ENG Analysis Dupe Legend Management Diagram!
Starting out in OPTC one of the most difficult decisions to make is whether or not you should keep a dupe copy of a legend! Everyone has been in that situation and when i was starting out i was struggling with my dupe management because the game can be chaotic for a new player. Thinking about all the great tools the community has made for the game we all love, i decided to contribute and for a while i have been working on making a generalized diagram featuring some basic questions to help you decide if you should keep the dupe you just pulled or maybe sell it to the Rayleigh Shop/use it for limit break fodder. I also made a video explaining the diagram and my thought process in a more detailed way in case anyone wants that!
Dupe Legend Management Video : https://youtu.be/qBZhYm7OKw0
If for some reason you can't get the diagram directly from Reddit you can also find it here : https://twitter.com/Reaper24YT/status/1307349283650375680
Editor's Notes :
- The diagram has been made with the Global version of One Piece Treasure Cruise in mind, although i am pretty sure it can work for the majority of the new Japan legends as well.
- The diagram has been made without taking the upcoming Pirate Rumble into consideration. I don't know a lot about the new mode yet, so if necessary i will implement changes for it when i have a good understanding of Pirate Rumble.
- The question : "Is the special or captain ability any good" is catered to more experienced players and can be difficult to answer by new players, so keep a copy of every legend at 3 until you have a better understanding of the game.
- Some legends are so bad that they are probably not worth to keep 3 times, but because you never know, it's better to play it safe.
Correction :
- For Corazon and V1 Rayleigh you don't actually need the dupe one to have the support at Lv.3, since Lv.1 does the same thing, so just don't exceed Lv.3. Thanks to Mando895 for noticing!
With the recently announced V3 Akainu or the Super Type sugo-fest coming soon i hope this diagram can help out! If i missed something or you think a section can be added to make the diagram more detailed, let me know and i will take it into account if i do an updated version. I would really love to know your thoughts on my project! Have a nice day and best of luck with your future pulls and dupe management!

Why do you need two copies of Ray and Cora at level 3/5 support levels?

I think OP is saying that because level 3 is only for bind and despair so it won’t accidentally active on paralysis.
That being said I don’t see the need because it’s only 1 turn, but whatever floats your boat

Presumably since it can activate only once, if there’s a fight that has paralysis on an earlier stage and you need the bind removed on a later stage you would want the lower support version

u/Monkey_D_Gaster Global Handsome with Carrot Sep 19 '20
That’s what I was getting at, but like I said it only being 1 turn kind of makes it not very useful seeing that the 5 then is the sweet spot and is why Ray and Cora are so good.

That 1 turn might help sometimes, for example paired up with another let's say Bind remover support like White Bay might give you 3 turns and then 3 turns with sockets you get 6 turns of removal which is very helpful. Not going to see play all the time, but it's good to have options

u/ItsReaper24 Promising Rookie Sep 19 '20
Because Lv.3 removes Bind and Despair while Lv.5 also removes paralysis, so if a stage has a paralysis debuff before a Despair/Bind one the support might be wasted. The removal on Lv.3 is 1 turn so it won't be useful all the time but it might come in handy in some content, so i suggest having both just to be sure

You're right! When i made the diagram i was looking at the support and saw Lv.3 is the last without paralysis that's why i put Lv.3, but Lv.1 is what you need since all the first 3 levels are exactly the same. Good catch!

I would either modify the original image or put a disclaimer so that noobs don't unnecessarily waste their support medals on leveling up these characters

Why keep dual legends unevolved?
6
u/Faratus Sep 19 '20
They still don't have a 6+. That could potentially change things up. In the past, they were also super useful for ranking events, but Bandai seems to hate that and slowly started phasing them out by restricting them.

What do I do with my first dupe of luffy and law, also what is Lb dupes? I’m newish to this game so I would like to know
2
u/ItsReaper24 Promising Rookie Sep 23 '20
Keep 2nd Luffy/Law unevolved! Since you're new do not use any dupes for limit break, just sell to rayleigh if they are bad. For now just keep all the dupes until you have a better understanding of the game
2
u/OfficialBruhMan Promising Rookie Sep 23 '20
Okay thanks but one more thing, what would I ever use law and luffy unevolved for?
2
u/ItsReaper24 Promising Rookie Sep 23 '20
Maybe specific mission with a cost restriction, maybe a Buggy team, maybe they will get a super evolution and you can evolve them then in order to get that

If you are F2P you should never, and I repeat,
NEVER
Use dupe legends for LB instead of shopping them.
Especially now with PvP hitting Global, provided we have the same number per shop, you need 30k RP per month to buy out every PF flag. If you intend on pulling LRR’s through the ticket every month that’s 60k. This is not sustainable unless you’re slave shopping pretty much every dupe legend you get from TM/pull/free tickets.
I agree with every other portion of this flowchart except for LB-ing using copies. This is what tablets are for. Use dupes to LB RR’s, but always shop all your extra legends.

