Rewatching this series for the 7th time... Spoiler

I always trip out when I am reminded that Dewey has daughters and a wife! This is my favorite show by far. Always, tricky to make an accurate cop show, but I just enjoy it as fictional entertainment.

Can someone explain the triple homicide in episode 2 season 2? Spoiler

Hello,

I just finished the 2nd episode the the 2nd season of Southland, and I haven't fully understood who killed the two girls and the woman? Is it the doctor? How is it possible? Lydia's partner says at the end of the episode that it was two other men but doesn't mention the doctor.

Thanks! Sorry for my bad english.

This show gives you zero wins and shits all over your face.

I guess they knew they wouldn’t renew and just said go shit all over the fans.

Fuck these writers

Bring the show back! [Spoilers] Spoiler

Anyone interested in revitalizing this thread again. I’m on my 4th rewatch of the show. So third time after it’s season finale... and I still hope we’ll have some kind of closure! The show was incredible and I can’t believe the directors and producers let the show die. I was hoping somewhere out there someone wrote a fan fiction finale for the entire show to wrap things up. Only thing I’ve found was that Cudlitz mentioned in an interview that Cooper doesn’t die in the season finale but can’t say what happens after that.

Why did Cooper tell Sherman to roll the window down in S1E1?

When Sherman and Cooper roll out for the first time Cooper tells Sherman to roll his window down. Anyone know why he did that?

Probably not necessary, but SPOILERS BELOW

So I watched the first two seasons when it originally aired and was hooked. I was excited to see Hatosy (an extremely underrated actor) in something that was made for him. Fast forward to season 3 and dealing with a breakup (the end of the world at the time - so stupid), and I couldn’t bring myself to watch without my ex since it was one of our shows. So fucking lame, I know. Since it was on TNT, I basically forgot it existed since who really watches TNT?

Fast forward to 2013 when the last season is airing and a coworker is talking about it. I was all, “holy shit, thank you, I need to go back and watch this.” Coworker didn’t know exactly when I stopped, but he said to me, “I’m surprised you ever recovered after Moretta.” I won’t lie, I think that was the first spoiler that brought actual tears to my eyes. So I did a quick google search with Nate and Southland, and I couldn’t bring myself to watch it.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I dunno what the hell I was watching that made me think of this, probably some crime documentary, but I was like fuck it. I’m watching the entire series, and I’m sooooo glad I did. Yes, Moretta’s murder as expected made me cry hysterically, but holy shit, that show was so fucking good. That cast was PERFECT. Every role was casted perfectly. Although there were a few plot holes, the acting was superb, and as I mentioned in the beginning, Hatosy is so underrated, but that role was made for him, and him only. And Cudlitz is another story. Cooper now goes down as one of my tv favorite characters of this generation.

I also used to watch the OC, so I loved watching McKenzie play the complete opposite of Atwood in every single aspect. And he did a damn good job of making me slowly hate him throughout the end of the series.

John Cooper is my favorite character in the history of television

SPOILER He is so complex and interesting. Comparatively speaking, they spend less time overall on his outside life when comparing him to Sammy, Ben or even Nate (RIP) but he is still easily the most intriguing on the show. The ending absolutely infuriated me and I screamed at my boyfriend for not warning me because he knew how I feel about Cooper!!

Death Notification

Does anyone know the episode in which Ben screwed up the Death Notification with the lady about her son?

Where he claims he can do it himself, Cooper lets him, and he yells at the woman, "Your son is dead. Okay?"

I'm trying to find the clip for class.

Considering watching

I'm considering watching Southland after watching a few YouTube videos of some scenes. But from some of the comments it looks like it was cancelled before the fans were ready. Is it still worth the watch? Or am I going to walk away disappointed and upset with the show?

Ben Sherman's Mom and David Morgan (rapist)?

So what exactly happened there? From what I gathered, it sounds like Ben's Mom offered to sleep with David Morgan when he came to their house demanding money the dad owed. Then Ben came downstairs and she cried rape which led to Ben trying to fight David and getting his teeth knocked out. So in essence Ben's mom put an innocent man in jail and had her son badly beaten due to her own fuck up.

Is that what happened?

Sherman's gf, Brooke

Why was her identity so attached to Ben's, I don't get it. Why did she refuse to be broken up with?

Plot progression?

I've just finished season 1. I really like the show so far but its plot differs from other similar TV shows,. Not sure how to explain it. For example, in The Wire every episode was a part of a bigger plot, in the Shield in latest seasons there was a main big plot too about the whole crew becoming more and more corrupt. In Southland, it mostly seems like there is no plot. Sure some things reoccur in different episodes and there is some progression. but MOSTLY I feel like every episode is a standalone story. Basically, my question is: will it change in later seasons or all of them are going to be like season 1? Will there be a main big plot story or something like that? Thanks

TV exec arrogance

It’s a total lack of respect and regard for the fans that they cancelled this show without a movie or partial season 6 to wrap up the story lines.

This happened to the show Jericho, which ended after 3 seasons, BUT there were comic books to finish the series.

When The Borgias was cancelled mid story, a play was published to finish it.

Couldn’t we at least have an AMA with the writers to get a little closure? Please??

[Question] Ben's Early Education Season 1

I know I have just started the show, but something is really bothering me. Ben says he attended Harvard-Westlake for one semester before having to go to public school since his dad didn't pay the tuition because he walked out. The tuition is only like 45k a year. And his mother lives in that ginormous house. How was she not able to pay the tuition?

Am I missing something? Is this an answer that is revealed later?

Thank you!

Tip on identifying censored version?

Never seen the show, want to watch for the first time uncensored. Got two copies of episode 1, different lengths, I'm thinking one of them is probably censored, the other not. Without watching both episodes, can someone tell me at what moment into the first episode I can find an example of censoring, so I can check?

Thanks!

What types of detectives were the characters? (( SPOILERS INSIDE)) Spoiler

I looked on the southLAnd wikia and it says that Detective Adams was a robbery homicide detective. Yet there are several episodes such as (Spoilers!!!!) at the end of season five she mentioned how RHD (robbery homicide) gets to take lead and gets all the glory?

Also Sammy I guess was a gang detective?

Tammy deserves to be executed

She’s the worst. I’m rewatching it, and I just skip all her scenes. Sammy is such a good guy. Also, why does he just move out of his own house instead of kicking her out? After all, it was his money which payed for it since she’s a piece of shit photographer.

S4 Epi8: God's Work Song?

Does anybody know what the song playing while Sherman beats Ronnie in the background is? Was it made for the show?

Here's another generic. Just finished Southland post

So I just finished Southland and god I must say what a show. I'm a very picky person and I usually avoid cop shows as I find just boring procedural dramas that make the police seem flawless in every scenario, however, this show not only made me eat my words but blew my expectations.

The last cop show I sorta enjoyed was True Detective and now I can proudly add Southland to the list. At first, I was frustrated with how seasons 3 ended with them saying goodbye Sal who seemed to me had much more development and the send off of Chickie which I feel was a highly neglected character. I'll be honest in saying that I almost quit watching after season three, but with how the show stuck to a specific story made it almost seem like a movie and I feel not many shows are able to do that.

I almost find it criminal how this show was canceled, but I understand money is more important
