I'm sure the Venom + having to fight those two will make Luffy be hurt for a few days, like usual.

He’s strong against poison after Magellan so he should be okay.

He would have died without Reiju sucking him at the start of WCI.

Dota detected

That just means he'll have a good fight and will neither be immune nor be fatally in peril from the venom.

u/milkyjoe241 Feb 22 '24

He's ground type not steel.

So it makes sense.

The point of him being constantly exposed to poison and toxic substances is that he's becoming immune. It's been a very long running theme

u/gottlikeKarthos Feb 22 '24

It'd be kinda funny if Imu or blackbeard have OP poison powers in their final fight and luffy just picks his nose in confusion

u/wolololo00 Prisoner Feb 22 '24

that's neuro toxin, different breed of poison, unlike magellan's.

We could be about to see the same pattern though.

Poisoned by Magellan -> Saved by Ivankov -> Gains poison resistance

poison resistance seems to have allowed him to survive the neurotoxin when it should've killed someone instantly so maybe:

Neurotoxin poisoning by fish -> Saved by Reiju -> Gains neurotoxin resistance

I think Magellan's final form is the worst one and Luffy cannot deal with that because he has no immunity with that level.

1

u/nemestrinus44 Feb 23 '24

considering Magellan's final form was strong enough to melt stone yeah i think that would still work on Luffy despite his insanely high resistance

8

u/Opening-Cheetah467 Feb 22 '24

Luffy that bastard, wants to get that treat from Reiju again 😂

5

u/hornyboi212 Feb 22 '24

I would also pretend to be hurt by poison if that means reiju would be sucking me.

u/Kioga101 Pirate King Buggy Feb 22 '24

He would have, but we need to remember that now Luffy is an Awakened Zoan user. His already strong resistance plus the vitality being awakened gives out could be enough to make Saturn's venom feel more like a Jellyfish Sting than something truly fatal.

u/OperationMelodic4273 Feb 22 '24

That fish was extremely plot-venomous, far more than Magellan's poison attacks that fucked Luffy up

But both before and after he's never been quite affaceted by any poison to a big extent

u/RobLuffy123 Feb 22 '24

Any normal person would have died basically instantly. The reason he was still alive so that she could do that was because of his resistance

2

u/LANewbie678 Feb 23 '24

I'd pretend to be poisoned if Reijuu sucked me too

u/FireZord25 Feb 22 '24

Unless this is tier 4 poison (I'm power scaling Magellan's as tier 2 and the one cured by Reiju as Tier 3), this one might not even hurt Luffy that much. The problem will be if another character comes in contact for some reason.

u/Etiennera Pirate King Buggy Feb 22 '24

What we can tell is that the tree blackened right away but Luffy so far is not having issues.

Two options other than immunity are: only his leg spikes are venomous, or some more vague translation error

u/mythrowawayornot Feb 22 '24

Even if Luffy's resistance wasn't enough, I'm sure toon force can counter anything.

1

u/batanabanana22 Feb 22 '24

And it only made him MORE resistant to it. Not to mention the poison from down was on the outside, he ATE that one from the inside. It's not hard to think about

1

u/Slammybutt Feb 23 '24

I like to think that Luffy's cooking is more poisonous than Magellan now lol.

u/VidShala Feb 23 '24

If someone who doesn't read one piece reads this comment.

1

u/ovrlymm Feb 23 '24

His natural resistance might’ve received a boost after that since OP logic works like that. (In real life your body might go into anaphylactic shock after coming across it multiple times)

Also “phrasing” lol

3

u/Perpli Feb 22 '24

He's strong against poison but is there any evidence that the same resistence is for venom too?

4

u/OhItsKillua Feb 22 '24

Isn't venom a kind of poison essentially?

8

u/Tripottanus Feb 22 '24

They are similar, but the ingestion method is different. Rule of thumb is "if you bite it and and you die its poison, if it bites you and you die its venom"

2

u/Perpli Feb 22 '24

Honestly not sure, maybe someone more knowledgable can chime in.

But it's also One Piece where the power of love can block light, so probably will just depend on how Oda wants to play it.

2

u/Starob Feb 22 '24

I just think storyline wise Oda isn't gonna rehash the Luffy being poisoned thing again.

Besides, him now being resistant to it would be the payoff for all the times it did happen.

1

u/Kantro18 Feb 24 '24

I don’t think he’s fully immune I’m sure Sanji noting Saturn is coated from head to toe in venom and Luffy grabbing him like that will have repercussIons.

People confuse Poison and Venom. Poison is consumed for it to have its fullest affect. Venom is injected into your body via the blood steam. Like a Poisonous tree frog vs venomous snake.

They are not the same.

This will be One piece first venom user
