My first time butchering whole chickens
Whole chicken was on sale, so I bought two, but I live alone, so I needed to prep. Breasts and thighs were deboned, meat was portionned, some frozen for later.

Old school butcher here. You did well. Shocking, nowadays so many folks are helpless when it comes the geometry and breaking down of meat. I still make it a point to buy a whole chicken on grocery day. The pricing is hard to beat. The breast quarter can not be found in the stores anymore because of the popularity of wings.

Thank you, means a lot from a butcher. Some youtube videos helped (other videos made me facepalm as they were terrible).
The savings were worth it, plus I kept the bones for a broth. No waste and more meat for the money.

You are so right. A worthy YouTube video can be magic. In one of my lives, I was a Navy instructor for many years. I learned that some folks have no idea how to convey an idea. A little " know how" around the meat case will save you quite bit of money over your lifetime. Looks like you are headed in the right direction!
