Tech Support Help with port issue on Asus ROG Strix Laptop
Hey folks, I have a 2023 ASUS ROG STRIX G16 with the following ports:
1x 3.5mm combo audio jack
1x HDMI 2.1 FRL
1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (supports display/power delivery)
2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (data speed up to 10Gbps)
1x RJ45 LAN port
1x Thunderboltā¢ 4 with support for DisplayPortā¢ (data speed up to 40Gbps)
I recently got a SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5X headset as a gift and can't exchange it. I really need a new headset, so I want to make this one work. The problem is that its dongle is too wide and ends up blocking both the HDMI and USB-C ports on my laptop. I currently have my Samsung Odyssey G65b monitor connected via HDMI, but I could also connect it using a USB-C to DisplayPort. However, with the dongle plugged in, it blocks both of these options. On the other side of my laptop, I have two USB-A ports, both occupied by my mouse and keyboard.
I do have a USB-C to USB-A adapter for the headset, but both USB-A ports are already in use. What do I need to maximize the use of all these devices together? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thx in advance.

Discussion Why have no one ever told me about mouse polling rate!? This makes mouse as smooth as a joystick!
I never considered buying a "gaming mouse" because what could be so special about a mouse? So I always used cheap generic mice and never felt the need to buy a gaming mouse until recently I bought one just for the looks and it's almost like experiencing 60fps for the first time! People buy gaming mice for high dpi or ergonomics or high polling rate for better aiming, but there's one more benefit of a high polling rate that alot of people might not be aware of. I prefer to play with keyboard and mouse with vsync so I get perfectly smooth frame timing except when I move camera with mouse, even at 60 fps, camera panning looks jittery with mouse but not with a controller.
Whenever I looked this up on Google, the answers were always that that's just how a mouse works. But the real reason that happens is because most people have mice with 125hz polling rate, since polling rate is refresh rate of a mouse so the higher the polling rate, the smoother the mouse movement will look. I know the real purpose of a higher polling rate is to reduce input lag but smoother visuals are an overlooked benefit.

Question Help with weird fan behavior
My fans have been doing this weird thing where they will randomly go berserk and spin as fast as possible and it seems almost completely random.
Itās happened off and on for almost a year. Sometimes it will be days before it acts up. It starts usually when playing a graphically intensive game, but can also happen on boot rarely. And sometimes it will be almost every second Iām on my PC of full fan speed.
I believe itās only my CPU fans acting up. Iāve tried going into BIOS and changing the pin type back and forth (Iām not very knowledgeable regarding PCās in general) and itās only a temporary fix.
If anyone needs any parts listed I can find out what they are probably. Any help at all is appreciated.

Discussion Arctic F12 TC hack?
This fan has its own temperature sensor and adjusts its speed depending on the temperature. I don't really want this feature and would much rather control it through bios manually.
A 9 year old video on YouTube says it's an NTC which would mean as temps rise, resistance decreases. Shorting the 2 wires before the ntc should result in removal of all resistance from the ntc and thus, the fan runs at full speed, right?
Anyone tried this before on similar fans?

Question One of my case fans is making a crackling sound
One of my case fans seems to be on its last legs as it has started making a crackling sound when running above 40% speed. Should I replace it immediately or keep it below 40%, or does the crackling not matter? I bought the fan for like 5 euros 5 years ago. Nothing is touching the fan.

Question Is this fully plugged in?
I canāt tell for the life of me if this is all the way in and I canāt use any more force without fear of braking something. I did use quite a bit and it wouldnāt go further. This is the adapter that came with my asus tuf 4080 super oc gpu.
