So wait a minute, in America, peaceful student protest leads to arrest but the US promoting and instigating students in sovereign countries to commit extreme violence (molotov cocktails, setting cars and buildings on fire, etc) are to be encouraged and lauded? American government truly is the definition of duplicity

u/HogarthTheMerciless Apr 24 '24 edited Apr 24 '24

I'm just waiting for all the freeze peach conservatives to come out and defend this clear violation since they've argued time and again that not being allowed to speak on stage at college campuses is a violation of free speech... any day now right?

Edit: not a clear violation of free speech, but neither is conservatives being deplatformed or not being allowed to speak at college campuses. To be clear you don't have the right to a platform, but that doesn't stop conservatives from complaining about it when they don't get access to one, and I won't be holding my breath waiting for them to apply their own logic to pro palestine voices. Read lawyer comment below me for breakdown of free speech laws and how they apply.

20

u/ADKtuary Apr 24 '24

Not a conservative, but yes, sane people in the US tend to denounce most things this regime does.

5

u/iDontSow Apr 24 '24 edited Apr 24 '24

I am an attorney but also a leftist that opposes the genocide in Gaza and absolutely detests state sponsored violence like this on a moral basis, but I fail to see how this is a violation of these students 1A rights regardless of whether the university in question is privately or publicly funded. The university policies in question seem to be non-content based restrictions on the time/place/manner of the protest. If my understanding of the policy is incorrect someone please correct me with some citations to the university’s code, but otherwise this seems like a pretty straightforward 1A analysis. Again, I find it morally reprehensible but probably not illegal.

EDIT: I know I’m getting downvoted for this but if we’re gonna fight back against this bullshit we should at least understand it even if we don’t like it.

13

u/Oppopity Apr 24 '24

It's not a violation of free speech. He's pointing out how conservatives get up and arms about any perceived threat against free speech like when someone loses their platform for saying a bunch of racist shit. Will they be applying their same logic here?

7

u/iDontSow Apr 24 '24

And I agree with him on that point, but he did call it a “clear violation” of free speech.

u/HogarthTheMerciless Apr 24 '24

Yeah, you're right. I don't believe that anybody has a right to a platform, I just don't trust conservatives who wine about being taken off a platform or stage to apply that logic to pro palestine voices. I was being a bit hyperbolic. Colleges allow the likes of TPUSA to speak on campus in the name of free speech, I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for them to do the same for pro palestine voices. That's all I was getting at.

its wild how he was a senator during the end of the vietnam war and doesnt see this as a bad PR move

226

u/JaThatOneGooner Kosovo Apr 24 '24

Especially since it led to a diplomatic crisis when a National Guardsmen shot and killed students in Kent State University during Vietnam. This not only has the potential to backfire, but backfire so miserably that students here might actually get shot in Israel’s interest of genocide. Things cannot get any lower than this.

Maybe some politicians ending up in that Fate too. I think many Americans are sick and tired of the BS.

Feels like we have politicians calling for today to happen

8

u/Riaayo Apr 24 '24

It's going to end up with Trump in office.

It is insane that Biden is speed-running destroying his own credibility and basically uprooting every single criticism of right-wing fascism by appearing to be no better.

Our democracy is under threat, but apparently not enough for him to not risk the election by illegally backing Israel's genocide. Trump will be a dictator and usher in a fascist regime, look at how he cleared people out from that church for a photo op, but then Biden will pull shit like this on peaceful protestors protesting an active fucking genocide.

Literal insanity. I'm not sure someone trying to lose on purpose could do a better job.

Biden is barely more politcally savvy than hillary clinton. The only reason he is president is that the democratic party needed a composite canidate for liberal voters to choose instead of Sanders gaining power. Obama and other dem leaders begged him not to run and he had to close offices in entire states from low fundraising. His actual performances on campaign and in office has been a series of blunders interspersed between throwing out crumbs of popular leftist policy.

