I buy and install too many games. I've made the decision going forward to only have 2 games installed at a time. Right now it's Stalker 2 and Metaphor, I will try not to buy or install any more games until I beat those lmao.

Classic mistake, packing in two games that you could play for an obscene amount of hours smh
Gotta have your 100-hour JRPG alongside your 10-hour indie adventure game, so you keep one of the two rotating out!
Joking aside, those sound like two really solid choices. :)

Other day Pirates of the Caribbean came on the tv while I was at work in the breakroom, and its one of my favorite movies. And I started thinking about all the movies I consider my absolute favorites and came to the conclusion, there are a lot of movies I like because I cant find any other movie close to them.
Since PotC there really havent been many other pirate movies, or at least any good ones, which makes them stand out a lot more. And with the original Jurassic Park movies I love them so much because there just really arent many movies like it outside the franchise. Sure some people have attempted other live action dinosaur movies, but theyve been to varying degrees and often not good. Even the newer JP movies, though not really all that great, are still decent compared to a lot of the other live action attempts that come out which helps them stand out.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Regardless of how good the game itself is... This title is absolute ass I can't believe they actually went with it

As someone who likes puzzle games and literary games, stuff like Myst and Outer Wilds and Return Of The Obra Dinn and Disco Elysium, I kinda felt left out last night. Usually they throw a bone for people like me; a Talos Principle 2 or a puzzle game from those people who made Limbo. Last night, with the exception of a very vague project from the people who made Ico, there wasn't much there for me to be interested in. It was shooters, slashers, AAA cinematic things, two co-op games (they both look kinda fun), some vague anime stuff, and maybe a farming game or two. Thematically, every game other than one set in Italy was either some far future other planet sci-fi or a Nordic fantasy vaguely similar to Skyrim on down.
The world of gaming I am interested in and experience is drifting even further away from the mainstream gaming movement. Hopefully indies keep the good stuff coming.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. People loved the games you mentioned, and want more. There will be more.
3/4 of those games came out in 2018/2019. Tunic came out in 2022. Void Stranger came out last year. Animal Well came out this year (though the literary element isn't really present there).
IMO, people who are into games like these (me, for example) have been eating better than ever.
Mainstream gaming has never focused on those types of games; it will 100% be indies who keep it going. The games that you mentioned (outside of Myst, I suppose) are all from indie developers, as well as the games I mentioned, and it will continue that way.

You probably have, but I would be remiss if I didn't make absolutely sure you'd played Lorelei and the Laser Eyes this year.
I was a bit disappointed we didn't see a Wanderstop trailer, but not that disappointed because honestly I'd rather go into it blind.

Kinda wild how the entire ps4 generation naughty dog had no new IP. Maybe it's not that wild. Maybe that's just normal given how long games take to make. Still kinda wild to think that that studio has only been doing uncharted and last of us for the last 20 years

Most studios only do one IP for years and even decades because existing IPs are easier to sell. FromSoft effectively does the same thing it's just that the "IP" is a genre, they're doing the same thing over and over but with new titles and different themes. Rockstar hasn't had a new IP since, what, Manhunt?
Just the climate we're in. As games become more expensive to make you'll see less studios taking risks. And it doesn't help that people constantly whine about IPs being "abandoned" as it further encourages studios to steer clear of starting new IPs.

Honestly, it only makes me more awestruck at RGG studio's output.
People are already kind of in awe that they manage to release a Yakuza game every single year, and that's impressive in It's own right given how big yet high quality those games are.
But now they're branching out even further. Yakuza plays nothing like Super Monkey Ball which plays nothing like Virtua Fighter which plays nothing like Project Century (from what we've seen) -- It's one thing when Yakuza and Judgment are two IPs that essentially share the same formula, but these are all games that have very little in common outside of some surface observations.
I hope that they can sustain this without a big stumble along the way.

The other day I remember the Game Room, and I was wondering if anyone else remembers long forgotten Microsoft concept? Microsoft sure has introduced and basically dumped a lot of concepts. Its a shame too because at least I feel like they could at least make like a tech theme park, where its just a huge arcade filled with games based around their concept designs and gimmicks. One for this, one for that holo lens thing. Something that better utilizes the Kinect closer to its original vision. Something.

Yknow I think I'm just really stoked we finally know what Naughty Dog is up to
Although I would assume that this is the only game they're gonna get out on PS5 before it's time for the next generation, unfortunately.

What were the two games Jason Schreier had implied were crazy? There were some crazy announcements all around? Elden Ring DLC was crazy but not hard to believe. Same with a new Ueda game. Okami and Onimusha were the most far out announcements to me, but I wonder what Schreier was talking about specifically.

Okami has to be one. Personally, I think the other is Nightreign because it came so far out of left field and so soon after Shadow of the Erdtree, but I could buy that it was Onimusha (especially if both came from a single source inside Capcom) or the Ueda game.

The Game Awards is nice since I have no expectations on what'll be announced and not wishing what game I want to win.
I noticed that Geoff Keighley has taken all the criticisms about not mentioning the layoffs and gave way to that with him mentioning it, featuring Amir Satvat who helped laid-off devs find new jobs, and letting Swen give out a speech about the layoffs. I fully agree with Swen, since you cannot really foster creativity by constantly laying off talented people.
