What units work best on a team with roger as the captain? I’m new not too sure the best way to build around him. I’d like to know what’s best so I can look to pull for them

No such thing as that

When you build teams you have to build around the boss your facing and counter all the debuffs and buffs they inflict on you

So your team should consist of utility units that counter the boss and get rid of your debuffs. Then the other units are the ones that boost the damage of all your other units. You don't want to bring a damage booster and it only boost STR and you have no STR units on your team. Always make sure you read the special and see which colors and which class they boost

Also when making teams you wanna make sure you have a color advantage so sometimes your not gonna want to use Roger because it would be more beneficial to use another unit with the correct color advantage so you can do more damage

But basically anything that doesn't boost atk since roger already does that

Hypothetically, which types of units should get included to input the highest possible damage. E.g orb boosters, attack boosters, chain boosters….

Since buffs don't stack 1 of everything

Atk booster , orb booster , type booster , conditional booster* ,and chain lock or chain boost

*a conditional booster is a damage boosting effect when an enemy is inflicted with a debuff so like 2x damage when enemy is poisoned, delayed, def down. The thing with theses buffs is that they don't stack, so if you use a poison boost you can't use a delay boost

There are some conditional booat that stack but they are special and only a few units have them like burn conditional which can only be done by Ace Vs Akainu and increase damage can only be done by Last Tap Law and V2 Kaido they can be paired with any other regular conditional

I see, are type boosters the thing that makes all type slots have matching slots effects? Also what even is a chain lock/boost and what’s the difference between those two?

Type boost they are also called affinity boost and they are their own type of special they boost damage based on color advantage.

So a 2x type boost for str unit means that str units do 2x more damage to dex units but they also have they added downside of lowering your damage against color disadvantage so a str unit will do significantly less damage against a qck unit.

When your taping your unit you will see your chain multiplier rise it starts at low then slowly rises as your taps continue.

With a chain lock you lock your chain so your first hit will have a higher multiplier and end up doing more damage.

A chain boost increases the base chain multiplier.

To my understanding a high chain lock is great but if you can stack chain boost they end up doing more damage.

The problem is that regular chain boosting specials don't stack, but special ones do like Sanji & Judge swap adds a chain boost that can stack also some captains have if built in like V2 Mihawk and V2 Sanji. Legends Sugar can turn units into toys and when they are toys she add a chain boost that can stack with everything.

The thing with chain boost is there is a cap eventually it will stop rising but with certain units you can set the base chain higher and incress the cap limit. Units like F2P clash crocodile or sugo Wano Law these special plus all the other chain boost can do bonkers damage.

Some units like Str Luffy who's a 2 turn orb booster, then a healer like Shira/mansherry, a chain booster like Shanks crew/DexRay, and 2 utility units depending on the content you wanna clear is my general setup.

Generally rainbow orb boosters, somebody to fulfill his supertype, a chain booster/setter/locker, color affinity maybe, but you’ll probably only have a couple of those and have more for utility (dealing with debuffs and enemy buffs)
