This chapter is where the final saga begins. There's no going back now that everyone knows their lives are in danger with the world actively being sunk. I love this series

fishmen hearing the announcement: "oh no! anyways"

"Soooo that explains that sunken quantum spaceship workshop the children are always playing around and we never knew where it came from".

13

u/true_fruits May 23 '24

The... what now? Do you know the chapter?

56

u/Pemols Bounty Hunter May 23 '24

Nah it never happened, just something I made up imagining what advanced tech may be hiding in the bottom of the ocean.

2

u/foXiobv Void Month Survivor May 24 '24

dont't worry, i didn't get it aswell

u/Pemols Bounty Hunter May 23 '24

Jokes aside, I don't think that's good news for them either. Their island has a giant air bubble so despite being bable to, I don't think they'd like to live underwater all the time. Also it makes Fishmen island (with sky islands and the red line) one of the few safe places for mankind so it could lead to a massive invasion from humans.

89

u/itsag_undam May 23 '24

And that's assuming the rising sea levels don't screw Fishman Island itself, considering that its ecology is affected by the surface (and really big changes like that could screw all kinds of natural balances regardless)

17

u/Starless_Night May 23 '24

It would probably kill the Sun Tree Eve if the water gets too high, so that's their light gone.

16

u/jaytix1 May 23 '24

so it could lead to a massive invasion from humans.

I'd like to see them fucking try lol. If I were a fishman, me and the boys would go out and pop their bubbles before they even get close.

Until you see shirtless Rayleigh slicing through the wateršŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

2

u/MojitoSuave May 26 '24

I don't know why he needs to be shirtless... but fuck yeah give us that Rayleigh fan service.

22

u/StrangerAtaru May 23 '24

Sky Islands: OH NO...anyways...

20

u/CelioHogane May 23 '24

Sky islands in two thousand years when they start to see the water "HEY NOW HOLD ON"

17

u/rondosparks May 23 '24

Skypeians: Call me in a few Millenia

12

u/YaIe May 23 '24

Ryleigh about to go on a use gambling spree with all the money from the coating buisness

4

u/chuck354 May 23 '24

I think fishmen might get an origin story here

4

u/AsteriusNeon May 24 '24

I mean the end of the series will probably be Luffy restoring the world to its natural state. thereby fulfilling the prophesy of "destroying fishman island"

3

u/GloomyLocation1259 May 23 '24

Arlong laughing and Hody grinning menacingly

u/FireFistRJ May 23 '24

The chaos this revelation will unfold around the world will be too much for the world government. It is going to at the level of roger announcing "one piece exists ".

The flood gates are open, there's no unringing this bell. It's about to be time for the Marines to choose sides.

u/Zuko09 Void Month Survivor May 23 '24

that one panel of the guy pointing to himself and saying, wait that's us, is soo funny

83

u/Jay040707 May 23 '24

"Are we the baddies?"

4

u/Flobby_G May 25 '24

ā€œNah bro, just keep shootingā€

2

u/Bohzee Pirate May 29 '24

"Pirates are fun!"

20

u/JohnZacunyLim May 24 '24

"Wait. Is this fucking play about us?"

24

u/SpiritualScumlord Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover May 23 '24

I know!!! This chapter had a lot of laughs. Oda balances out the tension so well.

20

u/CabbageTheVoice May 23 '24

The flood gates

heh

8

u/11475 Void Month Survivor May 23 '24

It's about to be time for the Marines to choose sides

That's why Oda removed Garp from the picture, he surely would switch sides

3

u/erty3125 May 24 '24

Garps ambiguity in the state he's in is going to have the world government willing to do anything to get his head from Blackbeard so they can be assured there's no one who could act as a marine figurehead against them

1

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

Iā€™m hoping the Gorosei go through with the ā€œkill ā€˜em allā€ idea and literally try to kill every single living thing on the islandā€¦including their own troops. The troops will realize whoā€™s the baddy NOW. Itā€™s all well and good when your bosses tell you to kill your colleagueā€¦ ā€œoh he must have done something badā€ ā€¦but when they ask you to lie down and dieā€¦will you do it?

And when the baddie youā€™ve been chasing, that Dr. V just said looks just like the hero who tried to save the world, ends up saving YOU..from your own bossesā€¦.

Whose side are you going to choose?

16

u/Worthyness May 23 '24

And even if the WG tries to take it out of the news cycle, this is enough doubt to seed rebellion. Dragon has an incredible opportunity to spark his revolution worldwide now.

12

u/Particular_Belt4028 The Revolutionary Army May 23 '24

THE FINAL SAGA PIECE IS REAAAAAAAAAAL

12

u/DigitalTomFoolery May 23 '24

"One Piece Exists" got everyone hyped up. "You are all going to die" is going to have everyone trying to eat Celestial Dragons

9

u/BreafingBread May 23 '24

And, like, most people will assume this weapon is with the world government, right?

The people only know of two factions in the void century war. Joy Boy and the current World Government. They know Joy Boy died and lost, so it wasn't he who used the weapon, so... only one possible choice remains.

