5 days sober

Somehow I managed to make it through Christmas without drinking. Originally I posted about my first 24 hours on r/congratslikeimfive and was suggested this subreddit.

Gotten past the shakes, at least I think.

Congrats on 5 days, the shakes and other withdrawls symptoms are horrible but at Day 5 you're probably through the worst of the acute phsyical withdrawls now.

Also congrats on not drinking on Christmas. I had my first ever Sober adult Christmas this year and I'm currently on track, all going well, for my first ever Dry December too for a head start on Dry 2025.

I had initially thought I'd drink plenty this month then sober up "in the new year" (cop out!) but one thing led to another and I was half way through the month without drinking and thought I may aswell see it through to the end.

Christmas Day was actually totally fine and not an issue at all. Didn't feel any FOMO, regret, anger and not being able to join in the "fun" etc, was totally content.

The best part is actually “remembering” Christmas.

Yeah, and I didn't feel like the day would have been any better if I consumed all the usual fizz, beer, wine, spirits, liquers etc I usually do. It was all just fine as it was with the food and family.
