Old world globe with 9 oval circles in the ocean. Anyone know what they represent? There are lines radiating out from all around the oval on each one.

1812 map of America in French with street map of DC. We found this framed map in our basement when we bought our house 7 years ago. Does anybody know if it is valuable? It weighs a ton with its glass frame.

What city is this?

Sorry if this isn’t the correct sub to post this in but it seems to be an etching of a city but I cannot for the life of me read the name at the top. Bottom right says circa 1630. Can anyone figure out what it says? Thank you!

Is this map original? UPDATE

Hi! Following up on my previous post (here’s the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/oldmaps/s/jJgGL92T02), I wanted to add some additional details.

I have an update regarding this map. Upon analysing it with backlighting, I noticed a watermark that I believe reads “TOMAS.” Could this provide more information about the map’s origin and age?

I’m attaching some photos for you to review.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

My family has had this for years, but we don’t know anything about its history or if it’s even legit. It’s French, and is dated to 1767. I’ve tried looking up the names, but to no avail. I did, however, realise whoever made the map copied a design from this 1747 map by Emanuel Bowen. I was hoping someone on here could make more sense of it than I can!

How can I tell if this is a first edition or original printing ? There is no date on any page I can see other than the 1877 on cover/title page.

I bought this map today at a map shop in Paris for 80 euros, and I was wondering if you could help me verify its authenticity. According to the shop where I purchased it, it is a 17th-century map.
