Hmm. So it's not just 100 years of recorded history lost, it was all history before the great flood? If the sea level rose by 200m than the majority of land and landmarks will have been lost, leaving a very small remainder of land. Surely any history from before the void century would predominantly describe the lost world.

That’s right, since the world became flooded, every futuristic kingdom there ever was, became lost to civilization. So yeah the void century hides what happened in those 100 years, but because of the events that took place there, by hiding what happened there, you hide what happened before the void century, which is insane when you think about it. The events that happened there were so drastic, that you only need to hide that century so that you can effectively hide all history before that

I'm guessing the historians and scientists know all about the sea level rise and the lost world, but they don't know how or why it happened, and it's that 100 years that nobody knows. Vegapunk hasn't actually yet revealed anything in this message that any historian, oceanographer and geologist would already be thinking, ie, man made disaster, sudden sea level rise - but Vegapunk's already said he doesn't know their motives etc, he might not actually reveal anything in particular in this message ha

What historian?? The WG has killed everyone that was researching the past and erased all books or writing about this topic. We only know about it from Robin cuz she can read poneglyphs and we are following the main characters. Even if you saw a whole city under water, you wouldn’t immediately assume the entire world sank 200 meters, you might think a devil fruit user destroyed one city long ago. I mean fujitora, whitebeard, Blackbeard lots of people have that much power. Even doffy nearly sliced an entire civilization to pieces with strings

Yeah it doesn't make sense, they told us only that only one century was erased, the world should know what happened before. Not all details, like the technology of the ancient kingdom, but the foundations of how the world was

It's the World Government at their inception, no doubt over time they silenced those who wouldn't keep that information to themselves while shaping the then known world as they saw fit.

I'm guessing the world does know most of this but are forbidden of talking about the old world, Vegapunk's only revealing all this really to the reader

No, we know some things about the era before the void century.

I always wondered why they called it the 'Void Century' if they clearly didn't know anything about what happened BEFORE then either...
