsflash: creativity isn’t a limited resource! Just because AI can generate stunning visuals doesn’t mean it’s taking away from human artists. In fact, it’s a challenge! It pushes everyone to evolve and rethink what art is. If you’re threatened by something that can create beautiful pieces in an instant, maybe you need to step up your game instead of whining about it.

Plus, let’s not ignore the fact that art has always been influenced by technology. From the invention of the camera to digital painting tools, every advancement has been met with resistance. Yet here we are, decades later, and those technologies have only enriched the art world. AI is just the next evolution, and those who refuse to embrace it are going to be left in the dust.

And can we talk about accessibility? AI art can democratize creativity. Not everyone has the resources or the background to become a “real” artist, but with AI tools, anyone can express themselves visually. Isn’t that what art is all about? Sharing ideas and feelings, regardless of skill level?

So, to all the artists throwing tantrums over AI art: get over it! Instead of being mad that anyone can create now, why not use it as motivation to innovate and push your own boundaries? The world of art is vast, and there’s room for everyone. Embrace the change, or get left behind. It’s time to stop whining and start creating!

Music It’s actually insane how much undeserved popularity Kendrick Lamar has

It’s genuinely mind-boggling how people idolize mediocrity (Kendrick Lamar) to the point where he’s seen as God status in rap. This man isn’t even cracking the top 50 rappers in terms of actual talent, yet people slap him ahead of legends like 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, and Rakim, as if he’s even in the same league. Spoiler alert: he’s not.

First of all, let’s talk about his voice. He sounds like a whiny, nasally child who can’t rap properly, and instead of embracing his natural voice, he resorts to exaggerated antics and corny inflections. He tries so hard to be different that it comes off as gimmicky. Half the time, he’s doing this weird high-pitched, “jokey” tone that makes him sound like a circus clown on a bad trip.

And then there’s his so-called flow. People love to hype it up, but let’s be honest—it’s basic. Most of his flows are the same tired 1-2, 1-2, 1-2 rhythm repeated endlessly, like a metronome that’s lost all creativity. It’s like he discovered one cadence that kind of works for him and decided to run it into the ground. Nothing stands out, nothing challenges the listener, and it’s definitely not enough to justify the absurd pedestal he’s placed on. He’s a master of taking something boring and dressing it up as if it’s revolutionary, and apparently, people fall for it.

Let’s move on to his lyricism—the part where his fans really embarrass themselves. The man is not deep. The man is not a philosopher. His fans throw around words like “genius” and even compare him to Socrates, but whenever I ask someone to name five genuinely thought-provoking or brilliant bars, they can’t even give me one. And I don’t mean surface-level, pseudo-intellectual lines like A minor—I mean bars that hold up against true greats like Nas’s storytelling, Big L’s punchlines, or Biggie’s clever wordplay. What does Kendrick have that even comes close? Nothing. His “insightful” reputation is built on fluff, not substance.

Take his album To Pimp a Butterfly, which people act like is some groundbreaking masterpiece. Yes, it’s “political” and talks about important topics, but since when does talking about a topic automatically make something good? If you actually break down the writing, most of it is surface-level observations that anyone could make, wrapped in pretentious delivery. People mistake subject matter for skill, which is why someone as mediocre as Kendrick gets a free pass.

Let’s not even get started on his hooks. Half of them sound like nursery rhymes (HUMBLE., anyone?), and the other half are outright annoying (Alright sounds like something a children’s choir would perform at a bad school assembly). Even the tracks people swear by—like Money Trees or Backseat Freestyle—are just average at best, carried by production or features. On Money Trees, Jay Rock easily outshines him, and on Control, Big Sean of all people gave him a run for his money. Let that sink in: Big Sean.

The only songs I’ve ever genuinely enjoyed from him are Swimming Pools, Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe, and ADHD, and even then, I was stoned out of my mind when I heard them. A little retardation is tolerable when you’re drifting in the sky, but if I listened sober, I’d probably skip them entirely.

The truth is, Kendrick Lamar is a glorified marketing product. He’s great at crafting an image of being “deep” and “artistic” without actually delivering much substance. I’ll give him props for that—his PR team deserves a raise, and I’m sure his bank account looks amazing. But let’s not confuse his hype machine with actual talent.

And here’s the kicker: you can’t even criticize him without his fanbase losing their collective shit. The moment someone dares to call him out, they immediately start whining about “troll posts” or accuse you of not understanding his music. Imagine being so insecure about your favorite rapper that you can’t even tolerate a differing opinion. If you think this post is trolling, congratulations, you’re part of the problem. Stop putting mediocrity on a pedestal and acting like anyone who disagrees with you is the Antichrist.

