Getting into the New World shouldn't be that hard if you get lucky with stamina refills or spend some gems. In the New World, if you don't have the TM RRs you really need all the f2p TM boosters you can get, they are sometimes so essential that not having one of them may mess up your whole TM.

For being a returned player, I'd recommend farming the f2p stuff in your pace.

I see. I will focus on f2p units. So it would pretty much be a bit of a waste to recruit for TM RR units if I'm just trying to get into New World?

Yeah, I wouldn't go for them if I were you, it is completely doable f2p if you are willing to spend some time on TM. If you want a high rank on Grand Line before going to New World, you can go for the TM RRs but the ranking rewards aren't as good as New World's.
