There are some pretty decent tier lists of rare recruits (as subs/supports) on youtube and you should definitely check them out before you do anything with the units. You should not sell/trade any unit unless if its trash and unusable like I can't stress this enough, you never know when a certain unit will be that only missing unit on a team that could clear content and make your life easier, although I know that realistically speaking you can't have enough box space to keep a copy of every unit so please do your research before making any sort of decision/compromise

If you're doing only story mode, use any character you enjoy using. But if you're looking to clear anything past 5 ☆ encounters, take a look at the character specials you have and if does at least 3 actions (not including damage dealing), then they are worth keeping.
