Love how insanely towering Dorry and Broggy are made to look in the backdrop of a buster call , makes it seem like the madmen are about to slice the island in half lol

And thats just two of them. Imagine an army of them. Elbaf got that firepower 🔥

u/echolog Feb 01 '24

Isn't Elbaf pretty much the only island to successfully defend itself against whatever happened during the void century?

u/np497 Lurker Feb 01 '24

Probably Wano too

389

u/Roskal Black Leg Sanji Feb 01 '24

Wano survived with its geography. Elbaf survived with its army.

49

u/Howard_NESter Feb 01 '24

Wano also survived probably because they have their own Pluton (At least the ancient Wano did)

32

u/Navigathor1000 Feb 01 '24

As I understand it, wano only survived because they managed to raise these massive walls, sinking most of old wano and pluton and cutting themselve off from most of the world in the process, but creating an inpenetrable protection.

u/Alche1428 Feb 01 '24

Wasn't the old Wano flooded by rain and not actually the sea?

1

u/Navigathor1000 Feb 01 '24

I don't think they mentioned how the water got there. They just showed all the submerged land and that the outer walls are holding the water in.

15

u/E_maane Feb 02 '24

No, they mention that the water that submerged Wano is rainwater multiple times (the fact that the carps going up the waterfall are river fish, or when robin and Law find the poneglyph )

7

u/Snyyky Void Month Survivor Feb 02 '24

Its mentioned that its actually rain

15

u/StickiStickman Feb 01 '24

Isn't that THE Pluton?

6

u/dactyif Feb 01 '24

Wano is Switzerland, elbaf is Nepal.

Geography... Opening borders... I still think wano isn't what it seems and we will see when it open borders.

My take is that it's the back of a giant turtle hibernating.. bigger han zunisha.. and only him can wake it up.

Maybe a ling legged one like him.

u/PMMeForAbortionPills Feb 02 '24

Lion Turtle would be fitting East Asian mythology

1

u/Starob Feb 02 '24

Wano is a giant ship, a parallel to Thriller Bark but much much much bigger. It's Pluton.

3

u/Buscemi_D_Sanji Feb 02 '24

Iceberg is already turning water 7 into a giant ship, and thriller bark exists... I doubt Oda would have yet another "island turned into a ship" plotline.

1

u/crimzind Feb 02 '24

Orrr, we can go the TTGL route. Island ships. ..and then Continental>Planet>Galaxy Ships...

1

u/Starob Feb 02 '24

And why would Iceberg get the idea for a ship like that? Maybe because he already knows about Pluton.

1

u/CHiZZoPs1 Feb 02 '24

Well, Kizaru wasn't sent to Wano, because they didn't know the how powerful the samurai were, and erred on the side of too strong. They do have a fearsome reputation.

20

u/yosayoran Feb 01 '24

Well, Wano had to wall itself and disconnect entirely from the rest of the world

Elbaf is just there, doing their thing

u/crazydiamond11384 Prisoner Feb 01 '24

We saw it with Saul, a giant can take down a warship themselves. You would probably need a fleet as big as the summit war to invade elbaf.

15

u/Whomperss Feb 01 '24

Yeppp. If you disconnect yourself from the top tier fighters and just look at nation based armies the giants are basically undefeatable in a large scale war until tech reaches a level that lets the WG compete.

7

u/crazydiamond11384 Prisoner Feb 01 '24

Like the ancient weapons or whatever IMU got in the sky.

10

u/Whomperss Feb 01 '24

More along the lines of the pacifistas. They need comparably powerful ground troops. And now the Kuma ones that composes most of their cyborg forces is under the control of bonney a devour follower of nika lol.

2

u/Complete_Proof1616 Feb 01 '24

I mean it seems unlikely they would be able to stop Imu from just sky-deleting them but who knows they probably have some Norse-mythology type crazy powers too

4

u/Whomperss Feb 01 '24

I only stray away from that weapon currently because they made it seem like it's still experimental and not usable on a whim. Or they don't use it because of how badly it fucks the world up in terms of the sea level as we saw before. They're tyrants but if they destroy to much of the world they wouldn't have anything left to rule.

2

u/Toastman132 Void Month Survivor Feb 01 '24

Well the move big mom and kaido use against zoro is the same move dorry and broggy use against the giant goldfish, if all the giants together used that move it could probably redirect the mother flame, but that's head cannon

6

u/echolog Feb 01 '24

I think we're starting to realize that Yonko aren't all that powerful, which is probably why they haven't really made too many moves until now. Big Mom couldn't take on the giants herself. Kaido probably would've had his hands full too. Shanks was smart enough to make friends with them, and Luffy... well Luffy is Luffy. You can't hate Luffy.

The Yonko might be the most individually powerful pirates, but the combined forces of the World Govt, Marines, Revolutionaries, Giants, etc. all have yet to really be revealed. Stuff's crazy.

2

u/Jwoods4117 Feb 01 '24

I mean to be fair from what we’ve seen I think a smaller strike force would work much better. Send in Kizaru and like 20 vice admirals and I think they’d be able to do a lot of damage to the giants. Big Mom did a lot of damage by herself if I remember right. I think we’ll probably either get a jump in power with Dorry/Broggy or see a few even stronger giant characters introduced because from what we’ve seen pretty much all of the giants so far are glass cannons.

3

u/crazydiamond11384 Prisoner Feb 01 '24

And you think this strike force will all come in a sloop? Nah they got so big of an ego that they need a warship each. That’s why they never bothered to invade elbaf.

1

u/Jwoods4117 Feb 01 '24

Yeah I mean I do think you’re right. The navy is pretty flashy and would lose a lot of people probably, but they do have CP units. It’s not like the WG doesn’t know how to be low key on occasion. I’m just saying that would probably work pretty well if they put aside their ego and used a small strike force.

1

u/crazydiamond11384 Prisoner Feb 01 '24

A lot of reasoning as to why new world states don’t invade one another is the cost would be too high. Only the beast pirates have been shown to be so asinine to invade a nation while suffering high casualty. Despite what is believed of the marines, they always balance their cost and benefits. All buster call (except from enis lobby) were used because the problem was deemed too dangerous to be left alone.

7

u/ScrapeWithFire Feb 01 '24

But they couldn't defend themselves against a 5 year old human girl

4

u/Outrageous-Elk-5392 Feb 01 '24

Who would win, an army of giants who withstood the onslaught of Imu and the world government or a really really hungry little girl

2

u/ruisen2 Feb 01 '24

The switzerland of the OP world

1

u/winnebagomafia Feb 14 '24

And Usopp's about to have 8000 of them under him 😤
