"He might gobble us up if we get any closer" - Luffy has taken Big Mom's place.

Chad Cannibal Yonkous (Big Mom, Luffy, perhaps BB, Kaido) vs Virgin non Cannibal Yonkous (Shanks, Buggy)

Edit: kaido switched sides

279

u/RoboticusTartonicus Feb 01 '24

Tbf kaido did eat luffy a bunch of times. Just kept not getting to enjoy his rubbery meal from him popping back out

Love how insanely towering Dorry and Broggy are made to look in the backdrop of a buster call , makes it seem like the madmen are about to slice the island in half lol

933

u/The420Roll Feb 01 '24

And thats just two of them. Imagine an army of them. Elbaf got that firepower 🔥

496

u/echolog Feb 01 '24

Isn't Elbaf pretty much the only island to successfully defend itself against whatever happened during the void century?

307

u/np497 Feb 01 '24

Probably Wano too

395

u/Roskal Black Leg Sanji Feb 01 '24

Wano survived with its geography. Elbaf survived with its army.

Did Dorry and Broggy see Luffy’s new bounty poster and immediately know it was Nika?

641

u/Starless_Night Feb 01 '24

The giants do have a whole festival devoted to the sun, so it makes sense.

325

u/GeneralUnlikely266 Feb 01 '24

Also, the giant robot seems to get moved by nikas heartbeat. The last time it happened was 200 years ago. There could be giants alive who saw the last Joyboy. The whole timeline is still a mystery so. Zunesha said the last time joyboy was there was 800 years ago. Something strange is going on, but as we will know Oda he is cooking some gourmet shit

Giants are back on the menu boys!

I hope their weapons got sharpened, because they're not against Baroque Works this time!

1.9k

u/HokageEzio Feb 01 '24

The power creep we're about to witness from Dorry and Brogy is gonna be generational.

800

u/Geeeck0 Feb 01 '24

What was their bounty back then? 100 millions each?

Let's bump that rookie number, shall we?

1.1k

u/GeneralUnlikely266 Feb 01 '24

100 million, but 100 years before the story started. No idea how big inflation is in the one piece world, but it makes sense that it should be alot higher now

385

u/Haiel10000 Bandit Feb 01 '24

Inflation hit hard in One Piece.

351

u/Bowslep Feb 01 '24

They also trained for 100 years after getting those bounties, so most likely are a lot stronger than back then.

They really were only sneak attacked back then and we csn discount them not using observation Haki on a combo of underestimating any threats and it not being a thing back then.

Their combined attack was already shown to be somewhere around Emperor level and insane back then

the only reason both got smoked by baroque works was by a surprise attack

one broggy alone would no diff the entire baroque

we've reached the climax

476

u/KamiAlth Feb 01 '24

Nah, they got smoked because serious Mr.3 was simply too strong. It’s their bad luck that they had provoked the future 1st commander of Buggy D. Clown himself.

197

u/Izakytan Feb 01 '24

To be fair, Mr 3 is dangerous and the Little Garden arc showed us how. When he's calculated, his power can do wonders and horrors.

235

u/Geeeck0 Feb 01 '24

Without Mr.3, nobody would have escaped Impel Down, Magellan would have cooked everyone.

Watching Vegapunk finally telling the WG to stick it is cathartic as fuck

49

Vegapunk the MVP with that command authority. Bonney being the supreme authority is much more fitting than earlier speculations like Dragon or Kuma.

1.3k

u/GeneralUnlikely266 Feb 01 '24

For real. In hindsight, its insane too me how I didnt saw a single theory that bonney could have the command over all pacifista. It makes so much sense

339

u/Okey114 Feb 01 '24

Feels like it was well planned out too. Bonney didn't see the PX-1s at Sabaody (How long ago?). Then on EggHead she was so heartbroken she never spoke when the PX-3s were around.

Love it but now I'm curious on where her storyline is going to go from here. Her goal was to kill Vega punk and then Saturn but after this fight, what will her new goal be?

253

u/GeneralUnlikely266 Feb 01 '24

Thats a good question. After seeing luffy as nika, I'm guessing she probably will be an ally for the future. I would like to see her as a strawhat, but I know thats a bit unrealistic at this point. Maybe she becomes part of the strawhat grandfleet? Instead of her old crew, she would have the pacifista, s-bear and kuma with her. That would be a terrfying powerup for the grandfleet

Since Giants have the longest lifespans in the world of One Piece (as far as we know), it makes sense they would know some stuff about Nika

386

u/Lemming3000 Feb 01 '24

No living giant is as old as the void century, but its possible the oldest giants grandfathers were alive during it if they were equally long lived, but the giants worship a sun god we know this from big moms backstory, that whole fasting period (that drove big moms first tantrum) the giants take part in is a festival for the sun god.

292

u/khalichanan Feb 01 '24

As a historian, the concept of ‘living memory of living memory’ is very important to how a society views a period of history. If there are people alive today who have interacted at some point in their life with someone who experienced an event, it feels far more relevant to our culture. That’s one of the reasons why, for example, WWI feels far more relevant to us, as there are plenty of people still alive now who knew someone who fought in it, even if all those who fought in it are now dead. The void century is far closer to ‘living memory of living memory’ with the giants than it is for other beings in One Piece.