9

u/EZe_Holey3-9 Apr 24 '24

I agree with all of this. Biden literally enabled because many saw that a second term for Trump, would be extremely detrimental to our nation. Biden is now doing everything he can to give Trump a chance. Joe Biden, you are a pompous old man. Our country is suffering, and Biden is fixated on Israel and their mission for genocide of the palestinian people.

29

u/BZenMojo Apr 24 '24

I think Clinton was more politically savvy but she just had worse politics in general. To whit, Clinton didn't know why people didn't like her but Biden genuinely thinks people that hate him actually like him.

14

u/PacVikng Apr 24 '24

Biden was a formidable political animal, look at the crime bills he got passed, and afterwards convinced a Black nominee to pick him as VP after those same bills decimated the black community to enrich for profit prisons, as they were designed to do.

If we were still in the mid 90's he still would be. He's under no delusion about how people feel about him, its advantageous to him to seem dithering and old like your slightly racist grandpa who has always been nice to you but used to drop the N bomb on occassion. You hate the kind of person he is but love your grandpa, or so he thinks, like I said he's running on windows 95 in a windows 11 world.

Clinton on the otherhand, seems like a highly intelligent, yet conservative woman (she campaigned for Goldwater), who had unbounded political ambition, and savy.

She knew she wasn't likeable or pretty enough to climb the ladder on her own so she married a handsome and charismatic bumpkin-esque guy with his own ambitions but maybe not quite enough brains to make it happen without proper backing, put a saddle on him and rode him all the way to the top. Her problem was she thought she'd earned the presidency, that it was owed to her and we'd all see that.

Instead she faced off against the only narccisist in the country bigger, than her and let her own sense of entitlement/destiny blind her to the change in political tide signaled by Obama winning in 08. He went moderate but he campiagned in 08 on hope and change the progressive rallying cry.

I think what we are seeing now are the same growing pains we saw in the 60's/70's, its going to get even uglier in the short term, but I'm hopeful that if we can make it through these next 4 years and come out the other side we wil be better for it and hopefully force some real choices in 2028.

2

u/ted_cruzs_micr0pen15 Apr 25 '24

I agree with a lot of this. But it’s pretty documented how liberal her and bill became in college. She was a Goldwater girl in high school because her daddy said so.

3

u/ArmorClassHero Apr 25 '24

And that's the most left she's ever been. She's shifted more right every year since.

60

u/Significant-Ad-7182 Apr 24 '24

PR no longer matters for most voters in US. If it did you would be living in a multi-party system.

People who care about Palestinians are forced to vote either Trump or Biden.

Both of them wouldn't shy away from supporting genocide and silencing those who stand against it.

The democrats fucked over at least half of their voters because they know you feel forced to vote for them, only alternative being Trump who is no different but also brings a hole lot of other issues with himself for the country internally.

As an outsider I hope your parties actually divide and dissolve into various different parties because internal conflicts within the parties are already evident.

35

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '24

People who care about Palestinians are forced to vote either Trump or Biden.

No we're not.

24

u/DavidSugarbush Apr 24 '24

Agreed - especially if you live in the 40 or so states where the outcome is already determined, you don't even need to consider casting a defensive vote for Biden against Trump. In those states, you absolutely should vote for a candidate like Cornel West who actually represents the views of most Americans

2

u/BluCurry8 Apr 24 '24

Really. I have no idea what Cornel West views are because I have not seen anything from him. If I was so inclined to vote for an inexperienced person for the presidency. Saying that most Americans agree with a persons view they know nothing about is a huge leap.

3

u/OssoRangedor Brazil Apr 24 '24

They might just consider people who don't vote to be "in support of Trump".

10

u/sfairleigh83 Apr 24 '24

Oh they already are doing that, and they haven't taken that L yet.

2

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Apr 24 '24

They will find a way to say that anything that didn't work out for them is helping Trump. They always do that. If they stumped their own toe they would find a way to blame progressives and imply they are secret Trump supporters.

What matters is the actions, and as we keep voting for their conservative candidates they will keep forcing them through the primary.

This election may not be the time to say no more, but it's gotta come soon. And frankly with the genocide supporting I don't know if even I can vote for Biden when he keeps doing this.

