General Discussion Satisfy Running RePosessed x Levis - Weigh in!

I hate saturating the sub with Satisfy stuff as they sort of are at the forefront of experimenting with the running and fashion world...but this caught my eye.

Dropping this upcoming week. Levis has their own Re/Done line which takes vintage jeans, repairs them, and tailors them for a more modern cut. They've done collabs with a number of designers on this line including Interview Magazine's Mel Ottenberg, Bentgablenits

Latest post

What are your thoughts on a running brand doing this collab?

Leaving aside any predispositions towards Satisfy, I'm a general fan of what they do. Quality, whatever aside, they make some interesting silhouettes, experiment with new fabrics and ideas, and have a strong opinion on what their brand is.

To me this is an unexpected collab, but with the heavy fashion influence in the biz, I expect it to do well. Good exposure for them from Levis to non-runners.

Iā€™m wanting to get a proper running jacket(or two)but Iā€™m a runner on a budget and these range from $24-$32 on eBay and depop and was wondering what you guys think? I donā€™t have anything other adidas running products, I do have two pairs of ASICS Magic Speed 2s, and one pair of Nike Pegasus 38s and I have a ā€œI want to be SEENā€ sense of fashion.

Weekly Roundup Running Fashion Roundup Dec 1 - 7

Apologies for the lackluster post last week, was away for TSP Atacama! Wild event. If you get a chance to try out The Speed Project, or any ultra trail race I highly recommend it.

Speaking of, Parisian Studio Les Others just put out a sweet video with TNF and OakleyĀ hereĀ calledĀ The Sun Will Rise AgainĀ highlighting the beauty of ultra trail.

This week

  • New Balance and District Vision collaborated on a Hierro v8 Trail. It's already released at District Vision's site.
  • Adidas EQT made a secret track in the desert for some new launches in their Equipment line. That line is sportstyle-y so expect to see them ramp up running stuff now that running is all the rage.
  • Soar added a new ultralight waterproof jacket, the Nano. They also made a neat artist collab tee. I'd love to see more running graphic tees that pull in different artists personally.
  • Puma added a special edition Ekiden colorway to their lineup. Check out the Ekiden Glow Pack. Only available in some countries, sorry to the North American folks.
  • AdidasĀ is also doing something exciting in their apparel line. It looks like they're making supportive spandex that has theseĀ RHEONĀ strips around major muscle groups for support. RHEON is an active polymer that intelligently strengthens when subjected to force. It reminds me of the old Nike sprint tights that featured strips of vectran (type of stretchy plastic) for support.
  • Hermanos Koumori added a bunch of lifestyle clothing as part of their Winter "Off-Route" line.
  • Saysky is adding an activewear line, not linking that since its mostly just gymwear.

Last week

  • The much teasedĀ SatisfyĀ RunningĀ trail shoe,Ā TheRockerā„¢Ā (why this naming convention for a near luxury tier brand, who knows) will come out in summer 2025 for $280. Unsurprising price here. It will be interesting to see how it matches up with the likes of NNormal and Norda. Cool to see brands breaking into the footwear space.
  • Long Distance World, a mag and run culture aggregate launchedĀ Crew Market, selling and showcasing run crew merch from around the world.
  • Running WylderĀ is now open in the Castro District of SF

Question Best Shorts You Have Ever Owned?

Whether itā€™s comfort, quality, or durability, whatā€™s the best pair of shorts you have ever owned?

Iā€™ve owned a pair of the black Lululemon 6ā€ Lined Surge shorts for going on 3 years and I still run in them. The reflective hit on the hem has faded off, but other than that they are indestructible.

Mesh liner is comfortable, plenty of storage, they look pretty good, itā€™s honestly annoying how reliable they have been because they have outlasted all of my other, much more expensive shorts.

Running attire in Long Island during December?

Hey guys, I'm going to be in Long island for 2 weeks this December and I've recently been in a really good habit running at home (Australia). I thought it might be nice to just keep doing a couple 5ks to keep my rhythm going, and also would be a cool way to see the area!

But I'm just wondering what clothing I should prepare and bring? Like will I get away with running in shorts and a shirt in the morning like I do at home lol? Or is it going to be that much colder and I'll need extra layers?

If I run with anything more than just the one layer here in Australia, I'll be cooking even on winter days šŸ˜…

Thanks for any tips!

Summer long sleeves and tights?

I was recently on vacation in the Caribbean and despite it being 90+ degree heat there was a couple running in long sleeved shirts and full length tights. How was that possible? What brand or material works in the heat like that?

EDIT: You guys suck at giving recommendations. Geez

Hey gang, late roundup here due to some travel but plenty to mention!

Last week we had TRE so a bunch of brands showed off an early look at 2025 apparel and footwear. This week, good luck on your turkey trot and any Black Friday shopping. Our full deals thread is here.

This week - Satisfy shared TheRocker, their new trail sjoe coming in 2025. Not much more news here, really drawing it out. From what Iā€™ve seen and heard itā€™s similar to a Norda or Nnormal type shoe. - Long Distance World, a mag and run culture aggregate launched Crew Market, selling and showcasing run crew merch from around the world. Neat! - Running Wylder is now open in the Castro District of SF

Has anyone tried the Melin pace hydro hat?

I have been using the Melin trenches hydro for a few years and love it. The one thing I donā€™t like is the hard brim. I think it adds quite a bit of weight. I was looking around recently and saw the pace hydro hat made for running. They are in the pricey side but I wear mine pretty much everyday whether itā€™s running, the gym, or anything outdoors. Anyone have the pace and try it out?

Question Black Diamond gear? Any experience with this?

Running a race on Thanksgiving and weather looks not great. Wife got me a Black Diamond Alpine Start jacket when she was at a Sierra Trading Post and seems it may help. Donā€™t currently have a windbreaker or anything and need some new cold weather gear.

After some research, it seems itā€™s not the best water repellent, but still does ok. But it does help with wind while remaking breathable. I think itā€™s more of a hiking/climbing jacket, but itā€™s super light and seems it could still be good for running.

Curious if anyone has any experience with this or this brand. Found it for $60 new, and looks like it normally costs a good bit more.

Question Good Bulk Merino Wool Socks?

Good, plain, black or white, quarter or half-crew, merino wool socks. Cannot stand branding on socks. Five-finger would be awesome but not a must.

Half tights

Iā€™m looking at buying some half tights and canā€™t decide between the bandit or janji ones. I do think the bandit ones look cooler and Iā€™m a short guy so Iā€™m also considering the quarter tights which janji doesnā€™t have. Plus to janji is that I already have some of their stuff and I like all of it, donā€™t have any experience with bandit gear. Any preferences here between the two?