Reminder that the Giants of Elbaf have the strongest Army.

That it was a big thing the Marines got their first Giant in their rank.

That Big Mom was sure she would have defeated every other Emperors with an army of Giant.

That the research to create Giant is also important and something done since a long time.

That Giants, with their long life, are the one the most likely to have more information on the void Century.

I can't wait for Elbaf.

This chapter is like an orgasm in the best possible way. There is payoff for so many things.

My favourite is the Bonny Command. When Vegapunk kept talking about the command structure of the Pacifistas I knew there would secretly be somebody at the top, above the world government. I would have never guessed Bonney at that point.

Then, we get Bounce House! Unless it happened before and I missed it? This is the first time we have seen the crew and others bouncing all over the place due to Luffy's power. People speculated on Luffy's awakening for YEARS that he would turn the world rubber, and my favourite name for this was "Bounce House". 5/7 would meme again.

Then... Dorry and Frikken Broggy! Who we have been waiting to see the crew again since around chapter 129? ONE THOUSAND CHAPTERS LATER! We saw them with Shanks not long ago which was sick as hell, but I did not expect them to turn up here, to escort the Strawhats personally to Elbaf! I am so excited to see some Usopp action!

Line of the Episode: "A Buster call is a tame problem for him..."

Sploosh.

THE PACIFISTA WENT ROGUE. BONNEY IS AT THE TOP OF THE PYRAMID. VEGAPUNK HAD A BRAIN, CONFIRMED.

u/tryingmydarnest Feb 01 '24

VEGAPUNK HAD A BRAIN

not brain. a heart. (and a pair of steely balls to sneak the backdoor in despite the risk of Saturn finding out)

348

u/Ckcw23 Feb 01 '24

It just means Saturn was just boasting how much better he is than Vegapunk, when he was just a nobody compared to him.

Good point. He might not have expected the Bonney trick, but he explicitly told Vegapunk he'd make sure the bomb was there and still failed.

I am so hyped, can't wait to see the marines get their ass kicked. Also I am so hyped for Dory and Broggy

Giants coming in, the big robot is finally moving and it looks like Nika is the key, also Vegapunk hinting to the fact that people have been waiting hundreds of years for him makes it even more likely. This chapter is a banger.

I guess Vegapunk will die like 99% I don't see how his betrayal doesn't end up messing him up. Especially I don't see Saturn letting him get away with it.

Dorry and Brogy being back is actual peak fiction. Am I shaking from the cold or from this chapter idc either way its so good.

127

u/GeneralUnlikely266 Feb 01 '24

Thats why one piece is peak fiction for me. Most stories, anime, mangas, etc introduce characters and villains for a short period of time to never talk about them again as soon as the arc in which they appeared is done. In One Piece it's the complete opposite. From major villains like Sir Crocodile, to minor characters like Dorry Brogy, Oimo and Kashii, everyone comes back to the story to play a role. Hell even wapol is back.

I'm only waiting for don krieg, kuro and enel now ahaha Superb storytelling from Oda

Out of all the hype moments in this chapter:

  • The Giants arriving

  • Luffy punching Kizaru

  • Bonney seeing Nika for the first time

My favorite is still that Vegapunk made it sure that, no mather what, Kuma will always protect his daughter.

Kizaru's looks like he's in depression in that panel lol. I think he's done fighting I guess - looks like he's lost his will to fight. And with the giants now here, looks like Luffy can focus on Spidey?

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but this chapter made me feel something about One Piece that I've never felt before. It's the first time I've truly felt the power and significance of Luffy's Nikka and the tale surrounding it. When I saw Bonney and Vegapunk speak, my heart skipped a beat. And to top it all off, when Brogy and Dorry appeared and mentioned his name, I was simultaneously thrilled and scared because it signaled that One Piece is nearing its end. I've been following this series since a young age, and honestly, even at 34 years old, I'm not sure how to accept its conclusion.

Peak fiction.

Another reason why I love One Piece- the world constantly feels alive. In this example, none of us fathomed Dorry and Broggy coming, but in hindsight, it makes perfect sense. They're the next island over, saw the news and could easily get here in a day being giants. Oda constantly makes his world feel alive, whereas other authors comparatively fail at this.

Dorry and Broggy look like they about to annihilate the fleet, Luffy 100% and is getting the plot hype, Sanji is blocking admiral attacks, Bonney now controls the pacifistas, the giant robot is about to get involved, Zoro and Jinbei soon to join, Kizaru is obviously feeling a the pain, both emotional and physical, Saturn is about to have a realization of the situation he is in.

Absolute banger chapter and I can’t get over how the best is still yet to come, next chapter will be Kuma and Bonney fully acknowledging Luffy as Nika. We’re going to get the reunion with Dorry and Broggy with Luffy and Ussop soon. The iron giant will likely make its move really soon. Saturn vs. Luffy is incoming. Blackbeard’s ship is still out there somewhere. Like WTF. PeakHead is going crazy, best post time skip arc already for me.