Only way to force change is to dive deep into the abyss. Or continue to kick the can down the road as it slowly veers right. No matter the path the end is the same, only the time to get there changes.

But anyways i wont be shamed into voting for a pro genocide candidate, I will vote 3rd party. I'm tired of the same shit every election year. Vote D or everything goes to shit! D's are 1000x better than R's but D's are still a 1000x from where they need to be.

9

u/InvertedAlchemist Apr 24 '24

Only way to force change is to dive deep into the abyss.

I am so afraid this what needs to happen. I know its will screw so many people over. But i have to ask...is it honestly any better? I remember that woman in Texas and her abortion. Nothing changed,Biden didn't even fight for it. The democrats cry about rights and blah blah but they have no teeth or back bone. Even further i don't think they would learn or things change with another 4 years of trump. Sadly it will need a generation to die off.

2

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Apr 24 '24

The only way to force it is to stop voting for the Democrats conservative nominees they force through the primary. Only refusing to vote for their terrible candidates can fix this. We should only be voting for candidates we actually like, the whole "strategic voting" thing makes the system not work right.

That being said this probably isn't the right time to do that with Trump being the other one.

But since Biden keeps sending millions to kill Palestinian children I just don't know if I can stomach supporting him.

It’s even worse than that people in groups that the Republican Party has most targeted likely feel even more trapped and fucked because another Republican presidency and all that entails could literally be a issue of life and death given all the vile rhetoric and increasingly evil policies enacted around the country targeting transgender people and LGBTQ+ people in general. I have LGBTQ+ family members and I can’t afford it not vote because of that despite hating both candidates. I hate how trapped it makes me feel and I truly fear that I won’t be able to forgive myself regardless of the outcome of the election. I feel like I am forced into making a truly awful decision and I hate it. I hate how this country is increasingly just a bad fucked up parody of everything this country tries to paint itself. It’s agonizing seeing the future become more and more bleak and I am losing hope in things becoming better.

7

u/opal2120 Apr 24 '24

Anything for his daddy Israel

5

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 Apr 24 '24

Biden was and still is one of the most conservative Democrats in the party. He was the reason forced bussing ended, because we he came out against it all the racists said "see even a northern Democrat doesn't like it" and that was the justification they needed to end it while saying it wasn't because they were racist fucks (they were).

He was literally the senator from Mastercard for cripes sakes.

The DNC is forcing the most right wing candidates they possibly can on us. I wouldn't even be surprised if they tried to make Sinema the nominee next election.

60

u/Sargasm666 Apr 24 '24

Biden doing his best to ensure he loses to Trump this election. People just won’t show up to vote if the choices are shit.

23

u/pressurechicken Apr 24 '24

That’s where I stand as of now. I’m in a blue state, so my vote is pretty weak to boot, but I sure as hell am not voting for our current snake of a president.

15

u/Real_Eye_9709 Apr 24 '24

Same. I've been trying to hold out. I've been trying to tell myself we need to so we can delay fascism

But yet here we are. Biden doesn't care to hide anything anymore. I'm done.

"But we gotta negate as much harm as possible!"

Which harm? Honestly. Biden has done some cool stuff, like helped some people with their student debt. Im sure there's other stuff. And I get he's not a dictator.

But at the same time, he's now not only defending genocide, but openly wanting to take away our rights to protest against it, and telling people they can't because it's antisemitism. Funny how they keep telling Jewish people they hate Jewish people like this.

14

u/Slight_Hat_9872 Apr 25 '24

You guys share my exact sentiment. I keep hearing don’t waste your vote and if trump wins blah blah blah.

Country is shitty either way I give up

5

u/M59j Apr 25 '24

Even if you think your vote is weak (I think mine is too, CA) at least vote for your conscience.

There are a few running for office that go against the idea of Genocide, we can at least attempt change by voting to them.

36

u/mrdankhimself_ Apr 24 '24

And for what? Some nonsense about the Rapture?

11

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '24

It’s for “Western civilization” against “Islam”.

