Question šŸƒā€ā™‚ļø Running Fashion Survey 2024

Hey all!

I wanted to run a quick survey on everyone's running fashion and gear preferences from 2024. Curious to hear about your favorite releases, brand impressions, and what you loved (or hated) this year.

The survey is anonymous (only collecting age and which gender you primarily shop for) and takes ~5 minutes.

Disclaimer: I make $0 on this, it's purely to see what the ~7k people here think! The data I'll share only aggregated results here and on my substack.

If you have any questions drop them below!

Weekly Roundup Running Fashion Roundup Dec 15 - 21

Not a ton of releases, but some great previews this week. There's also been an uptick in activity, so welcome new folks and don't be afraid to post, ask questions, and chime in the comments!

If you havenā€™t checked out your Strava Year in Review, it was pretty fun! One of the interesting results in their aggregate data was that the Nike Pegasus was the most popular running shoe, and the most popular racing shoes at any distance was a Nike model.

District Vision x Post Archive Faction collab is coming in April of 2025. TBD on what that is, but assuming an apparel collab.

The Altra Timp 5 GTX ROA released recently on the ROA and Altra websites. It's still in stock.

Very much tapped into the Airport TSA bin trend, Minted NY shared the latest Saucony they helped design.

Orange Peel Running Club (which also has a full design side to it) is making a pair of cool running sunglasses.

I'll be putting together a survey to vote on people's favorite brands, releases, and most memorable moments of 2024 in running fashion. Stay tuned!

Looking to buy a pair of rubber (or sulfur) mafates in size US 11 Menā€™s. Preferably new but open to slightly used as well. Unfortunately I missed out on the initial drop like many others. Iā€™m located in the bay area, ca and can do a local pickup if thatā€™s preferable. Please PM if interested.

Hey Fashionistas of running.

Was watching ā€œThe high routeā€ and was intrigued by the glasses pictured at minute 4:23 work by kaytlyn gerbin

I know she is partnered with smith optics. But I donā€™t see the model.

Any help would be great. I usually donā€™t like the big lenses. But these look good.

Question Singlets for tall people (6ā€™4)

For all you not short runners out there, what name brand singlets do you wear on race day? It seems as if everything is made for short people in the running world. Iā€™m 6ā€™4 and 9 times out of 10 any singlet or ā€œrunningā€ top I get is always too short and rides up. Iā€™m only 205 pounds pretty slender build so getting a gigantic size doesnā€™t really help and looks stupid bc itā€™s just baggy and still short

Question Sweatbands recommendations?

Hey all any recommendations for sweatbands? I see many options from Halo, some regular Nike and under armor ones, some more expensive ones from Lululemon etc. I need them for a treadmill running and indoor cycling to absorb sweat and prevent it from building up on my head and dripping into my eyes. Any experience or anyone tried different types of headbands and can recommend? They're mostly for my indoor workouts while I sweat a lot and there's no wind to take away the sweat. Thank you

Running Belts (that donā€™t slide up)

Has anyone run into a running belt with silicon grippers to help it not slide up? Big enough for a large phone.

As someone with larger hips and a small waist, all the belts Iā€™ve tried over the years creep up.

Update to share that Nathan, Naked, Spi, and Lululemon belts all rode up on me.

Question Best soar products

I am (hopefully) going to complete the Soar solstice challenge tomorrow which gets you a Ā£60 voucher on orders over Ā£120.

Iā€™m keen to get one of the race vests but I need to get something else as well to make the threshold.

Any recommendations on the best items? I sadly canā€™t afford the Ā£200-300 jackets, but any standouts around the Ā£100-120 mark?

Any cheaper alternatives to the Satisfy Ghostfleece? Iā€™ve seen the Senchi one but do not want one with a zipper. Any ideas?

Hello everyone was hoping I can get help picking some running shorts and leggings for my wife. She has been working on losing her mommy weight and has been struggling with her leggings slipping. I know she thinks that the chicknlegs shorts are cute but idk how they fit for a thicker lady. Hope I can get some pointers! Thank you

General Discussion Let's talk Japanese

...running brands, that is. As great as they are, I don't mean Asics, Mizuno and Goldwin, but rather more niche brands making running attire.

Ordering from small Japanese brands can be a bit of a hassle for those of us in other parts of the world, with proxies, shipping, duties and indecipherable sizes. I'm just starting to dip my toes here, but there's so much cool stuff around I'd like to dive deeper. Curious to hear which non-mainstream Japanese running brands you are excited about, and why.

I'll start off with a quartet of brands that have caught my eye:

GSYB >> Short for Godspeed You Blast, in the whimsical version of English we've come to expect from CMF, which is GSYB's more well-known, gorpy sister brand. Focus on ultralight items like ponchos and bags, they also make running vests, shorts, most things a runner needs apart from shoes. I picked up the quick dry tee. And yes, it was because their logo is cool.

Tannuki Running >> Strong focus on made-in-jp and the local running community. There's a humble, peaceful vibe to their comfy cuts and their serene autumnal color palette. Have not tried, but Tannuki speaks to me in that same comforting tone as Hasami porcelain.

Tabisuke Tabizo >> More technical stuff, including a pair of tights so compressive they are only sold in the physical store, to make sure they fit the right way. Like Yamatomichi (below) this brand has its home in Kamakura, where you can try those tights on in person.

Yamatomichi >> Top shelf technical materials like merino, Pertex Shield Air, Polartec Alpha Direct and many more. Yamatomichi makes gear for the trails, primarily for hardcore hikers but with plenty of stuff suitable for running in cooler temps and challenging conditions. Every piece they make comes with a little essay on the how and why of it, that's well worth perusing even if you're not actively shopping. Much of their stuff sells out on release, so if you see some upcoming drop you like, set a reminder.

Being amazed about the Tracksmith Brighton Base Layer, I thought there must be other brands that offer great merino gear.

Let me hear your thoughts!

Weekly Roundup Running Fashion Roundup Dec 8 - 14

Holiday season is in full swing, expect another wave of sales! Hope everyone has their lists ready :)

This week

  • Dover Street MarketĀ is launching a specialĀ OnĀ Cloudboom Zone sneaker. Itā€™s been wild seeing running take off in the capital F Fashion world here. They had UK 1500m ChampĀ ReveĢe Walcott-NolanĀ model for the campaign.
  • SoarĀ and British eyewear brandĀ CubittsĀ have a project coming in 2025. It's a metal pair so I expect it to be more of a lifestyle piece than running eyewear.
  • Satisfy Running's climbing side is pairing with Leviā€™s Re/Done on 200 pairs of climbing jeans. I want running jorts so maybe these can be the most expensive cutoffs of all time. Launch is on Thursday, Dec 12.
  • DistanceĀ Christmas Market is running Dec 7 - 21 at their Paris store. Theyā€™re doing a number of events (runs of course), an Oakley launch party, a puzzle launch, and a Christmas party. This is all supported byĀ Saucony EU.
  • Saysky is releasing their Motion+ 3/4 Tights Wednesday at 10 am. Most of this line is akin to Alo or Lulu so this will be the last you see it in the weekly roundups.

Last Week

  • Saucony released a sleek iridescent colorway of the Endorphin Elite and Endorphin Speed 4 (below)
