I read somewhere else that in LOTF Luke projected his full power to combine it with Jaina for her to prevail against Caedus, but the latter still had the edge for most of the fight. Is this correct? Cos it would mean Jacen became the strongest force-user, eclipsing luke himself. To clarify, I only read some of the novels up to NJO.

I was looking through YouTube and someone was claiming that order 66 was supposed to capture and retrain Padawans is there any confirmed lore for this or was it just a dumb youtube comment? Also I guess if that was palpatines plan how would this have worked? I know in legends he had a lot of dark jedi working for him was this supposed to be the original plan to have kidnapped young jedi and turn them into dark jedi?

During Empire Strikes Back, the whole purpose of freezing Han Solo in carbonite was to test the process to see if a person would survive the method. Darth Vader’s plan was to lure Luke Skywalker into freezing chamber to trap him and encase him in carbonite so that he could be delivered to the Emperor. Part of the suspense of the scene hinges on the viewer being unsure if Solo would survive. The romance plot between Princess Leia and Han comes to its climax during the scene. It’s a great example of storytelling and cinema. The use of carbonite freezing in EU largely ignores the idea that there was an uncertainty to Han surviving the process.
Off the top of my head, there are a few prime examples of this plot point. First, I remember in the Knights of The Old Republic games, droids had a stun ability that encased the player in carbonite. You could make the argument that since it’s a video game mechanic, that it isn’t going to be the most lore friendly aspect of expanded universe content in the first place. Fair enough, but the other examples escalate my annoyance with my critique of carbonite usage.
In an episode of The Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker comes up with the idea to freeze himself and his troops in carbonite to avoid detection by CIS forces. If Anakin Skywalker has personal experience with the process then why would there be a need to test it? Granted you could justify this discrepancy by claiming that it wasn’t Vader who needed assurance that the process was foul-proof, but rather it was Boba Fett. But why if Vader knows it would work, why even bother freezing Solo and passing it off as a test. Maybe because Han had eluded capture by Fett in the past? Not likely with an imperial garrison backing him up. Whatever, The Clone Wars is a cartoon, its target audience is kids, who probably just thought it was cool. My last example however comes from the intro to one of the most acclaimed pieces of Modern Star Wars.
In the series premier of The Mandalorian, Djin Djarin carbon-freezes a captured bounty using equipment that is installed on the Razorcrest. Somehow, in a relatively short period of time since Han was frozen technology had advanced to the point where it can be done from a gunship with zero risk? Even making the argument that there could have been advances in technology in the less than a decade amount of time since the events of Empire Strikes Back, technology advancement in Star Wars is pretty uncommon.
In canon, the retcon is that the facility on Cloud City was “crude.” Such a hand wave makes me realize I’ve probably put too much thought into this, but as I said before, I think it cheapens one of the most iconic scenes in Star Wars. In my opinion, the scene is one of the best scenes in American cinema. Carbon-freezing Han Solo created a real sense of suspense in the Empire Strikes Back, and EU and Canon have used it both as a memberberry.

Full disclosure, I have not yet read Rogue Planet or the NJO, so I don’t have a lot of knowledge regarding the sources of these concepts. Could someone enlighten me?

I finished the Mara Jade series and thought it was great. I think Zahn and Stackpole make a great team. How wild you compare it to the others?

Hey everyone, happy holidays!
I just finished the Darth Bane Trilogy and loved it!
I tried searching for a book that continues the story, but as far as I know, it doesn't exist. If that's the case, does anyone have any recommended books around the same time period? If not, maybe a book recommendation that dives into the Dark Side?
Edit: I'm so impressed with how fast I got the answer I was looking for. Thanks everyone!

If I wrote a Star wars book would I have to write for the Disney universe or can I choose for it to be in Legends?

When I say "loosely adapt", I mean taking the broad strokes of the story and the elements he wants, since it's obviously impossible to properly adapt most of the EU novels/comics.
