Ask Kurds Why do Arabs, Turks, & Persians try to deny the history of the Kurds?

Post image

I’m a westerner and I’m surprised that Arab Syrians tell me the SDF & Kurds are “occupiers” in Northern Syria. In Western history books we learn that the ancestors of the Kurds were around way before Turks, Arabs or Persians established kingdoms, empires & states in the region. Kurdish dynasties & kingdoms have contributed a lot to the Middle East. Why do Turks, Arabs, & Iranians deny historical facts about Kurds?

News/Article Rojava effectively bans using PKK flags, symbols

"Kurdish authorities in northeast Syria (Rojava) have instructed all institutions and political parties to display only emblems and banners representing the administration, a senior politician from the ruling coalition told Rudaw English on Friday. The directive effectively prohibits the use of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) symbols and flags amid calls for the enclave to distance itself from the armed group and efforts to have a unified Kurdish front in the new Syria.  "

Rojava Salih Muslim: We are part of Syria and want to be included in the solution

Democratic Union Party (PYD) Presidential Council Member and former co-chair Salih Muslim spoke to MA News Agency about Turkey's recent Syria policy, meetings with Damascus and approach to the Kurds.

Salih Muslim, Turkey's two recent visits to Damascus were part of new plans for the Kurdish people in the region, stated that there was no clear information about the content of the talks. Muslim said, "We do not know exactly what was discussed in the talks Turkey held with Damascus. However, it seems that Turkey is giving the message, 'Don't come to the table with the Kurds, don't establish any relations with the Autonomous Administration.' At the center of all their policies is to prevent the Kurds acquisitions."

Turkey says it wants peace in Syria, but, Muslim said, "these statements are not honest. Turkey says it wants a Syria cleansed of terrorism. However, their definition of ‘terrorist’ includes the Kurdish people and the people in the Autonomous Administration who are living peacefully in the region. They shamelessly describe the YPG and SDF as terrorists and use this as an excuse to intervene in Syria. This is unacceptable. Turkey’s stance resembles France’s mandate over Syria in the past.

Today, Turkey wants to take Syria under its own control with all its might. However, this is unacceptable for neither the people nor the future of Syria."

Muslim said: "The SDF, YPG, and YPJ emerged after 2011 as a result of attacks on our people and our achievements. We organized to defend ourselves on our own lands. If they were to lay down their weapons, this would only be possible if the threats are eliminated. If the attacks on our people stop and assurance is given, there will be no need for weapons.

However, we are still under threat at the moment, and for this reason, we cannot give up our defense. The threat to not only the security of the Kurdish people, but also to the Arabs, Syriacs, Turkmens, and all other people living in the region must be eliminated. As long as our achievements are targeted, these forces represent our natural right to defend ourselves."

Salih Muslim said that there has been no direct conflict between HTS and the Kurds to date, and added: “The messages we received were that they would not attack the Kurds, and they have kept their word so far. Groups under Turkish control are constantly attacking us. HTS's recent statements were that all armed forces in Syria should be connected to Syria. We do not completely reject this. We also do not want Syria to be separated. However, this is possible if the threats against our people are removed. Jolani is also against the existence of groups under Turkish control and wants to break them up. If Turkey withdraws its hand from Syria and ends its efforts to create separation there, we can reach an agreement with al-Jolani."

Muslim pointed out that they have ongoing talks with the ENKS (Kurdish National Council in Syria), and said that despite Turkey’s policies to prevent the unity of the Kurds, they want to achieve positive results. Muslim added: "We have always been in favor of unity so that the Kurds can achieve their goals and their demands are met.

Our talks with the ENKS are ongoing, despite their links with Turkey. They came together with the coalition and Mr. Mazlum Abdi and expressed their demands. We plan to hold talks with other Kurdish parties in the future. We aim to go to Damascus, representing all the peoples. We want to solve the problems with the new Syrian administration. We are also a part of Syria and want to be included in the solution process. We can put everything on an official basis by enacting laws together. Resolving problems through dialogue is the healthiest way for all of us."

Kurdistan Just heard about my cousin about getting out of prison somewhere in Tel Rifaat after paying bail.

hear ye, hear ye. i just heard that my cousin, a Kurd that isn't even pro-PKK/YPG, lived somewhere near Tel Rifaat. Was put into prison by those Torkie backed dogs, paid bail and is now living with his family together with other people with nothing. House and all lost.

But online there are Torks and Syrian Arabs that are kissing Torks' asses who don't know remotely about the shit Kurds have to deal with. They're not even PKK/YPG, but merting with resistance is automatically PKK/YPG to them.

When ill-will actions are done upon Palestinians, these fucking babies cry.

When you deal with them online, keep on fighting. Make our voices loud and ensure that whatever their counter-argumentation is, it will be always deemed invalid!

100 Women and children buried in mass grave but Anfal is not still recognized as genocide. How it is not a genocide? What are Kurdish lawyers and politicians doing? Why are they not taking action for these massacres of poor Kurds to be recognized as genocide?

Rojava Seikh Maqshuk: The Kurds have the Soul of Syria

Sheikh Maqshuk: “Joulani may have Damascus, but we Kurds hold the soul of Syria in our hands.”

He emphasized, “We must stop seeing ourselves as small. This mindset is our weakness. In truth, we are far greater than we realize.”

“We control the water, the oil, the petrol, the food, the rice—Syria’s core lifelines and values are in our hands. Joulani cannot ignore the Kurds.”

Ask Kurds What’s something good to do for Eid?

Hi there. I need some advice. What’s like a standard Eid celebration that you’d normally do in a Kurdish household? Like a big meal is a definite, but any other details? I live in Europe for context and we don’t have relatives who live nearby.

Ask Kurds A question regarding Syrian Kurds (SDF) and a post-Assad Syria

First of all, I want to apologize for any ignorance that may come from this post. I am neither Syrian nor Kurdish. I am an American that has followed the Syrian civil war closely since around 2014 (ish). I wanted to ask how the Kurds, particularly Syrian Kurds, have felt about Assads fall, and the general course of the Syrian civil war.

From the outside looking in, it always seemed as though the SDF had a bit of a "cold peace" with the SAA, and viewed the SAA and Assad as the lesser evil to the Islamist militants trying to topple him....if only because Turkey/Erdogan seems hellbent on destroying you, and the proxies despised Alawites.

Therefore, an SDF-SAA alliance, even if temporary, shaky, and circumstantial, seemed only natural given the circumstances. However, I could be completely wrong about this. My questions are as follows

  1. What is/was the general sentiment of Assads fall over in SDF/YPG controlled Syria?

  2. What is the sentiment of what is replacing him?

  3. What do you expect to see for the future?

Any additional thoughts are welcomed.
