DISCUSSION Are accountability partners or groups effective at building consistent habits? [DISCUSSION]

Merry Christmas everyone!

I've been seeing a lot of discussion about accountability groups, and I was wondering what people's thoughts on them are? I'm part of a few groups right now, and some of them have really helped but others seem to get less active over time.

For anybody who has hosted or joined an accountability group, what has your experience been like? And what has been effective or ineffective? I'd love to know so I can join the right accountability groups and maybe even make one myself :)

Anecdotal of course, but my coworkers are Diabetic and i was pre diabetic. We started fasting together and eating more fruits and vegetables. Like we would buy enough fruit for the week and have our fruit break, we would fast twice a week. And for lunch we potluck healthier food options and smaller portions. It's been 2 years and 30lbs for me. One is not diabetic anymore. She still has to go get checked out regularly and is still doing great. The other one is much improved still in the prediabetic range but she's doing great and these habits we helped each other build have become the way we eat. I still have a ways to go. But accountability partners worked for me.

This isn't anecdotal at all! With human nature, many people doing the same activity will make you want to do that activity. That's why it's so hard to quit porn or stop masturbating; those are socially accepted ideas because people love enjoying before doing hard work.