I realize that the reality is more complex but that’s what driving a lot of the decisions. Some combo of racism, bigotry and islamophobia.

People like to avoid this because it’s uncomfortable and immoral (they’ll often pivot to -“it’s about military money, or lobbyists or Christian crazies). But it’s really about western/white supremacy.

u/elitereaper1 Canada Apr 24 '24

Even worse is the outcome of said rapture.

For the Evangelicals, Jesus comes down and wipe all the non believers. All believers go to heaven.

For the Jews, everyone is mass conversion to Jewish religion and non convert die.

Both group think their guy (jesus/god) is on their team.

5

u/PacVikng Apr 24 '24

You see we send Israel billions of dollars each year out of the national coffers, have for 75 years.

Israel then sends millions back into individual politicians election campaigns and millions more into lobbying. Israel is literally bribing our politicians with our own money.

6

u/Additional_Olive3318 Apr 24 '24

I think the role of Christian zionists is exaggerated. It’s not like Biden is one or the Democrats in Congress need that constituency.

2

u/Direct-Tie-7652 Apr 24 '24

It's the years of anti nazi and anti communist propeganda. Anyone who is even potentially an anti-semite is literally the axis of evil, a nazi themselves. This created the odd situation where isreal zionists can murder as many women and children as they want because NOT letting them kill as many people as they want would be anti-semitism.

Even the adl website is wild. You've got protesters with signs that say "resistance to occupation is a human right" labeled as anti-semetic harassment, beside an actual bomb threat called into a synagogue, or a swastika spraypainted onto a street sign, beside actual right wing looney tunes handing out fliers that say "the fliers read: "Every aspect of the LGBTQ+ Movement is Jewish," "6 Million Did Not Die," and "The Holocaust."

Like at what point will the adl come out and condemn bombing kids as an extremist hate crime?

It's money and lobbying power. None of the politicians supporting Israel are true believers. Maybe some of their followers are, but they're not. In the 60’s the US had a huge problem, the Soviets had a strong foothold in the ME. Egypt, Iraq, Syria. This was seen a huge threat to US interests in the region. Control of the ME oilfields are the greatest strategic prize in history. Control the ME and you have your foot on the windpipes of the European and Asian economies.

The Israeli’s were used to lever the Soviets out of Egypt. Egypt is the most culturally important Arab state. Egyptians write the books the Arabs read. Israel has seized the Sinai. Egypt could not get it back by force after a couple of attempts.

The US made Egypt an offer. Dump the Soviets, recognise Israel, and you’ll get the Sinai back. For dumping Soviets support we’ll give you $1.3B per year. Israel would get $3B per year and an understanding of support.

And so it was. The Soviets got the boot, the Egyptians $, the Israeli’s $$ and the ear of the US ( A memorandum of understanding. We don’t know what is in the MoU )

Right now another threat has risen, the Iranians, Israelis the hammer the US will beat them with.

2

u/Ok_Writing2937 Apr 24 '24

It’s the other way around. Israel is the proxy for US policy in the region. The religious aspect is a nice excuse.

Because it is shaping to be the same.

Well that’s just unconstitutional

Genocide joe does what?

14

u/Mean_Eye_8735 Apr 24 '24

He's walking a fine line. He is going to alienate young voters and not be able to get them back

11

u/Hillman314 Apr 24 '24 edited Apr 24 '24

Israel has already alienated the next generation, I agree, Biden risks losing them too.

Israel, through their response (overwhelming death, starvation, displacement, denial of medical aid, sanitation, outright lies, etc..) have finally broken the spell Israel has over America.

They’ve lost the next generation and all the AIPAC money won’t buy it back. ….but that doesn’t stop dinosaurs like Biden trying to hold on like the M.I.C. depends on it. Many Americans, especially younger ones, don’t want to be allied with the evil they see Israel perpetrating. The narrative has shifted, and it’s just a matter of time before that generation transitions into power.

2

u/greentrillion Apr 24 '24

Except for republican voters they are still staunchly pro Israel.

