Damn, Saturn really looks like a demon here.

Or Saturn Devouring the Sun

From the thick brow to what appear to be scars on the Francisco, that looks VERY intentional.

Maybe this implies some familial connection between Saturn and the original Joyboy?

Saturn eats Kizaru?

I would be mighty impressed by you and Oda if his eyes are actually referencing this artwork.

It's very likely, just look at how similar the eyes are, and since Oda takes so much inspiration already from the real world that he has put in One Piece.

Are you literally going to sit here and say this panel isn’t referencing this painting? SERIOUSLY??? Are you trolling?

thematically appropriate, if bonney is his daughter as implied...

I missed this totally, whats this about bonney being Saturn's daughter? What are the hints?

Bonney was one of Saturn’s experiments, and her mom was a slave. Oda has already implied that female slaves get raped all the time in Mariejois (Bonny’s mom, Boa Hancock, to name a few). Wouldn’t put it past Saturn to do it himself. Man…this is just got so dark… And yes, “Saturn “ the Titan was famous in Greek/Roman mythology for familial abuse and cannibalism. The painting that original commenter posted says it all

Wow. Thanks you for pointing this out. This is why i come here. And why Goda is Goda. I don’t know why people try to read extra out there meanings into OP when there are enough obvious ones already, if you just dig. I mean, Goda’s hidden meanings are hidden enough that you don’t see them until someone points them out, but once they’re pointed out you can’t dispute them. The dude’s name is literally SATURN. This is the equivalent of a title drop. It’s obvious that panel was based on that painting! Good catch!!