Society/Culture CEOs and powerful people of interest should always be afraid of their customers

People who attain high power jobs are often by nature very ruthless. As a result, consumers are seen as faceless and it's easier to make unethical decisions for selfish reasons (i.e. profit and bonuses). Having genuine fear of repercussions (in whatever form it may take) serves as a natural form of self-regulation to encourage these people to act ethically and maintain a respectful and fair relationship with customers

Society/Culture It should be standard practice to either double barrel or merge surnames when a couple gets married

Unless there's a strong personal preference otherwise, of course. It is common sense, and using 'it's tradition' as a reason for taking a males last name as standard is absolutely mental to me. Both parties are entering into what should be an equal agreement, and so their last names should reflect that. Why should one party (normally the woman) have to alter her identity at no sacrifice from the second party?

Society/Culture Vocal Fry isn't that annoying, and people hate on it because of misogyny.

The hate towards vocal fry (gravelly/frizzy voice, kind of like Kim K.) is overblown and fits into the same category as Twilight, Taylor Swift, and Pumpkin Spice- women love it (or perform it, in this case) so people hate on it.

Vocal fry is no more annoying than any other accent. And like accents, it's easy to adopt it when you're around it a lot. But misogynists like to hate on "fake" women, so it's yet another tool in the "women suck" toolbox.

TV/Movies/Fiction Sorry but Superman's teaser trailer was superweak, unfortunately. It exposes several potentially massive flaws about the movie.

Not saying it killed my hype but it certainly didn't move me or impress me like some.

We were once again shown a gloomy, brooding Superman all throughout the teaser even though everybody swore this one was going to be happy and upbeat this time around. I'm surprised nobody really complained at how not colorful it looks compared to Gunn's other projects.

Lex Luthor looked like a lazytown villain to me. Way too tv looking. Doesn't feel intimidating at all.

Seems like the general public doesn't like Superman... again. We already saw this play out in MOS and BVS but Gunn wants a crack at it for whatever reason. Take a shot every time the public begins to hate Superman.

Then there's the ridiculous amount of characters that are confirmed to be in the movie. Why do they even need all those characters, many of which, the mainstream hasn't even heard of? The justice league international have no business being introduced this soon this early. Its confirmed they'll be getting their own signature moments. Its clearly deeper than just foreshadowing because they'll be there in person actually fighting. Way to take attention off the main character shoving in all these other superheroes. Its giving Black Adam vibes.

Why are they going the early MCU route and having him fight an evil version of himself in one of his first major battles?

Between the kaiju, Maxwell Lord, the general public, Lex Luthor, Ultraman, and now the engineer, why does Superman need so many freaking antagonistic forces in just his first movie? It shouldn't be Superman vs everyone this soon this early. But wait! they also have to juggle the introduction of metamorpho!

Before the teaser, I thought this movie was going to be small scale. It feels way too grand and packed in an opening Superman movie. You've got Nerdrotic having people talking about can this movie save Hollywood... lol. The fate of Hollywood resting on the performance of a superhero movie is pretty crazy.

TV/Movies/Fiction If an indie movie maker is using AI nobody should be mad at them for using it.

Upvotes

The reason why it takes a few months for a movie to be made in theaters is because there is a huge group if people working on it. If an a single person did this it would takes years or 10 years it would be way too long which would suck. You have to movie frame by frame which no one would want to do that if your a indie movie maker because its slow as fuck. I understand that people don't want Ai in movie theater movies and yes I get that because I don't want that too because yes it's true that those need to be human made be cause Ai does not look as good even if it has gotten good enough and it can't make certain art forms.

Update I'm saying that you should not use AI to write the plot of the story. But I'm 100 percent fine with people using AI to animate the story because I not taking years on end to animate a damn story.

Society/Culture Healthy weight loss should be rewarded with free/optional excess skin removal and other elective cosmetic surgeries.

I want to make it clear that there is nothing wrong with excess skin or stretch marks. They are 100% natural, especially if someone is loosing weight or battling obesity.

But I think it would be a huge incentive to those wanting to get healthier if they knew any excess skin they may have can be removed if they would like it to be (without costing an arm and a leg).

Food (Only on Friday) Pork chops are ass

Now, when I say pork chop, that does not mean just any cut of pork. Baby back ribs are amazing. Ham is splendid. Any pork sausage gets my approval. But pork chops? Blandest slice of the pig. Sure, they're affordable, but affordable implies at least a mid taste. They taste like dry wood compared to chicken or beef. No sauce or seasoning seems to save them, and I would rather pay a little extra just to get a better cut. I know the Steven Universe quote, but the ones I've had are still better off in hot dogs. I still have yet to find the perfect pork chop, if it even exists.

