Well-being 😌✌ 100th percentile MCAT Gods, bestow upon me your wisdom (01/11 tester)

So, y'all may remember I made a post a while ago about score decay. Well, we're about to get a real life lesson in it lol.

Context: I studied from June to August (my 524 on Fl2 is at the end of August). Didn't touch the content or Anki until December 16th. Since then, I've skimmed the Kaplan books + 86 pg doc again, and finished the qpacks and working on the SBs. I plan to see all of my 5.8k anki cards once (special study session and just steam through em)

Took FL 3 last week, got a 521. Taking FL 4 tomorrow, then FL 5 next week.

Qpack %ages: B/B 1,2 (87%, 79%), Chem (77%), Physics (81%), CARS 1,2 (88%, 87%).

Section bank (about halfway thru): B/B (88%), C/P (73%), P/S (80%)

I'm aiming for a 522+ score, so, those of y'all who scored above that on the real thing, what do you advise in the final stretch? Must-review resources, etc.

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” 2 weeks left! excited but nervous. advice?

hey yall! i test 1/10, yesterday i hit my highest score on a FL, 509! My goal is the 510s so i’m sooo close. I’m gonna take 2 more FLs before test day, so hopefully i stay in that range! Now comes the hard part, pulling it all together on test day. I’m a nervous wreck when it comes to standardized testing. I’m someone where the adrenaline hurts more than helps. What are some test taking tips specific to MCAT that you would recommend? I really wanna score my full potential on this thing.

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” Are you allowed to whisper to yourself during the exam?

I've seen people wearing headphones in some of their promotional videos, and was wondering if we are allowed to "mutter" really quietly. During CARS I find myself "whispering" quietly to keep my train of thought going which has worked so far (90% on CARS) and was wondering if that's allowed or we are expected to be completely silent? Just wanted to know so I can practice silently if needed!

Well-being 😌✌ There is Hope 1/16. Blueprint FL4

Post image

Got a 505 back in August and I’m retaking 1/16. I been using Blueprint FL 1-4 and I got scared when seeing a score drop from a retake of AAMC FL 3 a month and a half ago (510).

Today is the last day with Blueprint and will take 4 more FL of retaken AAMC before my actual exam. That one popular post states that my 509 on FL4 of BP translate into an ~517. Would you agree? Am I in a good spot?

Tool/Resource/Tip πŸ€“πŸ“š Exam reflections

All through university I have hated doing reflections and thought they were so dumb. But after one of my exams I kinda just was rambling on paper about how I did and trying to motivate myself to be better. Now before I write an exam I will write my goals down for this exam and then after the exam and reviewing it I will write how I thought I did then do some motivation talk for myself. This has been absolutely huge for keeping my head up on bad exams and helping me see why I did good on good exams. I really recommend anyone struggling to do this.

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” How should I study?? Advice

Hey guys i’m very confused and I have no idea what i should do. i think im gonna reschedule my exam that i’m supposed to take on 11th Jan as i took a fl for the first time day and got a 498 (i took the diagnostic half length test from blueprint last month and i got a 491- i am aiming to get above 510-512), i have literally just have days and i'm still on the content review stage (i've only done phys, biochem, bio, genchem). i started studying a month and a half ago and i had 19 credits this sem which prevented me from putting in time to study. i hate myself because i truly thought i could do it but as the date is getting closer i’m doubting myself and im really conflicted on whether i should just postpone it. i came into college thinking that i would go to med school without a gap year and all my friends are 100% gonna apply this year and all this pressure is too much for me to the point i literally feel like its breaking me (on top of everything i have been crazy sick for 2ish weeks with the flu which turned to acute asthmatic bronchitis). i also feel so lost with what i’m supposed to be studying cause so far i’ve been doing kaplan books when i should be doing questions and anki. and whenever i study i feel like i don’t retain anything. should i reschedule or push to do as much and take the test and hope to get a decent score and just apply this cycle or save the stress and just reschedule. i think i know i need to reschedule but the only thing thats stopping me is that i would lose the chance to apply this year and the fact that im gonna be left behind when all my friends would possibly get into med school. what should i do to stop the pressure and stress of thinking im not ready/ good enough and that i will be left behind if i cancel? what would make me feel better? Should i just grind it out and see what i get as my first score and then decide? if i do postpone how should i study??

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” 510 --> 515 by January 10th?

Need some studying advice, so if anyone has any good tips/strategies I'd love to hear them!

This was the breakdown for my latest taken (taken Monday). For context, I didn't have the chance to study v seriously till Thanksgiving break since my classes this semester were very pre-lecture heavy, and I haven't taken physics 2, so lost some points in chem/phys just due to content.

I have ~2 weeks to study and am studying full-time. I will finish reading the Kaplan physics book today, but from then on, I'm not sure what I should be working on to improve my score. Any advice? (I would attribute a good portion of my errors to not understanding how I should be answering the question/misreading).

