Didn't Buggy said something in the beginning of the manga, that the greatest treasures were found at the bottom of the ocean? And that was the reason he did not want a devil fruit.

This whole thing might really be set up from the start.

You jest but I'm 100% convinced that Buggy will walk away from this being mistaken as the pirate king by the majority of the world. It's the narratively perfect endpoint for his endless upward failings.

The acclaim will follow him around the world, causing him endless grief to the day he dies as WG sycophants try to take revenge, fortune and fame seekers try to make names for themselves by killing or robbing from him and admiring children swarm him in public, inevitable resulting in one of them running off with a piece (or more) of his body.

You know how DFs are suspected to pick their users? What if Buggy was chosen by the chopchop fruit as the catalyst to tear down the red line? Awakened chop chop has the same potential as the quake quake and since that's with BB now, can we see Buggy x Luffy team to tear down the red line?

I wouldn't be too sure, it's been said that Oda knew the beginning and end of One Piece but didn't have anything concrete in the middle. With it being so close to the end we may be circling back into the final stretch that was planned from the start.

Oda has known the ending since he began the story. People definitely give him too much credit for foreshadowing some stuff sometimes but we're in the endgame now and a bunch of the biggest reveals from here on out are going to be things he's planned since the start.