Other I don’t feel bad ghosting

It seems like there’s a big negative view on ghosting people and I don’t completely agree. There’s no way to say “I don’t wanna be your friend anymore because of xyz” without it coming off as an attack to the other person. A lot of people can’t take criticism and very few people would actually be receptive to the breakup. Once I’ve spent long enough with someone I know them in n out and know exactly how they’d respond to situations and convos. Sometimes there’s no point in sending a breakup text because when you’ve known someone long enough, you know exactly how they respond to certain things and situations. Some people aren’t even worth having a breakup convo with cause they will just turn it around you when you’re really just being honest. I ain’t tryna deal with going back and forth and would rather just pull the plug without saying anything.

Technology I think the TikTok ban will lead to a return of people not censoring themselves as heavily, and a lower expectation from young people that the Internet should be censored.

While swearing isn't expressly prohibited on TikTok, the algorithm isn't kind to people who do it. This leads to a culture where people censor pretty much any word that vaguely resembles a swear word – kill, gun, the names of drugs, etc. Time to unalive some time with a water firestick. Someone was deleted. Someone was fed grapes by a celebrity. In teaching sensitivity, this actually teaches a lack of clarity and makes a mockery out of a sad reality.

TikTok also tends to encourage a culture of extreme social awareness. You can be deprioritized for your tone in ways you might not even fully understand.

TikTok's short form video format inherited from Douyin and Musically encourages a format where very little is said. It encourages one where you should be prepared to tailor your content for a mainstream audience, even if it's about diy electronics or obscure facts about synthesizers. It's harder to develop a niche on TikTok. I can't help but feel that it's a bit collectivist, almost like most American "web 2.0" social media on steroids.

TikTok's music policies are all over the place. Unlike YouTube with its generous Content ID program that allows copyrighted songs to be clearly licensed, TikTok will pull a sound from the library at a moment's notice.

TikTok, along with most server-side AI models, has led to an internet culture of censorship where you can be corrected over very little. It has attempted to breed a monoculture. It has gotten an entire generation to be less blunt and speak in riddles. It has given a platform to people who use hashtags like neurodivergent while still subtly pushing assimilation.

If you have a high end computer and use it on tiktok, you are wasting its clock cycles. Not that the site is really convenient on the computer. The captchas make my mouse seize up! And I have an M1Ultra Mac so man, it's messing with us!

Other I don't like that the standard form of giving tips to drag performers is directly handing a bill to them

Obviously it is important to tip performers, and while it is nice that it can be a great opportunity to create some one-on-one crowd work, I generally think the practice bogs down the performance.

I have seen so so many drag performances where the entire performance is basically just the performer walking around in character taking money that's being handed to them while lip syncing. And tbh, when the standard form of tipping requires directly handing money to the performer, then said performer is kind of insentivised to prioritize taking the money than dancing or vogueing or whatever else they would otherwise be doing.

The best performers I have seen really only grab like 2-3 tips and act, but I have also noticed that a lot of audience members who hold up their money but get kind of ignored will just keep holding onto it instead of throwing it to the stage at the end of the act for the stage kitten to collect. As such, these performers (who are usually the better acts imho) get less money than the ones that walked around in the audience grabbing tips the whole time. This further insentivises performers to spend as much time collecting tips as they can rather than focusing on the performance.

I think it should be normalized that drag performers take no more than 3 tips manually and then everyone that intended to tip that performer throw their money onto the stage at the end of the act (doing it during the act is problematic for tripping reasons). I get that maybe you wanted that coveted 1 on 1 moment of interaction, but I promise you are getting a better show in return.

Food (Only on Friday) Pepperoni is disgusting and it doesn't belong on pizza

Just like any other normal human being, I love eating pizza. Cheese pizza is amazing. However every time I eat pepperoni pizza my mouth becomes filled with nothing but disgust. It tastes weird. Very weird. Like a smoky, but raw pig corpse. It tastes absolutely vile and I don't understand why anyone likes it.

Gaming Stardew Valley is too stressful for me.

I know my grandpa's ghost is going to come back and judge me. I also stopped playing a while ago, and I forgot all the stuff I was trying to do. So when I start again, it's like I'm messing up everything I was doing before. I wish the game had a notepad for me to keep track of what I'm doing.

Don't get me wrong, I have mad respect for ConcernedApe, I think the game is amazing, but there's something about it that makes me not want to continue.

Society/Culture O phone case should only be used after damaging your phone

I recently had a discussion here on reddit and few years ago with friends about this.

I think phone cases should only be used AFTER the phone is damaged.

