As someone who likes puzzle games and literary games, stuff like Myst and Outer Wilds and Return Of The Obra Dinn and Disco Elysium, I kinda felt left out last night. Usually they throw a bone for people like me; a Talos Principle 2 or a puzzle game from those people who made Limbo. Last night, with the exception of a very vague project from the people who made Ico, there wasn't much there for me to be interested in. It was shooters, slashers, AAA cinematic things, two co-op games (they both look kinda fun), some vague anime stuff, and maybe a farming game or two. Thematically, every game other than one set in Italy was either some far future other planet sci-fi or a Nordic fantasy vaguely similar to Skyrim on down.

The world of gaming I am interested in and experience is drifting even further away from the mainstream gaming movement. Hopefully indies keep the good stuff coming.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. People loved the games you mentioned, and want more. There will be more.

3/4 of those games came out in 2018/2019. Tunic came out in 2022. Void Stranger came out last year. Animal Well came out this year (though the literary element isn't really present there).

IMO, people who are into games like these (me, for example) have been eating better than ever.

Mainstream gaming has never focused on those types of games; it will 100% be indies who keep it going. The games that you mentioned (outside of Myst, I suppose) are all from indie developers, as well as the games I mentioned, and it will continue that way.

You probably have, but I would be remiss if I didn't make absolutely sure you'd played Lorelei and the Laser Eyes this year.

I was a bit disappointed we didn't see a Wanderstop trailer, but not that disappointed because honestly I'd rather go into it blind.
