But the world goverment needs this pirates. No civilian can ever explore the seas without a huge risk to be murdered by pirates. And the pirates mostly care for loot and treasure, not the exploration of the sea. The pirates are a deterrence to hinder sea exploration.

Stussy seems to have some really interesting self-worth issues.

In chapter 1101 during the Kuma flashback, she says "I wonder which of us has the most checkered fate: the human that lacks free will or the clone that doesn't", and Vegapunk has to remind her that she's just as human as anyone else. This calls back to his statement during Stussy's identity reveal in chapter 1072 that "Even if the world doesn't accept how she came to be... the girl is unmistakably human!"

Yet despite Vegapunk constantly emphasizing her humanity, she seems to just think of herself as yet another one of his experiments. In chapter 1101 she describes herself as a clone as opposed to Kuma being a human- as if clones are somehow inherently inhuman. And in this chapter she worries that Vegapunk "would never forgive her" if she let the Strawhats get caught, and she also seems to have no dreams/desires to live for now that he is dead.

It honestly reminds me a whole lot of Sanji's backstory. Both are humans created/modified through artificial means by scientists yet they have major differences: Judge goes out of his way to prevent his offspring from having emotions, thus making them less human, and believes Sanji's human emotions make him a failure. Yet Vegapunk believes that replicating humanity accurately is most important and revels in it ("...the girl is unmistakably human! It was a success! I bear witness to this achievement... and I maintain that it is a huge step toward world peace! -chapter 1072). Just as Sanji can't accept the inhumanity that Judge wants him to embody, Stussy can't accept that Vegapunk made her just as human as anyone else.

I have no idea where Oda is going with this but it's fascinating!

I really like the Impel Down = Empire Dawn theory right now.

There is no way the current One Piece world was able to build an entire prison below the sea level. My current theory is that the empire found out about the rising sea level and decided to build what is essentially a "Tower of Babel". The purpose of this was to elevate themselves and get as high as possible to survive and the Tower of Babel symbolises the Empire attempting to contest God (Celestial Dragons).

My mind immediately went back to Mont Blanc Cricket, the descendant of Mont Blanc Noland, and his diving activity looking for the lost city of gold in the sea.

Once again, Jaya and Skypiea prove to be incredibly significant to the story as a whole: the Noland dynasty is one of adventurers and dreamers, perceived as liars or fools by their contemporaries, ostracised and condemned.

Both Cricket and Noland incarnate a broader desire to know and see what lies beyond, which is a very strong tie, from what we know so far, to the OG adventurer, Joy Boy.

The fact that Cricket's life revolves around looking for a lost continent hidden under the sea makes this connection even more apparent and interesting.

• Most importantly, Roger execution speech. “この世の全てをそこに置いてきた/I left everything the world has there”. Most important is そこ/soko , which means “there/at that place” . However the Kanji for そこ is read as 底, meaning “bottom”

Edit: I forget but what was the timeline on Buggy eating his DF ? And did his crew know he ate a DF since he hid it from the crew and only Shanks knew ? It could be that Buggy faked his “can’t get to the final island” disease like Usopp usually does to get out of doing something. In Buggy’s case, it would be to hide the fact that he couldn’t swim to Laugh Tale because he tricked the crew with a fake fruit ?

200 meters are pretty deep. The best free diver, Herbert Nitsch reached 214 meters, and then 253 but he almost got killed in the last one. This guy is Aquaman and yet he had to prepare months before a single deep dive. This is how deep a man can go, but you can't really explore without proper scuba gear. Thing is, even with scuba gear the deepest dive was done by Ahmed Gabr who went 332 meters spent more than 10 years preparing and had a team of over 30 people helping him successfully complete this record attempt.

In the 1980's though scuba diving was much more primitive and dangerous. In the One Piece world, where you have zero technology, weird currents, sea creatures and extreme phenomena, exploring at 200 meters would be impossible for humans.

But not for fishmen. I think that's why the WG spent a lot of effort to isolate them from the rest of the world.

How do you even respond to a chapter like this. I feel like this is everything we wanted and more in terms of this announcement. All that heavy lore aside, which I think I need to just sit and think about for a while there were some other interestings moments.

The horse/swordmaster gorosei seems insanely powerful. He cut the entire lab in half, and we also learned that he can seemingly hear the "voices" that Luffy and Momo can hear! Is this a trait for D. or otherwise "chosen" people? All that aside, his sword skills have him perfectly set up to fight Zoro imo!!

Kaku and Stussy's conversation seemed very telling. On top of all these revelations, Oda is managing to fit a whole "free will of a clone" subplot with these side characters! We don't know much about Kaku's backstory or reason for joining Cipher Pol but I can't help but wonder if what Stussy said resonated with him and is why he paused? The fact that we are getting chapter 1115 Kaku character cooking is crazy and amazing to me.

The Luffy impersonator is now impersonating Kid? Hilarious follow-up gag lmao. I love the fucked up helmet the Killer impersonator has loool. Foxy follow-up is funny too, wild to see his timeskip design lol. We even checked in with the old Baroque Works agents!! We really are gonna see EVERYONE over the course of this announcement!!

My suspicions were confirmed a few days ago when I analyzed the world's current sea levels. This will be hard to accept... but that disaster 800 years ago... was caused by ancient weapons technology, capable of sinking the world.

What Vegapunk says with my attempt to convey the meaning faithfully:

先日の世界規模の海面上昇を感知した時、私は確信した...その〝原因〟と〝実在〟を...

When I felt that global sea rising a few days ago, I was convinced... about its origins and reality...

TCB did some weird rephrasing and for that purpose they literally made Vegapunk say something completely made up. "This will be hard to accept but that disaster" is NOWHERE in the original text.

800年前に世界を海に沈めた「古代兵器」は (今なお現存し)

The "ancient weapons" that sunk the world into the sea 800 years ago (still exist today)

What I added between the parenthesis is in the middle right panel and is the direct continuation of the top left one, so these two parts should be translated as a single sentence, but TCB cut the two parts into different statements which kinda change how it should flow. Also, TCB made Vegapunk's realization to be about what happened 800 years ago when in the original text the realization is still about the event from a few days ago, he simply uses what happened 800 years ago as a comparison.

In other words, Vegapunk isn't suddenly realizing that ancient weapons sunk the world 800 years ago, he realized that the event from a few days ago are related to the ancient weapons, which happened to sunk the world 800 years ago.

I advice to neither take my word or TCB's for granted and wait until the official release before making any kind of conclusion about this sentence. I can't stress this enough but if you care about translation accuracy, official is almost always guaranteed to be better than TCB.

I think alot of people fail to realise the fact that no where is it implied that no one in history ever figured anything out or atleast tried to. I've always understood that just like Ohara theres been countless historians and archaeologists who've tried to uncover the truth but got killed by the world government. Another thing I see people mentioning is how divers and submarines never questioned these ruins. Think of it this way, if you were a diver living in one island diving your whole life and you find ruins where you dive, surely ur not gona assume the whole world got submerged omg this is a mad theory let me post it on reddit. You'd assume those were low lands that slowly got submerged and you'd go about your day. And for submarines, when luffy and gang headed to fishman island they saw their fair bit of the ocean floor and there were no ruins to be seen because even thought massive continents on our Earth exists its still only 1/4th land your not gona find ruins everywhere and even if you find ruins at every ocean floor near islands your not going to assume theres a massive conspiracy at play by the WG.
