ENG Analysis Dupe Legend Management Diagram!

Starting out in OPTC one of the most difficult decisions to make is whether or not you should keep a dupe copy of a legend! Everyone has been in that situation and when i was starting out i was struggling with my dupe management because the game can be chaotic for a new player. Thinking about all the great tools the community has made for the game we all love, i decided to contribute and for a while i have been working on making a generalized diagram featuring some basic questions to help you decide if you should keep the dupe you just pulled or maybe sell it to the Rayleigh Shop/use it for limit break fodder. I also made a video explaining the diagram and my thought process in a more detailed way in case anyone wants that!

Dupe Legend Management Video : https://youtu.be/qBZhYm7OKw0

If for some reason you can't get the diagram directly from Reddit you can also find it here : https://twitter.com/Reaper24YT/status/1307349283650375680

Editor's Notes :

  1. The diagram has been made with the Global version of One Piece Treasure Cruise in mind, although i am pretty sure it can work for the majority of the new Japan legends as well.
  2. The diagram has been made without taking the upcoming Pirate Rumble into consideration. I don't know a lot about the new mode yet, so if necessary i will implement changes for it when i have a good understanding of Pirate Rumble.
  3. The question : "Is the special or captain ability any good" is catered to more experienced players and can be difficult to answer by new players, so keep a copy of every legend at 3 until you have a better understanding of the game.
  4. Some legends are so bad that they are probably not worth to keep 3 times, but because you never know, it's better to play it safe.

Correction :

  1. For Corazon and V1 Rayleigh you don't actually need the dupe one to have the support at Lv.3, since Lv.1 does the same thing, so just don't exceed Lv.3. Thanks to Mando895 for noticing!

With the recently announced V3 Akainu or the Super Type sugo-fest coming soon i hope this diagram can help out! If i missed something or you think a section can be added to make the diagram more detailed, let me know and i will take it into account if i do an updated version. I would really love to know your thoughts on my project! Have a nice day and best of luck with your future pulls and dupe management!

I haven't had the chance to look at the video, but if you're going to use the diagram as reference, you should add a new node in the diagram for the support abilities.

From my point of view it should be something like this:

1. Does it have a support ability

  • Yes: go to next point

  • No: keep it, support abilities are hard to max and it may be useful. (You only need a max of 5 dupes)

2. If it has support ability is it simply a stats booster

  • Yes: Not necessary, sell it if you don't have many Rayleigh points.

  • No: Max the ability, there is a lot of cases where it will be useful to have, whether it's a debuff remover or a small booster.

As a side note, there will be people that may consider stats only support abilities to be useful, as you can get extra damage, but I'm of the opinion that you can manage with F2P units for that.

To answer you question about Pirate Rumble, extra copies are completely unnecessary, you can only level up with flags and you usually want to use the evolved version for better stats.

Finally there may be a discussion about whether you should use dupes to max limit break abilities or simply tablets. My recommendation is that if you have a good number of Rayleigh points, use the dupes. Tablets are not that easy to get and have a frustratingly low rate of success.

Support abilities are becoming easier and easier to max out, as with every initially scarce resource introduced to OPTC over the years. We've got so many events by now where you could farm them. Just going all-in on the last Team Kizuna could've yielded you around 3k support medals.

I'd personally advise against using legends for support levels with that in mind.

I guess that's true, but I'm also on the more casual side, where I try to grind a bit to max F2P units and mostly leave ranking events alone to not burn myself too much, and I end up struggling a bit to gather medals. So I guess it all depends on what playing style you have and what you prioritize.

Aside from that, I think it's a good guide and I'm glad people are creating more guides for newer players, with how complex the game has been getting over the years.

Well unfortunately supports are usually quite useless until maxed, so you either pull 5 dupes (yikes) or you have sufficient medals anyways. A level 1 support usually won't help.

IMO it's better to use Legend dupes as RP (since Global actually gets stuff to buy with RP) OR to max LB certain Legends - LB affects PF stats so some old units like V1 Sanji or V1 Doffy are worth rainbowing.

One side note to that - only use dupes for LB when all LB nodes aside from Anti Heal and Slot Bind are maxed - soo many units have those LB abilities so there's not nearly enough tablets to go around. You wouldn't want to waste your dupe for a DR LB level up for instance, so max those with tablets before feeding dupes.
