Mobile/App Reddit Community Links fail on Android

Search a community, copy the link, post it into a message, fails with "Community Not Found"

E.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/t5_2vifh/s/MZ9oiRSxF3

That's supposed to lead to OverEaters Anonymous

Fails with multiple community Links.

Not sure the platform is relevant. Did not test elsewhere.

The above link comes when we go to the community page, hit the overflow menu (three dots to right), take the overflow menu on that page then select Copy Link.

I'm not asking about platforms.

I'm not asking how to find a community.

I'm asking why a link provided by Reddit doesn't work on Reddit.

The goal is to provide a link to another Redditor either in a post or a PM.

I'm not asking about an alternative/'better' way of doing that.

I'm asking why this particular method doesn't work.

Going to the community page, hitting the overflow menu, taking the overflow menu on that page, then selecting Copy Link, gave me this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/OvereatersAnonymous/s/mwECht3nHt

And that's not the link I was asking about.

You could just type in r/ followed by the community name to link it on reddit in a PM or comment.

For instance, you could type a message that says:

"Hey I am sorry to hear you are dealing with overeating. If you need support, there is a subreddit dedicated to helping you with overeating. r/OverEatersAnonymous is a good subreddit!"

The same works for usernames, such as, I hope this helps answer your question u/NetScr1be

It does not address the question at all because that is a workaround.

The question is why does a link provided by Reddit not work on Reddit.

Later today there will be a weekly post put up by TheOpusCroakus, I'd recommend asking this question on that thread so they can relay it to the relevant team

Thanks. That's at least a step in a new direction. It may even be forward ;)