Vent 😑😀 I have to be honest about anking

β€’ Upvotes

I’ve tried all major anki decks. Anking, jacksparrow and Aidan and I’ll keep it real, b/b is bad for anking. 125 on my first AAMC full length. Switched over to jacksparrow anki deck and just crammed it crazy and got 130 in like a week and a bit on the next full length. Mind you, I’ve matured anking b/b. Now c/p anking is nice but I think could be more comprehensive and p/s well it’s pretty awesome but b/b isn’t comprehensive enough at all.

The good thing about c/p is that you don’t really need anki for it, just doing practice problems will make you good at it. I guess that’s what uEarth is for but trust me if you didn’t do any Uearth and just did jacksparrow b/b and matured the deck, you can’t get less than 129 on a full length, it’s that comprehensive. As I did the jacksparrow b/b, there was so much information not on anking that was on jacksparrow that it started to make me depressed. I tried Aidan and got too overwhelmed but I can imagine that deck can get you to 131+. Then when I took the full length, questions I got right were solely because of the jacksparrow deck. I’d be like β€œoh shit, I saw that concept in his card, it has to be…….”. I don’t attribute the jump to my reading skills since I am garbage at cars, it’s my worst section in every single full length. I haven’t even looked at the c/p for jacksparrow, I’ll probably avoid it since my exam is in 2-3 weeks. Regrets=kinda but my scores have been 507 range which isn’t good or bad. If I had done jacksparrow since day 1, I wonder what that score would look like.

This isn’t really a vent post either but idk what other tag to put it at. It’s more or less a reflection tag.

Vent 😑😀 Im cooked on Usphere

I took the unscored AAMC a week back. I knew that is like the easiest exam so im not too thrilled. Got a 507. If i could recreate that on 1/11, i think my secondaries could pull through.

But uworld kickin me hard. im done 41 percent and have 57% accuracy. im doing 60 question blocks for all subjects. Chemistry is actually killing me. i inished p/s and almost biochem. im not too worried about cars. but the c/p is destroyuing me.

i think im cooked. i even woke up early today and i still cant do shit. i feel like im seeing new types of quiestions and mateials every question.

Tool/Resource/Tip πŸ€“πŸ“š 1/10 Tester burnout

I took a FL yesterday (it will be my last one until the exam because I am so tired of taking them). I know that I can do well if I grind these next two weeks but I am so tired of studying and my brain feels numb. I already decided to take a day off on January 1st, but I am finding it hard to find the motivation to keep studying. Any advice?

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” How do we reduce CARS inconsistency?

Been trying to improve at cars but im fluctuating a lot between sets and passages. Is there a way to reduce this variation, like focus related, or should a lot of practice do the job?

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” First FL in 1 week! I'm a little nervous

I know this is only a diagnostic test, and it's to help me determine where I stand and get a feel for the test, but I'm still nervous! Lmao, this is my first time studying for the MCAT, and honestly, everything is okay.

I'm about two weeks into content review(CR), and I realized it's okay not to understand everything I'm learning because Anki will help me retain it, and Uworld will help me apply it and break it down.

However, do y'all have any advice or tips while I take it?

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” how to approach physics when I dont remember anything <3

hi friends, i am testing january 24th and have largely forgotten most if not all of the content review i've done for physics. i took physics nearly three years ago and remember next to nothing. im not really sure what to do since there isn't much time. is it worth it to go through exam krackers to hammer everything in? i was thinking of going through the milesdown physics deck + essential equations, supplement with van does chem, and go ham with uworld but my understanding is still lacking to fully comprehend and answer uworld questions so ive been avoiding them. do i just head straight to the qpack? im not sure what to do and would appreciate any advice on how to best optimize my time!! thank you so much for reading!!!

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” Push my test date?

Hi everyone, so I am scheduled to take my mcat on April 26 but I haven’t started studying. I do work Monday-Friday but each day is a little different. It depends on how long I take to do my job but usually I’m out by 3. I have no motivation to study and my family doesn’t understand how important this test is so they will usually ask me to do chores after work or go with them somewhere. I took a bp half diagnostic test and scored a 478. This leads me to my question. Should I push my exam another month? I’m thinking maybe end of May if there is testing day near me? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” How to up my P/S Score? and General Advice

I am testing on 1/10 and hoping to get a 520+. Right now, my AAMC FL have been as follows:

Unscored: 521 (131/130/130/130)

Free Practice (FL 5?): 523 (132/131/130/130)

FL 1: 519 (131/128/131/129)

FL 2: 519 (132/129/130/128)

Obviously, especially on the last two I took, I am missing a lot of easy points from P/S that could really help boost my score. What advice do y'all have for getting those extra points, I feel like I just need to review the content some more but I gave my Kaplan book to a friend and dont know where to start reviewing it more?

Also, does anyone have any other general advice to help me out? Thanks!

Question πŸ€”πŸ€” relationship between blood pressure and water reabsorption?

When I google "how does blood pressure affect water reabsorption", results say that "High blood pressure leads to decreased water reabsorption in the kidneys, meaning more water is excreted as urine."

However, I also know that ADH increases blood pressure by increasing water reabsorption. Can someone clarify what is right for me?