That's why i have "Sell" on the chart, i believe ray points is the best choice most of the time. But since it's not oriented for just f2p i thought mentioning LB is only right, since i can't know if someone wants to spend money on the game or not!
Did not know about the flags in the shop so that is helpful information and i would also agree, even if you don't get the LRR tickets or Flags, if you're F2P get your Ray points, they can be very useful in different occasions! There's also that 70k recent legend ticket coming, if Global gets that like Japan did.

Just asking which unevolved legends should I keep specifically?
7
u/tmadik Sep 20 '20
This really grinds my gears. OP went through the trouble of making a diagram so you could figure out which ones to keep, and your response is, "No, make it even easier and just name every legend I should keep dupes of." 🤦🏾♂️
If you can't be bothered to put in the minimal effort, just keep 3 copies of each. 5, 6, and 6+. Easy.

u/ItsReaper24 Promising Rookie Sep 19 '20
It's very hard to say all the specific legends. I give some examples in the video but i would also say keep all dual legends and also the newer legends that come out. Then depends on the special or captain ability, but if you're new keep all/most of them until you have a better understanding of the game's mechanics.

u/RedFireX1 Promising Rookie Sep 19 '20
Yea cause I got like an unevolved shanks crew, luffy and law, zoro and luffy, and v1 Mihawk
3
u/ItsReaper24 Promising Rookie Sep 19 '20
You should keep everyone other than dupe V1 Mihawk, you can sell him to rayleigh if you need points there

Gotcha, thank you so much for the information! I really appreciate it

I haven't had the chance to look at the video, but if you're going to use the diagram as reference, you should add a new node in the diagram for the support abilities.
From my point of view it should be something like this:
1. Does it have a support ability
Yes: go to next point
No: keep it, support abilities are hard to max and it may be useful. (You only need a max of 5 dupes)
2. If it has support ability is it simply a stats booster
Yes: Not necessary, sell it if you don't have many Rayleigh points.
No: Max the ability, there is a lot of cases where it will be useful to have, whether it's a debuff remover or a small booster.
As a side note, there will be people that may consider stats only support abilities to be useful, as you can get extra damage, but I'm of the opinion that you can manage with F2P units for that.
To answer you question about Pirate Rumble, extra copies are completely unnecessary, you can only level up with flags and you usually want to use the evolved version for better stats.
Finally there may be a discussion about whether you should use dupes to max limit break abilities or simply tablets. My recommendation is that if you have a good number of Rayleigh points, use the dupes. Tablets are not that easy to get and have a frustratingly low rate of success.

Support abilities are becoming easier and easier to max out, as with every initially scarce resource introduced to OPTC over the years. We've got so many events by now where you could farm them. Just going all-in on the last Team Kizuna could've yielded you around 3k support medals.
I'd personally advise against using legends for support levels with that in mind.

u/sokar96 Promising Rookie Sep 19 '20
I guess that's true, but I'm also on the more casual side, where I try to grind a bit to max F2P units and mostly leave ranking events alone to not burn myself too much, and I end up struggling a bit to gather medals. So I guess it all depends on what playing style you have and what you prioritize.
Aside from that, I think it's a good guide and I'm glad people are creating more guides for newer players, with how complex the game has been getting over the years.

Well unfortunately supports are usually quite useless until maxed, so you either pull 5 dupes (yikes) or you have sufficient medals anyways. A level 1 support usually won't help.
IMO it's better to use Legend dupes as RP (since Global actually gets stuff to buy with RP) OR to max LB certain Legends - LB affects PF stats so some old units like V1 Sanji or V1 Doffy are worth rainbowing.
One side note to that - only use dupes for LB when all LB nodes aside from Anti Heal and Slot Bind are maxed - soo many units have those LB abilities so there's not nearly enough tablets to go around. You wouldn't want to waste your dupe for a DR LB level up for instance, so max those with tablets before feeding dupes.

Very good comment!
To address the support part, i thought about it but proof of friendship is now more accessible so i would not advise keeping legend dupes just for support, but support and leveling up the limit break abilities might be a good idea but as you said the choice between that and getting rayleigh points depends on each player's situation so i cannot give a definite way of doing things. Rates for support/tablets is pretty bad so i would agree, if you have a ton of ray points (tbh i don't know how much is enough) then use the copies for support + limit break! It also depends if you're f2p or not i guess.
Good to know that Pirate Rumble won't change something, thank you for the info :)
