That blows massively. I quit after first Kizuna, and now coming back to the game I have so many legends I need to super evolve, and this one is time gated for 1x a month?

Thanks for the answer nonetheless.

Yeah catching up sucks. Save them for whenever you may need the character to be evolved though, not many of them are really needed to have immediately.

The shop isn't open 24/7 though correct? I'm considering pudding/carrot/komurasaki/Oden/o nami first. I pretty much need every skull, but these ones I see used pretty often.

It is open even after Kizuna ends. Pudding Carrot and Onami are the ones I'd prioritise, they're harder to replace when they're actually needed for any content. Still best to wait when you actually need them, no need to buy beforehand.

Brook and Dex Doffy(will be here next month) are beasts in pvp

I'll keep that in mind. Tbh i really dislike PVP and pretty much just do my 3 matches a day. Feels entirely P2W.

May i ask how it feels p2w? We have ppl in our discord that rank top 1k every single prelim without a single gem.

The only thing that may seem like p2w for me personally are the beyond broken pvp units. But tbf, who hasnt some 30 gems here and there to pull on pvp banner from time to time.

And llb wont matter in pvp. Because pvp only your defense matters. The weaker but stronger team, the better. no one will touch maxed out llb150 pvp units and legend meta teams.

I mean, if you dont like it, i get it. Im just curious about the p2w part, since to me its seems like the least p2w of all modes together with kizuna. The point event atm as example is a p2w scam imo, with the higher rewards time limit, to basically force you to pull for law and kid or grind a stupid amount.

So i cant speak into depth about it because i have done my own research into pvp but havent done a deep dive. Just coming back to the game after 2 years so i'vew had alot of other stuff to look into. That being said, everytime i do rumble i just keep refreshing until i find a team i know i can beat, because every other team is a full stack QCK or PSY team or possibly some INT or Slasher variation, and each of those variations have the full team of the best broken stuff. Thats all rumble is to me, people having pulled the best units and using them. Thats the definiition of P2W. Rumble units even more so, and every rumble unit just seems absolutely nuts.

Then we get to the powerup portion, and the lack of rumble exp i can give my units, so i've got weaker units because instead of having max specials or abilities i've had to feed 5-10 units as im learning and figuring out whats good and what works. Maybe people who have played since rumbles beginning dont worry about that much, but its been a constant struggle for me since coming back. Even more so after pulling on Anni and getting actually good units i didnt know about. I mean tbf its almost like a 2nd half to this game, and i dont feel the need to actively engage with it outside the 3 daily matches.

So the P2W isnt about gemming for extra matches, in fact i got to like a decent rank a week or two ago just by doing my matches as soon as it reset and seemingly just getting a way better starting spot. Its P2W because its entriely reliant on pulling for the best units to make your team, the F2P options are far from top tier it seems, though a few certainly seem to have some use. Its a mode entriely built around what you have pulled, sure theirs some meta play and im sure i could improve with what i have, but i feel no need to participate in a mode thats broken at its core. This game was never PVP, and thats because the system the game is built around is by definition not a fair shake for PVP. You cant have 2 players with entirely different boxes at the same lvl, certain units are flat out better than others.

** edit** ya Kizuna and even TM are hella predatory, but outside of ranking you dont have to do any of that. I've never shot for like top spots in a kizuna or a TM, i just want to grind at my pace and get the rewards i want. So you're not wrong about Kizuna, but that isnt PVP at its core, its solo content that has a little pvp extra rewards on top of it.

thats fair. but id argue its more about time investment, than money investment. players who played for multiple years will have bigger boxes and can adapt faster to the meta. the only p2w team in the meta atm is the dorry/brogy/urugue int team imo.

The power up i can share your pain. i did upgrade units i like instead of blindly upgrading meta units, which bite me in the ass. so now i save until im very very sure about a team i wanna build. But here the same. no money in the world can buy you pirate exp faster. its one of the very limited ressources in the game earned over time. so you either need to save or exclusively upgrading 10/10 meta units

i get where you are coming from tho as a returnee.

one small thing tho. qck is by far the weakest type in pirate rumble. by a mile. like multiple miles. so if you still see a lot of qck teams, itd be technically free wins if you invest in some counters (like the 6+ brook or 6+ doffy :P). this 3 prelims i exclusively attacked qck, because ppl, even in top 100, for whatever reason still use that team. i have a 100% win rate vs them. no matter what constellation. no matter if full with lv150 legends and pf rr. qck even loses vs str from time to time.

oh and dont touch the psy comps. they cancer

man idk every quick team i've gone against literally wipes my team like 30 seconds in. That Kiku/izu unit is nuts. I am slowly learning more about the meta, so i think my experience on that front will improve.

as example dex neko (fn str inu on bench, just so there is an inu, dex inu sucks, not worth main team), anni luffy, 6+brook, 6+doffy and maybe one of the pf dex rr like moria or dalton, if no dex rr maybe dex zoro v3 or queen or dex kizaru or dex lucci. they cant even scratch you. all dmg they do gets healed by brooks 3k healing. i not even once lost a single unit vs qck and im not even using dex 6+ doffy cause i missed that kizuna. (i understand asking for neko and dex rr seems p2w, but after pulls here and there, the box will adapt. i never pulled for specific pvp unit).

if you enter qck with any team that is not dex, maybe they can launch specials fast and nuke. but vs dex and even after kaido def down, they dont do dmg. akainu and kaido specials do like 400hp. kiku unit deals like 200hp each hit. str, qck dex is basically a rock paper scissor game. and at the moment dex into qck is without a doubt the strongest. it aint even fair tbh. the 30-40% qck dmg reduction from all the dex units is way too much for qck to break threw. (there is that one niche team with qck boa, that can heal a ton, so without doffy they maybe, rarely win the clock without killing a single unit from you).
