I owned one of these on finance it didn't drive right from the day I drove it off the lot, primary turbo blew up under warranty they said they put in a new one a year in lost compression in cylinder 1.
Out of warranty, I bought a second hand long block and had it rebuilt, turbos never worked, in the 5 years I owned it I spent so much money fixing smaller issues, long story short it died and lost compression in 3 cylinders and blew up, from the day I drove it off the lot it was a 2002 to the time it blew up it cost me around $19k after paying off finance and interest, I swore I'd never buy one again, I now own a 2009 STI and a 2009 370z, I've never had an issue with these or any other car I've owned after the legacy GT, looks like I got a bad egg.
I'll have to check it out. The states didn't get any TT EJs as far as I know. Being a small displacement engine, I never really understood the reason for a TT set up, from an engineering perspective.
Ah, I see. They got rid of TT when the fourth gen Leggy came out. That's interesting, I kind if wanted the diesel version of the outback when I found out that was a thing that happened.