I love how the new phones feel in the hand, the materials, the slimness, everything. And this all is destroyed by using any kind of case. They looks worse then the phone, they feel bulky, or they make button presses feel weird. I only ever use a phone case after damaging it.

My logic is that the case then hides the damaged back glass, or doesn’t let me feel the kinks on the border.

If i put my phone in a case from the beginning, i already lose the nice feel from the get go, and either will never get to feel the phone, or the person i sell it to, if i sell it. But i usually don’t sell my phones.

So why spends thousand on a new nice modern phone if i am going to purposefully downgrade myself a feature of the phone?

Edit: I want to address some common points.

I am strictly speaking about the back and frame of the phone. I can’t hide a beoken screen so I do use a screen protector to protect the screen.

Secondly many of you assume a phone will just stop working after any drop. From my, personal, experience, from viewing lots of drop test, and from seeing friends o have yet to see a phone break and not working anymore (except for a broken screen) after a regular drop from you pocket. I drop my phones occasionally, they still work.

No this is not putting a seat belt on after a car crash, the phone still works after the drops. You won’t after a car crash.

Lots of freak accidents break the phone even with a case, a freak accidents remains a freak accident.

TV/Movies/Fiction Friends is not funny

I've never once laughed at anything in Friends.

I was born in 93. I grew up with Friends being at the forefront in the media, and on TV, hell, it's still on TV. I understand there was a huge hype.

But it wasn't the first of its kind by any means.

Ross is annoyingly mopey; I just want the character to get mugged and beaten up in the street, or him and his whole family to come down with an illness to make him realise how worse life can really get.

Rachel is the ditsy blonde who doesn't wear a bra. Yeah, she's hot, but that's it.

Joey is basically the ex-frat boy, jester, the idiot, the clown, the loverboy, the loveable rogue. His character is surface level and annoying.

Monica... What archetype of a character even is she? Just not funny.

Chandler (everyone says I'm Chandler) uses comic relief to dark or emotional situations, because probably, like I, he understands how deep these emotions can go, and it's a form of safety net from the abyss below. He's not funny.

And then I forgot her name, but you all know, the other ditsy, stupid, airy fairy blonde woman. Not funny. Just stupid. I don't find stupid funny.

Food (Only on Friday) I like my sodas room temp, uncarbonated.

I don’t like bubbles. They make you bloated and make gulping the drink down way less enjoyable as your tongue feels attacked. I also don’t like drinking them cold, when it’s cold I only taste the cold and it masks the taste of the soda. So I shake my soda bottles after having left them outside for the night before drinking them and enjoying.

Health/Safety I wouldn't marry an infertile woman.

I don't give a fuck if you are trans, your ovaries are busted or something. I would rather prefer my lifelong partner to be a woman that could bear a child for me.

I'd prefer having my own kid if I'd be with a woman. If she's not gonna do that anyways, what's stopping me from getting a femboy? Sex wise, those are way more versatile, and they could potentially be more compatible with me. The only saving grace for women is their fertility and why would I pick them if they don't have the one thing that reigns over femboys?

If I am getting a partner, it's either going to be a fertile woman or a femboy. No in-between.

P.S: NSFW remarks deleted because I forgot minors browse this site and they tends to get all uppity towards nsfw things. Please erase your memory of this post if you are below 18.

TV/Movies/Fiction I can't stand Seinfeld. He is his own biggest fan

Every stand up show, every appearance in Seinfeld and every appearance on TV, he has this air of "I'm the greatest to have ever lived".

What he says just isn't funny. It's just statements that either highlight the mundane, or go against the grain that even he knows isn't true (like the whole ambulance siren rant in an interview).

I love Curb your Enthusiasm and I do love moments in Seinfeld (seen every episode) but most of it, and him, are just not funny.

I must point out that I am Jewish, because a lot of his material is understandable mostly within the Jewish culture. And yep, still not funny.

Animals/Nature Bare root plants/trees are far superior to ones shipped in dirt

Upvotes

Everyone hates bareroot plants/trees and says the companies selling them are scammers. This is asinine. These people simply bought something they don’t know how to care for, it’d be like giving a kid who’s only had a goldfish before a saltwater tank and saying “have at it”. The company I ordered from has terribleeee reviews. But if they suck so bad, why did I get multiple extras of each, and all my plants are thriving? As a disabled person receiving the plants bareroot made it so much easier for me to be able to move and plant them as well, shipped potted plants are so heavy and a huge mess. Not to mention I got 7 trees, 3 ferns and about 15 or more plants for what one tree cost me from fast-growing-trees. com. In conclusion, bareroot plants are way better than potted ones and people who disagree simply don’t know how to care for what they ordered and that’s their own fault.
