Question Kinda struggling with NoFap lately, would be keen for some advice.
Hey there Kings! It's been a while since I gave an update. I think I've been in isolation for over a month now? Fucking crazy.
I've been well! Exercising, and studying. I'm feeling really fucking good about myself lately. The only part of my discipline/routine that I'm not going well with is NoFap.
Fortunately, porn isn't a problem with me. I hate it, it disgusts me. If I never have to see it again, I'll be happy.
I met a girl recently, during isolation. Through a mutual friend. I thought she was cute, so I sent her a message on facebook explaining how i found her, and that our mutual friend vouches for me. We HIT IT OFF bro. It's been a fucking whirl. This last week has been like no other. We talk on the phone and face time, everyday. We talk, we laugh, we cry. We're not afraid to say anything to each other, we're both totally open books. We seriously just clicked in a way that I've never experienced before (and she hasn't either). I am seriously seriously seriously thinking that she will be my wife and the mother or my children one day. And she feels the same way about me.
The problem: We're both very sexual people. Which could be a good thing, if we we're trying to have children. I have no doubt that our sexual relationship, once we finally get out of isolation, will be amazing. But we're currently in isolation. And we've been mutually masturbating on facetime at nights. I told her initially about how i practice NoFap and semen retention. And she is understanding of my desires to abstain. But when it gets to 11pm-midnight, one thing always leads to another.
I don't know what to do. Stopping to talk to her is not an option. We do make each other better people, this has been the one thing that I'm not happy with in our relationship. The one negative influence. Any advice? Anyone in a similar situation, dealing with iso-dating?
Stay strong Kinds 💪👑💪

Question What is your employment status?
This is inspired by the other poll that's up. Career is a huge aspect of self-improvement but you don't see it mentioned here much. I'm currently employed but looking for a better job.
Being a financially-secure homemaker or raising kids counts as "employed" for this poll btw.

Question How to get over my degenerate past
I’m 17 and when I was sixteen I use to do dumb shit. I was a class clown and did drugs and almost went to jail. I was bad behaved and was friends with sluts. Until I found god I was chasing the carrot of clout and validation. I’m ashamed of my past how do I get over it I want people to forget.

Question Would there be desire for a weekly thread to post your social successes throughout the week?
I'm trying to be a lot more social (coronavirus isn't helping) and I think it would be interesting to have a weekly thread to post in about what I've been up to. It would help keep me accountable, and if others would do it too we could share notes and advice.
Would there be any desire to see this?

Question Just Learned About this subreddit, how do I get started?
What do you suggest? I am a musician and I practice at the same time for 2 hours every day and Ive been doing this for awhile but what else can I do to improve as a human.
For no fapping, should I start immediately and go as long as I can or is there methods of doing it such as limiting yourself more and more than stop doing it all together.
Im also no athlete so if that is important then theres that information.

Question Question about Political philosophy books and political books in general.
I recently bought some political/philosophy books that i have been planning to read for a while now.
Here is my current list of books:
Industrial society and its future by Ted Kaczynski
The ego and its own by Max Stirner
revolt against the modern world by Julius Evola
These books may be pretty boring but i am already determined to read them and understand them
Do you have any other good political books? They dont have to be right wing, i like to read about the political views i may not agree with but i want to understand everything better. Any reccomendations?

Question How do you fill your time?
I'm trying to come off a powerful internet addiction (which quarantine only exacerbated) and I'm having difficulty filling up my free time.
I'm not sure what to do other than browse the internet or play video games. My friends can't do anything due to ongoing social distancing, and even if they could, our schedules conflict enough that it would be weekly meetups at most. And most of the time we would just be watching something or playing video games.
Exercise can only take up so much time.
Social events only happen occasionally. Maybe I'm just not aware of the right ones?
Reading books can be okay, but a lot of the information feels inapplicable to my daily life, and reading is by nature an isolating activity. Learning new skills is similar in that it feels like a ton of effort for a very small reward. I've tried learning new languages multiple times, but stopped because I doubt I will ever need to use any of them. Most people both in America and abroad have some working level of English, and Google Translate is able to fill in most of the gaps.
Somehow the majority of people find productive ways to fill up their free time that don't involve sitting behind a screen. How do you use your time in a productive way, kings?

Question What are some good phone apps?
I got a new phone for Christmas and it's about three times more powerful than my previous one. I didn't need it still but I can't choose what I get.
It has so much more memory than my previous phone and I have no idea what to do with it and I don't want to be tempted to fill it up with games. I've got a few useful apps already that were on my previous phone such as Snapchat and Iron will (streak counter).
What useful apps would you lads recommend?

Question How do you console someone who is grieving or struggling?
A close friend of mine has a close relative who is in ICU after contracting covid-19. They're really heartbroken and scared, understandably. What are some ways to be there for them and help them feel better?

Question What is some music that has helped bring you self worth, self respect, outward respect, or just had a positive influence on you?
Music has a way of rhythmically influencing you and when used in the right moments can really make an impact on you for years, something big may happen you will relate a song to that moment and it will stick with you forever.
I worked with a group of Guatamala's for four years, they become good friends to me and many of my co-workers, there was something about their familial nature and looking after each other that really inspired me.
Roughly 30 of them were fired under some new ICE enforced law after Trump took office (not here for politics.) It was really somber their last few days, some of them trickled out and some stayed until their last day and I had some good times with them and some really teary-eyed moments. My shift had ended and I was getting ready to leave on their last day of work and it was so hard to walk out that door.
As I'm driving home, my aux cord breaks and I'm forced to turn on the radio, Wish you Were Here by Pink Floyd played and I just broke. If you're not familiar with the song, it was written about a man who was so lost with addiction that the band was unfamiliar with him, however the lyrics can generally relate to anyone who has lost someone. I will remember that moment forever and that song will always remind me of them. I miss my brothers.

Question What are the best exercises for wrist strength? I already do farmer walks (tightly holding weights and walking around) but I was curious if there’s any others
I’ve heard that a lot can cause nerve damage which is why I came here to see if anyone had any suggestions. I don’t have access to a bench press or pull up bars.

Question Fashion For Kings
Hey Kings,
I tried using other subs like r/malefashionadvice and r/frugalmalefashion but they always end up with either all black plus layering or streetwear. They also just recommend using super overpriced clothes. I just want a decent place to learn about fashion and clothes to look better and not look at the same 2 styles plus overpriced clothing.
what are you guys' ideas and thoughts on fashion?

Question What are the best social venues to meet people?
One of the most common problems raised by people on self-improvement subreddits is how difficult it is to make friends and meet other people. If you also have this problem, here are some social venues you may consider:
College
Work
College clubs based around hobbies or interests
Church groups
Political clubs and events (despite all the memes, Turning Point USA is pretty good for this)
It's also a great idea to show up early, since that is the best time for one-on-one socializing.
Are there any other social venues you would suggest for meeting people, forging connections, and making friends?
