Op-Ed Advertising the worst possible way

I don't even know where to start, but I've been subjected to an ad while watching streaming that was the worst thing I've seen in a long while...

A woman removes a pie from an over and says "Eddie, the pie came out crunch crunch, like you like it" and then the somber music kicks in... 'Bring them home' plays, a song sung by 1000 Israelis as a plea for the hostage release, as the voice over begins to tell us about the 100 hostages in the fictional Hamas Terror Tunnels. It shows a table at Thanksgiving, Christmas and focused on the empty seats.

The ad ends with a title card to bring them home, and shown sponsorship from The State of Israel. No website with info. No requests for donations. Just a crawling sensation down my spine and a creepy "How do you do fellow kids?" vibe.

I need to know what was the point? From the ridiculous nonsense slang to the music that makes Sarah MacLaclan's ASPCA adverts seem jolly, who was it designed to appeal to, and what actions were they hoping to inspire?

If it wasn't aired every time I started something, I would have not thought twice about it, but I'm seeing it so often, I needed to vent about it somewhere.

The point is very simple to me, and is in fact what all Zionist propaganda is about. What they really advocate for isn't a solution, the hostages back, or even anything against Palestinians... They just want people to stop hating Israel, no matter how bad it is. The point of this ad is to show the world, "we're the victims, we're the good guys, so stop hating on us!" This obviously does nothing to support the hostages (what are the viewers supposed to do? Call Hamas?), they just want to feel like the good guys.

Based on what you're saying, the intended audience seems obvious: white, conservative-leaning Christians. It is meant to "remind" those people that Israel is "fighting for traditional Judeo-Christian values" and to support the state because of that. Of course it doesn't even make sense internally. You know who isn't know for celebrating Christmas or Thanksgiving? Fucking Israelis.

I do not know. I do not understand the point of most of these "bring them home" things.

My father sent me a video of a DRONE SHOW with like lit up drones that was supposed to be about bringing home the hostages.

I don't get it.

I like how zionists have just gone blind to the fact that israel also has hostages there over a thousand Palestinians intered in israeli prisons for either extremely small offences or nothing at all

I have recently seen more than ten reels on instagram, with Israelis eating food, in a mocking nature, their mocking the Palestinians in gaza. They also said to bring the hostages home, at this point, I am unsure if they realize this, but the indiscriminate bombing and destruction isn’t going to bring the hostages home, in fact, I’m sure, as sad as it is, their being killed by all the bombs.

Israel has been open about their use of the Hannibal principle in regards to this situation, so sadly, them being dead already is a likely scenario

Edit: spelling

It's propaganda meant to pull on the heartstrings of people who are questioning their Zionism

An ad blocker would be very useful with this.

Sadly, it was a Hulu video. I did cancel my account and told them it was solely for that reason

Same old narrative battle. Make sure the lie gets halfway around the world before truth has its pants on.

Many hostages were active duty soldiers I.e. fair game

fictional Hamas Terror Tunnels

Huh?

Second this question. There are several reliable reports of tunnels (not in ToI). It doesn’t mean all hostages are/were held there, but this snide little comment discrediting something that arguably is true doesn’t help the larger point you are making about this extremely creepy ad. We can question Hasbara and defend Palestinians without having to engage in propaganda or lies ourselves.

And before anyone says anything, I am in no way suggesting that tunnels or basements or anything else underground justifies war or bombing or violence.

The original claims of tunnel networks are from The Times of Israel, a known Hasbara outlet, so the veracity of the claim is dubious.

Name any news source, I’ll provide you their reporting that Hamas uses tunnels militarily.

The Times of Israel, a known Hasbara outlet

Not a hasbara outlet. I don't like their editorial stance at all, but they're a legit news site.

The claims of tunnel networks didn't emerge with them either. And it's in virtually any mainstream or independent news outlet with evidence to back up. The tunnel network was actually not just for military purposes, it was also for their economy since they smuggled stuff from Egypt through them.

I think the fictional bit may be the Gaza hospitals. I mean not all of them had Hamas tunnel networks under them, right? We know for example that Israel's claims about Hamas usage of hospitals as command and control centers was to a large extent false, I'm thinking the hospital tunnel claims, at least some of them had to be false as well.
