what characters are story appropriate characters? like can I use any luffy or only base luffy and does it have to be on its own or can I use crewmates?

I just came back and Im confused

When it says that you can use any unit of that name. So it can be any Luffy, but don't worry about story. You can literally auto the entire story up until the latest part with no chance of dying.

I wanna get that 10 gems that I could get using story appropriate characters because I tried using different luffy's in the alvida quest and didnt receive anything, tried using base zoro in whisky peak and still got nothing..

When did you complete these quests for the first time?

Because if it was before the 10.0 patch, you already got those gems, but if it was after then it still says that you should complete the quests to get the gems, even if you already got them.

I only got to arlong park before the patch, after the patch I didnt play story mode until I saw these 10 gems. Like I said I tried doing the quest using zoro in whisky peak and got nothing.

The story appropriate characters thing is just a bonus to their stats, there’s no bonus rewards for doing so. The gems that are shown in the description of stages are the first time clear rewards, it’s a bit confusing.
