  • Frem is a Member of Parliament representing Keserwan-Jbeil for the second time.
  • His political initiatives include financial recovery programs and legislative reforms. He proposed a zero-deficit budget in 2015 to prevent financial collapse, which was ignored.

  • Resigned from Parliament in 2020 after the Beirut explosion, protesting systemic corruption.
  • Leads Project Watan, a political movement promoting freedom, prosperity, and dignity for Lebanese citizens.
  • Represents Lebanon internationally, advocating for support in global capitals including Paris, Washington, and the Vatican.
  • Frem’s leadership at INDEVCO and Phoenix Group focuses on innovation, sustainability, and crisis management.
  • Former President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (2010-2014) and founder of the Maronite Foundation in the World (2016-2018).
  • Founded the "Better Lebanon" initiative to address Lebanon's economic and social challenges, institutionalized as an NGO in 2019.
  • Committed to interfaith dialogue, fostering understanding between Christian and Islamic communities.
  • Holds two U.S. patents and received a Doctorate Honoris Causa from Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in 2018.

Neemat Frem’s visionary leadership and dedication to innovation, governance, and social harmony underscore his lifelong mission to secure a better future for Lebanon.

Discussion A problem that needs to be constantly talked about

Nearly everyone is happy with the Lebanese Army handing over 70 officers/soldiers of the Assad regime back to Syria after they were caught in Lebanon.

However, we really need to talk about the incident in more detail. Why were they only caught in Barbara in jbeil district? How did they manage to reach here? Why weren't they stopped at the border...

If the local police in barbara didn't act these criminals would be roaming around in Lebanon or just escape justice through our airport.

Our border needs to be fully secure. It's already a shame that other menbers of the Assad regime were already allowed to leave through our airport and go through our borders. There should be no leeway, especially through the illegal border crossings

Vent / Rant Old people should not be allowed to drive after a certain age.

This is gonna sound very much lacking any king of empathy, but please hear me out. There should be a legal age where a person should drive operating a motor vehicle, or at least, their license and their ability to drive and operate a vehicle should be monitored every year.

I am not a young man anymore, i have horrible eyesight and i know sooner or later, a time will come when i will become a danger to myself, my passengers and others.

Today for example, i swear, 2 times i saw old people driving a car that either held up traffic or almost caused a serious accident, and each time when i look inside the car, it is the same, a little old lady that is as small as a poodle, trying her best to stretch her neck over the steering wheel to see and can't park in a space where the titanic can park.

I love old people, i am old people, my mom is old people, we all will become old people, but old people should know, there is a time to stop doing some things, especially driving in lebanon.

Also, to GEN-Z/Alpha people, here, today i saw a fine specimen of your generation, a damn p.o.s that made me angry, i stopped the car to let a very old man cross the road, the old man nodded in thanks, i gave him the high hand back and he crossed, a damn kid driving opposite side saw the old man and didn't even brake or slow down while the old timer was crossing the road. The damn kid only stopped inches before the old guy and i am pretty sure that wet fart of a kid was driving his parents car and almost ran over the old guy.

Point is, old people should realize when it is time to stop being a driver, and kids without a license shouldn't drive or if they have, please drive slow in the city and be mindful of pedestrians.

Today, especially with this weather, caution is mandatory, and may God watch over us all.

p.s: i know there is a legal age to stop driving but it is not enforced, also i am sorry if i offended people, seems all i do here is offend people with either rants or food pics, i wonder what would happen if i was political, lol.

Help / Question I got an offer as a non-paid intern, should I accept?

I'm currently unemployed and urgently needing an income.

I applied for a company and interviewed very well (I think) but they accepted me as intern and not as a normal employee. Even though I have one year of experience and previous internship from university

Problem is the internship is 6 months long with zero pay, not even for transportation. And for 6 days a week, 9 to 5

I feel very concerned about sacrificing my health and mental well-being for such intensive work with no promise of payment and employment. I have debt and medical bills to pay, so I don't have money to sustain myself during internship

Also transportation is VERY difficult for me as I don't have a car. My initial plan was to get hired and get a loan to buy a car but now that's not possible anymore

Help / Question Where Can I find this Burger Sauce by Le Grand Chef?

Post image
13 Upvotes

It's been over 2 months struggling to find this particular Burger sauce by Le Grand Chef. This brand is widely available in Spinneys Stores with a lot of other flavors. Visited Spinneys Hazmieh, 2 stores in Achrafieh and Jnah. All I can find all the sauces except for this one. I asked and said they are out of stock then I checked again after one month and they had the same response. Tried to search online for this Brand, but it get really hard to find the brand. I concluded it's a brand by Spinneys specific for Lebanese market. Tried to search on noknok and found only 1 left in stock but my dumb mind didn't order it and on the next day tried to check again and it's gone.

Yes, I'm so annoyed for this silly thing. After trying it for the first time I was enjoying the best homemade and maybe fast food restaurant burger in my life. And now since that sauce is gone, my craving for a burger is gone.

Discussion Workers right should be more respected in this country.

After working in Europe, even for sometimes lower salaries, I realized how shit and pathetic the work culture is in Lebanon. From long hours of work, to unpaid or postponed salaries, to not having social security, extra work not being paid, terbi7 jmile, treating people like shit, wasayit shmel yamin. I could write a thesis worth of these issues.

If I get some power in Lebanon, here are the things I would do :

- Every worker should have the schedule assigned in the contract. Both parties have to agree on it. Each extra hour of work not written on the contract should be compensated.

- Each worker should at least get the minimum salary. It should be fixed by the government and adjusted to inflation each year. No slave job should be allowed. If the work is a temporary work (like waiter) they should be also entitled to a minimum hourly wage.

- Each worker cannot be fired without getting compensation. It should be stated in the contract or in the government worker policies. But you cannot fire an employee for no reason and not give him compensation. Trial periods (Where both the employee and employer can terminate the contract without compensation) may be allowed of no more than 3 months, that can be renewed to 6 months if both parties agree.

- In return the worker also can't leave the job after the trial period, without some sort of notice also written and approved in the contract. (No more than three month notice)

- The workplace has to be held accountable for unpaid salaries.

- Sexual, Ethnic, Religious discrimination ideally should not be tolerated under any circumstances.

- Each long contract worker (More than a year) should be entitled to social security.

I am well aware that these laws may have the downside to discourage some business owner. But if you can't adhere to a minimum of workers rights, then you should not be able to open a business.

I am also aware that some if not most of these laws already exist in some sort of form in worker's right in Lebanon. But they are not enforced for some reason.

Enough of being a backwards mazra3a. Let us put effort into building a civilized structure.

Help / Question Startup not paying my salary part 2

https://www.reddit.com/r/lebanon/s/McwPOKgibE

So, I figured that the company is registered in the UAE, and I tried to issue a complaint to the Labor Advisory Center, but they require an UAE mobile number to be able to file a complaint which I do not have.

So I decided to go on socials and I need your help with this. The company is threatening me with Defamation and law enforcement authorites for criminal prosecution because I said that I will take my rights either ways.

And I'm done tolerating such behavior honestly from spoiled CEOs sitting in Dubai trying to run a company that is obviously going to fail.

Merry Christmas and I hope you're all doing well! As part of my personal growth, I’m looking to volunteer in 2025. I’d really appreciate any recommendations, links, or contacts for volunteer opportunities.

I'm passionate about making a difference, and I’m open to various fields such as social causes, environmental, healthcare, or anything that could help people and contribute to a positive impact. If you know any organizations or initiatives that need volunteers, I’d love to hear more about them.

Thanks in advance for your help!