2

u/Relevant_Anal_Cunt May 24 '24

Let's see what will be left of the world government by the end of the egghead fight....I hope the straw hats can take down at least one of the elder stars

2

u/ruffykunn Lurker May 26 '24

This is so much worse than the Roger announcement, it's exposing the world government as having systematically lied to the world for 800 years.

86

u/opkpopfanboyv3 Lurker May 23 '24

And hopefully, we learn more new info next chapter. Let that shit out, Punk

62

u/SpiritualScumlord Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover May 23 '24

Oda is cooking next chapter. Usually this kind of revelation is what we would be left on for a break week and we still have two chapters to go until break.

23

u/YaIe May 23 '24

Feels like we get closer and closer to the Snail getting found and that's sad because I don't want that broadcast to end

16

u/Slice_Ambitious May 23 '24

Someone in this subreddit theorized that the snail might be with Kizaru and honestly that's the only possible "redemption" I could get behind

2

u/YaIe May 23 '24

my personal theory is that it's with York. Feels weird to have Vegapunk go out without showcasing his intelligence in real time (we obviously seen how smart he is due to all his inventions and stuff, but in this arc he didn't really do much besides dieing), so I like the "the betrayal is a ruse" theory

1

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

But havenā€™t we seen her inner thoughts where she is desperately trying to find it?

1

u/[deleted] May 23 '24

Do you think he will reveal Imu to the world and that Luffy is a hero and the next Joy Boy?

2

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

I do. Heā€™s already revealed that Joyboy had a body that stretched. And Momo already mentioned that Joyboy sounds just like Luffy. Everyone will put it together pretty soon no matter what. I donā€™t think he will reveal Imu though. Does Dr. V even know of Imu?

14

u/CrimsonAntifascist May 23 '24

There's no going back now that everyone knows their lives are in danger...

Pre-Covid, i would have believed you.

12

u/Ginger_Anarchy May 23 '24

I mean you see it in this very chapter. A lot of the reactions are either mocking or ignoring him. I think while this revelation is earth shattering, we're going to see a lot of people ignore it.

2

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

I love how Oda subtly parodies and comments on our own world. This hits hard. Not only covid - you all realize our own world is sinking too right?

7

u/dresdenken May 23 '24

I wonder if we're going to see any chaos in the ranks of the Marines or if they're just continue to be a unified force as the end conflict shapes up. The nature of having recruits from all over the world, seems like a delicate thing when the whole world is suddenly in danger.

For example I've been wondering, what are any Marines who hail from Lulusia thinking as all this unfolds? Imagine being in a military stationed far-off, and finding out the head of your government nuked your hometown on a whim. And then the ripple effect as the others all realize it could happen to their loved ones at any time...

4

u/Electro522 May 23 '24

It's definitely going to be a mixed bag. We've seen how devoted people can be to the WG, like we've seen with Lucci. But on the other end are people like Garp and Aokiji, loyal only to a point because of what they know going on behind the scenes. Even Akainu seems to have shifted his stance slightly at least towards the Gorosei.

As for any kind of chaos.....if Oda does it realistically, it could take some time before we really see the Marines start to fall apart. This could pushed by whatever Imu decides to do after hearing all of this, and considering his reaction to Lulusia....it probably won't be good.

But..."realistic" and "One Piece" typically never fits into the same sentence, so.....we'll have to see.

7

u/MrWinks May 23 '24

Roger's Execution 2.0. The second announcement that rocked the world more than the first.

2

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

I wonder if Roger already knew all this? Rayleigh? those who read the poneglyphs?

10

u/Mad-Oka May 23 '24

One piece is so long that we've been saying "we're in the end stage now" since the revelations in Zou...NEARLY A DECADE AGO

One piece is something else

16

u/SpiritualScumlord Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover May 23 '24

lol, but seriously this time though

2

u/Electro522 May 23 '24

I'm still waiting on the exposition dump on Devil Fruits, though. Vegapunk was always shown to be the guy that would give the answers towards them, but so far.....we've got basically nothing on them this arc.

Don't get me wrong, an exposition dump on the Void Century is just as good, but if we don't get some kind of answer towards Devil Fruits in this arc, I fear we never will.

3

u/Nickv02 May 24 '24

Possibly DF's background would be revealed in someone's flashback(imo it would be imu's). Vegapunk is able to make copies of zoan and paramecia, but not logia. Which means, imo he hasn't discovered much about DF, including its history. Some tidbits might get mentioned, but i think that would be all

1

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

I think Oda is hinting the the Gorosei are devils themselvesā€¦and the fruits are somehow related? So i assumed it will be in the Goroseiā€™s backstories. Iā€™m guessing when we get a Gorosei backstory, thatā€™s when one of them is about to be defeated (killed).

3

u/BanjoSpaceMan May 23 '24

The climax has begun.

1

u/tokyogodfather2 May 26 '24

Someone just mentioned that people have been saying that since Zou, and that was almost 10 years ago haha.

2

u/Black_Ironic Explorer May 24 '24

Turn out one piece is just a big tubholeĀ

1

u/MariJoyBoy May 24 '24

Plot twist : Oda was planning to make that reveal in 1999, but thought "hmmm no, let's wait a few more years"

1

u/SpiritualScumlord Chopper the Cotton Candy Lover May 24 '24

"It's gotta be just right"
