Vegapunk: Drops the most massive lore reveal in the history post Void Century

Nojiko: Fuck outta here, I have to water my Tangerines

uhhh, based?

I saw this like she was thinking fondly of Nami and how she's doing, and doesn't really care about the global stuff.

Yeah, its like in real life. I doubt EVERYONE was watching or cared about the moon landing or other significant events. For some people their daily lives and loved ones are enough. That doesn't mean they are shady.

She's just tangerinepilled orchardmaxxer

16

u/RiciZ May 23 '24

“Someone has to water these tangerines for when my dear sister comes back home”

16

u/piclemaniscool May 23 '24

World is sinking? Well there goes Naomi's dream of mapping all the islands. Better get the orchard read for her return

4

u/johntrevor2005 May 23 '24

Oh well Nami's dream is shaping into charting the whole of That world....

u/takato99 May 23 '24

Honestly, what does all of this even matter for normal citizen ? Especially those that aren't under direct jurisdiction from marine or one of the 20 kings ?

She'd rather take care of whats truly precious to her, the thing that represents her adoptive family and their legacy rather than overfocus on big lore dump that will only make everyone anxious when she can't do anything about it.

Its a reasonable reaction tbh and she smiles because she knows her sis is at the heart of all that mayhem yet again in egghead (its known that luffy's crew is there).

I think it somehow calls back to luffy not listening to nami's backstory?

Could be that the history of the word doesnt matter. What happens now is more important. Just like how luffy acted during nojiko telling nami's history.

This was an odd scene. I wonder what is going on with her

243

u/KitsuneKamiSama May 23 '24

She just knows she can't do anything about it and so just goes on living her life.

u/AGoodRogering May 23 '24

Yeah if anything it adds a human perspective to the conflict and is far more realistic. Life desensitizes you to catastrophe we all hear abt travesty almost daily but all still have bills to pay.

Like i read that line and was like "lmao relatable"

u/CelioHogane May 23 '24

She was so fucking based.

"Man that sucks i hope my sister fixes that"

10

u/BDMac2 May 23 '24

One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is just a statistic.

25

u/Worthyness May 23 '24

"Good luck sis. Have fun inciting rebellion. I'm gonna go tend to the tangerines now"

20

u/NotGloomp May 23 '24

Nami figured it out a long time ago.

15

u/guipabi Void Month Survivor May 23 '24

Nami's map already contains the sunken continents. That would be crazy

Foreskin Theory:

Imu is Nojiko. Notice how Nojiko left and then we saw Imu.

Have any of you seen them both in the same panel????

Check mate, Revolutionaries.

13

u/revisioncloud May 23 '24

Nojiko is IMU

Had to “water her tangerines” but really needed to be menacing in her garden to express frustration about the Vegapunk broadcast

u/ArthurDimmes May 23 '24

There's a saying: "No one in a horror movie knows they're in a horror movie." We as readers know that this information is huge and serious but to the people of the one piece world, everyone is going to react differently or not even care.

18

u/GambianSlange Void Month Survivor May 23 '24

First thing that came to mind is that she's gonna find some crazy devil fruit there

12

u/Particular_Belt4028 The Revolutionary Army May 23 '24

shes going to find pluton and uranus

9

u/0hran- Marine May 23 '24

For sure if she wants she can easily found my anus

1

u/Particular_Belt4028 The Revolutionary Army May 23 '24

OH NAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

6

u/G8_recruit May 23 '24

I just mentioned the same thing in the comments. Who tends to their garden when they’re getting insane news like that. Very shady…

17

u/mishumishumishu May 23 '24

There are real people, in our real world, who don't care about our real climate change, or rising sea levels. Some people are genuinely ignorant or don't believe it's real, but others adopt a mindset of "Well what the hell can I do about it? Fuck it, might as well try to enjoy life while we're still here." I doubt there's anything shady going on with Nojiko.

Meanwhile Oda next chapter:

Nojiko enters her Tangerine farm and we see that there is a snail. There is a slow zoom over three panels and it is in fact Vaga Punk's snail which is broadcasting all this. She leans forward and mumbles: "All according to plan"

1

u/Zholistic May 24 '24

Maybe tangerines are the only place a special devil fruit can grow

4

u/kaas_is_leven May 23 '24

If Nami left a clue there about underwater traces of civilization I'm gonna lose my mind. She was actively working with the one prominent group of fishmen outside of Fishmen Island, who tasked her with drawing a map of the world. They even mentioned how they knew much more about the ocean floor, its currents, etc than mere humans. Hachi's cover story shows underwater buildings. She's also utterly unfazed by current revelations, although that could be because there's no broadcast where she's at. What if she knew? And what if her dream isn't to draw all the island, but to draw the old world?

2

u/Kuro013 May 23 '24

I mean, these news will be spread all over the world and everyone will end up learning about VP speech sooner rather than later.

2

u/MickMcMackMac May 23 '24

After that scene, I feel like Nojiko is the personal embodiment of the quote "It's the little things in life."

1

u/sanctaphrax May 23 '24

She did leave immediately after the bit concerning Nami's dream. Might be significant.

2

u/antiviral_mark May 24 '24

I just thought she was actually anxious, and went to her place of comfort. The tangerine fields makes her feel like she's with Nami and Bellemere maybe.

1

u/MariJoyBoy May 24 '24

Luffy was sleeping when she explained the whole Nami situation, so why not XD

1

u/HawasKaPujari May 24 '24

She is based in East blue.

u/DrZapi Void Month Survivor May 23 '24

I found her lack of care more annoying than the Mock town fools.