2

u/Hillman314 Apr 24 '24 edited Apr 24 '24

…while they hate jews. ..or is it just the jewish controlled media, banking industries? /s I don’t know, and can’t keep up. They mostly stand for hate, it gets confusing where the easily manipulated get pointed.

2

u/Duckspades Apr 24 '24

This still blows my mind. My own brother was glazing up Kayne during his episode for telling it how it is. And now he is down with Israel. I guess some people's Islamophobia is stronger than their antisemitism

Yeah, and he is planning to win next election. 🤣 🤡 💩

30

u/RoyalZeal Apr 24 '24

I would laugh if it weren't such a horror. Liberals were aghast when told that not only would protests not stop under Biden, but that he would absolutely crack down just like the Republican he's always been. So glad I didn't vote for him or the orange idiot. Both parties suck, people, and either would just as happily watch us suffer and burn if it made them an extra fiver.

4

u/Monsur_Ausuhnom Apr 24 '24

And The winner of the Presidency Is!!!

4

u/Retired-Replicant Apr 24 '24

All to protect Israel

4

u/LORDGHESH Apr 24 '24

Okay yeah Biden is definitely losing this one. *I* don't even want to vote now.

8

u/TheNightHaunter Apr 24 '24

Can't wait for democrats to gaslight me that Biden lost the next election cause some people didn't vote and not just him being awful.

3

u/Pandathesecond Apr 24 '24

I'm sure that'll get the young people motivated to go out and vote for him.

Shades of Reagan.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '24

It's crazy. Israel says jump and the US asks how high. I'm fucking sick of it. Fuck Israel.

3

u/JellyBabyWizard Apr 25 '24

America smells of late Rome more and more everyday

3

u/The_BestUsername Apr 25 '24

Kent State 2 is coming any day now.

3

u/Former_Agent2285 Apr 24 '24

Joe couldn't crack an egg...

2

u/Deep-Tank4440 Apr 24 '24

This is why Biden will lose this upcoming election. He’s not going to save our democracy.

2

u/sayu1991 Apr 24 '24

The other option is fucking Trump though....so, in short, we're all fucked either way.

Ahh.. the land of the free. When you are off the freedom-shrooms, remember kids, you are only allowed your freedom of expression against people who don’t hold any power.

2

u/Comrade-smash514 Apr 24 '24

American definition of freedom only entails certain people

2

u/messypaper Apr 24 '24

World Socialist Web Site, that old rag??

2

u/Eyespop4866 Apr 25 '24

The headline seems evenhanded.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '24

How is this not a violation of the first amendment?

2

u/avalve Apr 25 '24

I’m sure the world socialist website isn’t biased at all

2

u/mwa12345 Apr 25 '24

Wait.. We were supposed to get dictatorship AFTEr trump was elected...not before.

He already signed the TikTok ban.and now suppressing protests because some 'feelings were hurt' to see students protesting. So much for free speech, right to assembly, petitioning etc

2

u/lemming-leader12 Apr 25 '24

I regret going door to door for this asshole so much. I was jaded from 2016 due to the DNC interference, but hated Trump so bad to the point of getting involved. I knew he wasn't great but still feel duped since smh can't even trust a politician to be marginally less shitty/ the lesser evil.

1

u/GBralta Apr 25 '24

Well it’s a good thing Biden didn’t do this and it was Greg Abbott instead.

2

u/MacBareth Apr 25 '24

And people wondered why Nazi germany was admirative of the US. They still got it apparently.

2

u/Little-Bear13 Apr 25 '24

If that was Iran or any other Middle Eastern countries, they would probably have been condemned with sanction or probably invaded but since it’s the US and it’s allies, it’s democratic I guess.

3

u/notyourbrobro10 Apr 24 '24

"Vote for Biden, it's the only way to fight the far right's facism"........

What is this if not facism? There is no liberal or right on this, it's all the same. The two major political parties in the US are both on the wrong side of this, and neither of them can have my vote.

3

u/winoquestiono Apr 24 '24

Biden has done no such thing.

