I wonder if Nojiko specifically is leaving to find some of Namis old drawings of maps to see if something is up.

Nami been drawing maps for close to a decade, and was unnaturally good at it. Maybe Nojiko will find 2 different drawings of the same island showing different coastal lines.

We've been getting so many minor cameos, let's get the weather wizards pouring over charts in a panel.

Imagine if the Weather Wizards appear and go "We already knew lmao why did you think we were on the sky?"

perhaps nami also drew the ocean depth on her maps and nojiko will go back and make a copy of her map but outlining the 200m depth line to see the ancient continent(s) of the east blue

You might be right. There's a mention of depth in one of the panels that references their use by Arlong's pirates: https://i.imgur.com/D1AxHGk.png

Arlong saying he needs maps so fishmen can reign the world also feels different now, given that he might actually have knowledge we don't know about, due to being near the ocean floor.

It would be wild if Arlong knew all along.

I think its an interesting idea.

Oda always said he knew exactly how he wanted the series to end and I personally think this plot point is what he had in mind - based on the overwhelming amount of little details pointing towards the rising water levels.

If we assume he had the early part of the series planned as well, it could be somewhat safe to assume that Arlong Park was part of that.

We know a lot of the middle part got added later after the success of the manga.

So maybe he was inteded to have that knowledge before the story outgrew his significance

I really think she just went to water her tangerines. Someone tells you the world could possible end what the fuck else are you going to do. Even in war zones you still see people going to work and school.

I kinda doubt it, all maps with accurate depth info would've been destroyed along with Arlong Park. But I like the idea of plotting the original map of the world like that, I feel like someone will probably do that at some point to let us visualize just how much was drowned by the ocean.
