I painted my engine with color matched paint from napa in October(60-70 fahrenheit) and I can still dent it with my thumb. Any tips on how I should proceed. (The tape has been removed, this is an old picture)

About 40-50% of the cars we passed on the road today had no headlights on or only had the dim side lights. Do automatic lights not work in fog for these modern cars? Seems super sketchy

Yes it's overlooked, but a foot up and to the right this could have killed my wife. Always re-torque your lugs after a rotation or tire change, you could kill someone.

When out to my car to go pick up groceries and noticed this! I work from home and barely drive my car unless it's to do small errands like today. My car is a 2022 Toyota Corolla. No one usually parks next to me either! The only thing I can think is maybe someone delivering food or whathaveyou banged tf out of it, but it also looks like it's starting to happen on the other side! No other issues or damage that I can tell! I'm so confused.

With the engine off, does it make a difference whether the car is in neutral, drive, or reverse? Is there any risk of damage?

My 2020 RDX AWD got a nail in one of the rear tires- can’t be patched. Rest of the tires have atleast 10k left in them. The shop put a used tire on as a replacement - it has very similar wear/ depth as the others and the same size. The original 3 are Goodyear eagle RS-A and the replacement is a Goodyear eagle sport. The pattern is slightly different between these 2 models. Is this likely to cause any damage to the differential or drivetrain?

Corolla has 180k on it, a squealing belt when you first start it, no A/C, and the dash screens work intermittently. Has a sunroof.

Or,

Civic has 230k on it, basic package. Paint is damaged/sun damaged? on the roof, trunk and hood, but no rust. Seats are stained. And only one working fob.

I am a newbie driver in the Philippines, driving a 2024 Nissan Terra. I recently parked my car in an inclined sloped parking space, rear first so it's front is facing towards the main road. The fuel indicator is also turned on recently that time and it has 1 bar so I thought it was no big deal

After I played badminton, I went back to the car to cool it off then went back to pay the the court. When I went back to the car the engine shut off and lights on the dash board suddenly turned on. Initially I thought it was the battery but clearly it was not since the car has power. I realized it was the fuel but I was shocked since it has 1 bar left and the indicator turned on just recently. So I decided to move the car by placing it on Neutral since the road infront of the inclined parking space is flat. As soon as I did that, the steering wheel locked and I was in the middle of the flat road.

I asked help from the bystanders to push the car and set it by the side since the steering wheel was already slightly to the right. when they were pushing I realized the brakes went incredibly hard the electronic handbrake was not turning on but I can still move the shifter and set it immediately to park, since there was a car infront of me. It stopped after 10 clicks from the engine or transmission. I rested the car for 30 minutes and the engine went back again.

Until now, i feel like I couldve handle the situation better LOL. Any thoughts I could possibly learn from yall?

Is it time to retire this car?

It already has a faulty SRS airbag system (dealer did a diagnostic and was quoted $3k to repair). The last few months it was intermittently showing a check engine light and after I went to the mechanic, I had to replace the thermostat. This was literally yesterday, no other codes were being thrown by the system outside of the thermostat.

Now for the second time in a week and after replacing the thermostat, the car has stalled out after being in idle for a minute or two. The problem is, this happened in traffic on the freeway…not good.

I’m wondering if it’s even worth running further diagnostics and repairs? It starts back up easily shortly after stalling out. But man I can’t keep throwing money into this car - it’s a 2008 mazda6 with 115k miles.

I've been getting more and more into the world of cars and this one stumped me, and I can't seem to find any info about it. The 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B is what I'm looking at in this case. I know what the regular hood scoop is for on cars that have functional ones, but what about these tiny vents on the hood? What are they used for?

Recently my car was totaled, looking for a fun daily. Worried about reliability, the one I’m looking at currently has 116k and has never been modified, owner lives locally. Thoughts?

2017 Jeep Renegade.

I replaced a bad alternator and bad battery in a 2017 Jeep Renegade. I replaced the belt too because I figured why not. Ran perfectly afterwards for a month. Now I'm having issues again. I can't get any sign of electricity when trying to start it. Nothing lights up when pressing the start button. All connections look good. Went to jump the car and it still won't start.

I'm not a car savvy guy and this has been quite the learning curve for me. I'm not sure what else could fail in between the battery and pressing the button that would prevent the vehicle to be energized, even when jumped.

Any ideas? I'm not sure what my next troubleshooting steps would be from here...

I own a 2020 Toyota Avalon Limited, and I'm experiencing an issue with the heating system that I wanted to inquire about. Occasionally, after turning the car off for around 5 minutes following a decent drive, the heating system fails to activate when the car is restarted. Specifically:

• The climate control panel doesn’t seem to “boot up.”
• The heater and heated seats remain off.
• No air is coming through, and the system does not respond to adjustments.

This issue first occurred last winter about 3 or 4 times and has occurred again twice this winter. The system seems to resolve itself if the car is turned off for a longer period (15-20 minutes).

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with their Toyota Avalon or other vehicles in the Toyota lineup? Any advice or insight would be appreciated, particularly if there’s an underlying issue with the electrical or climate control system.

I don’t recall any noises or anything of that sort. This must’ve happened within the last few days. All I’ve done is gotten an automatic car wash at Tommy’s Express and driven around. The only explanation I can think of is the car wash or me driving out of Walmart which had a very steep exit. Also, wondering how much you think it should cost to fix something like this?

Im looking at this 2015 F150 5.0 with 120k miles. I took some pictures underneath the truck and it looks like the transfer case is seeping and maybe a few other issues. Looking at the photos is this something I should pass up? Is it fine enough?

Hey, so I have a 2014 Lexus is 350 for a while and there was always a little tiny rattle that sound like it somewhere around the battery, I tried looking for it and even took it out to see if there’s anything there, also it only happens while idling if I start driving it goes away “, maybe something loose lmk if any of you had this?

So I used to have an ex police interceptor BA XR6 turbo. I bought it at a used car Auction with about 80k’s km on it. It was a 5 speed manual which is pretty rare these days. I punished that thing, every set of lights was a drag race and every corner was sideways. I eventually started modding it, exhaust, wastegate, cold air intakes, intercooler and injectors. It was a weapon. I was on my P plates at the time, so it was debadged and an absolute sleeper. It was around the late 2000’s. I was on the way to work one morning and Iined up at the lights against a hsv… I thought I am gonna need every bit off boost I can out this to gap this bloke. So I dialled in the High boost tune and gave it the goods I smoked the tyres through first and into second. When I went to go into third I missed the shift and redlined the car in neutral. I was young, I heard the engine pop then loud rattling and all the dash lights came on. I thought fuck, I am gonna be late to work.

I Eventually get my car into a tow truck and sent it of to the local ford dealership to get looked at. When I heard back from the service centre the mechanic said they had found the issue… I was missing a piston in one of the cylinders… and there was a hole in the engine…

After a bit of back and forth I bought a new engine as the car had no warranty, Even if it did I would have undoubtedly voided it.

Anyway time went on, I grew up had a family sold that car bought others and a house, grew a business, so forth.

Then One day I day was asked to go on a tour of the old ford engine plant in Geelong. It was right before it was closing down. The guy leading us through the factory asked if anyone owned a ford or was motor enthusiast. I told him about my xr6 turbo and how I shot a piston through the block. And to my surprise knew all about it. Knew the colour of my car and the dealership it went back to. He informed me that after I damaged the engine that bad they sent it back to ford to make sure there wasn’t a fault with what was at the time a new engine. I had some engineers a little nervous until it landed and were able to find the cause of the damage. That is all. I miss that car 🚙