2

u/Yabrosif13 Apr 24 '24

Biden doesn’t control state and municipal police. This is propaganda

2

u/gorm4c17 Apr 24 '24

Biden doesn't have the authority to tell the University Police what to do. State governors would be the ones ultimately in charge of this supposed crackdown.

Also, this article suggests Biden is working with MTG to arrest these protesters, which is absurd on its face.

I'm happy people are protesting about this.

2

u/Away-Marionberry9365 Apr 24 '24

The police attacking protesters are state and local, not federal. Calling it Biden's crackdown isn't true. He's in favor of it but not behind it.

We shouldn't stoop to spreading falsehoods when there are plenty of other heinous things to lay at Biden's feet.

2

u/pm_me_ur_shellcode Apr 24 '24

Okay, did Biden actually do anything to enforce this "crackdown"? From the article, it appears the only federal involvement is a letter that was sent from Republican policymakers urging the President to use federal law enforcement, but doesn't mention the President doing anything or even acknowledging the letter. The police and national guard are under municipal and state control respectively.

I'm genuinely curious if this article is click-bait, so if anyone has information to help clarify this, please feel free!

2

u/Parkimedes Apr 24 '24

The Zionist movement has co-opted antisemitism to further their own cause. By doing so they corrode the term itself.

2

u/ArmorClassHero Apr 25 '24

That was always their aim. They even steal money from holocaust survivors.

4

u/1studlyman Apr 24 '24

I got two sentences into this article and saw enough emotive language to make me back out. This article is designed to make people think a certain way. Be wary of it's intentions.

1

u/Sudden_Acanthaceae34 Apr 24 '24

All this money going to Israel while we have so many issues at home. The money they just authorized to zionists ($26bn) could have more than ended homelessness in the US, which HUD estimates at a $20bn cost. Ending hunger in the US is estimated at $25bn.

Remember that these twerps would rather fund a genocide and get their kickbacks than actually help the citizens they’re supposed to represent.

1

u/squitsquat Apr 24 '24

This guy has no clue. Doing his best to hand the election to Trump

1

u/D-MAN-FLORIDA Apr 24 '24

I think it’s funny how all the comments that mentioned that Biden isn’t the one sending local and state authorities to the university and college campuses but the authorities in the area, are getting downvoted. There are some who are saying that the local authorities are doing it because they feel protected because of Biden, which is dumb because they would probably still send the cops to the campuses if the university or college asked them too. It’s also funny that the article is talking about him working with MTG on this. I legitimately think MTG would rather die then be caught working on something with Biden.

u/muncuss Indonesia Apr 24 '24

USA becoming russia day by day

1

u/adamusprime Apr 24 '24

Is there something I’m not seeing in the article that links individual colleges calling the police to a greater initiative headed by the Biden administration? Other than the author’s opinion?

1

u/browsilla Apr 25 '24

Maybe the $14 billion he sent to Israel today gets you the message.

So free speech matters again? Good. Glad we’re on the same page.

1

u/Psy-opsPops Apr 25 '24

Wow I didn’t know the head of the country is making decisions that are actually done at a state level that’s crazy. It’s almost like this post is misleading af

1

u/UtahUtopia Apr 26 '24

I thought police matters were local matters? Does Biden direct police actions in country other than National Guard?

1

u/tkhan2112 Apr 26 '24

a sad day in america when the president cracks down on the 1st amendment right to protest. btw it’s to late president bidet, the truth is that israel is a racist apartheid state, and are behind killing and murdering of palestinians for nearly 80 years. palestinians cannot be blamed for their attack. this country went to war against the redcoats over taxes, so surely fighting for freedom equality and justice is of a higher degree than fighting for taxes on things like tea.

1

u/Ok-General7798 Apr 27 '24

First amendment protects your right to free speech- even if it’s in support of middle eastern terrorists. It doesn’t protect you from being outed for trespassing or having consequences for your actions. Goodbye terrorist supporting people… <=== free speech?

1

u/vitaminalgas Apr 27 '24

No he didn't stop posting lies.
