Events Any plus-sizes burlesque shows in Los Angeles? NSFW

Looking for something fun to do in LA for my husband's birthday in February. He's a man of substance and likes him some thick women. I am looking for a burlesque show or something similar that includes or is made up of primarily plus sized individuals. Does anyone know if that is a thing? I have found a handful of burlesque troops but they all seem to be on the more slender side. Looking mainly for big, buxxomy ladies.

Eating Where can I eat eith normal prices?

I am on holiday with the family and I can't get my head around these insane prices on food. Back in the netherlands I can get a croissant for 50 cents and here I need to pay 9 dollars?!?

We are spending like 600 dollar a day (5 persons) for food!!!! And it's not even high quality. What's going on here? Do you all earn like 130000 a year?!

End rent sorry

So where can I buy some normal priced food?

Edit: thank you for your comments. I am in museum right now so I wont be talking for a while :)

About L.A. Tell me stuff about Musso & Frank?

I’m eating at Musso & Frank right now, I’ve actually lived in LA for over three years and only live about a mile away over in WeHo, but I dunno, I just had never made it to here until now.

So look, i mean, I’ve read the Wikipedia article and all—but tell me legit interesting things about this place?

About L.A. where can I file a complaint about our abysmal roads?

i cant think of a city with worse streets than LA.

where is my money going? why are roads so bad? why dont they f’ing fix them?

why cant they build smooth roads? are they having musicians try to build roads here?

i’d like to file a complaint because i lost count of how many times ive hit potholes and how many times ive hit full blown BUMPs in the middle of the road that arent supposed to be bumps. this is absolutely unacceptable.

Living Can I report a landlord for artificially inflating the price of apartments in my building?

Landlord (building mgmt co) has two units in building that they operate as an Airbnb in Hollywood. However, they also have these Airbnb units listed on apartments.com at an insane mark up.

Is this legal?

I'm interested in negotiating my rent as there's been a few issues with the building (someone's been letting their dog poo in building and LL has taken no action) so I'm curious what my options are.

About L.A. Is January a bad month to visit LA due to rain?

I visited LA a year ago last November and had a blast. There’s an opportunity to visit again mid January or late February. I heard January is a rainy month and that could diminish the activities like hiking. Any suggestions around that? Should I wait til February?

Recommendations Where to find Pittsburgh style pizza in LA?

Hey y’all!

I just got home from Pittsburgh after the holidays and…. I just can’t live without their pizza anymore. I adore it so much and I miss it every single day.

Does anyone know of any pizza places in Los Angeles that have a similar style? I prefer a thicker, doughier crust and a sweeter sauce with a good amount of cheese. Was hoping to get some good recommendations to try and satisfy my craving!!

Thank you in advance :)

About L.A. What should a Scott do in L.A?

Hello I'm a Scottish person here in L.A for ten days. I was wondering what kinds of things I should do?

I'm in the Manhattan beach aria, I've had a look around some of the shops but I'm looking for something bigger to do. Ive had a look on Google and I might go see the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum, cos I'm into that sort of thing.

I thought It would be a good idea to ask the people that actually live here what I should do. also some good coffee shop/food places or even snack recommendations would be great!

Thanks!

Any other question! Should I have my ADU permitted as a 1 bedroom or "rec space"?

We have a detached garage that we are considering converting into an ADU in NELA. Our old realtor mentioned once if we were to turn the garage into an ADU, we should do it as a rec space. Anyone have recommendations? I wasn't sure why he said that. thanks!

Visiting Can I get advice on my 11-Night LA Itinerary (Flying in from the UK)?

Hi everyone! My partner and I are flying into Los Angeles from the UK on Sunday, May 4th, arriving at LAX and staying until Thursday, May 15th. First ever visit but we’ve made some plans, but would love your input, recommendations, and advice to make the most of our time in LA and beyond. Here’s the draft itinerary:

Sunday, May 4th – Arrival • Arriving at LAX and checking into the Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood (WEHO) for 4 nights. • Plan to stay local and explore West Hollywood (relax, adjust to jet lag, and enjoy the area).

Monday, May 5th – Hollywood & Beverly Hills • Exploring Hollywood Boulevard, the Walk of Fame, and TCL Chinese Theatre. • Heading to Beverly Hills to see Rodeo Drive, Beverly Gardens Park, and enjoy some scenic driving.

Tuesday, May 6th – Downtown LA • Planning to visit The Broad Museum, Grand Central Market, Bradbury Building, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. • Any suggestions for must-see spots or great food in the area?

Wednesday, May 7th – Santa Monica & Venice Beach • A day at the coast exploring Santa Monica Pier and the Third Street Promenade. • Strolling along Venice Beach Boardwalk and checking out the canals. • Open to any restaurant or activity recommendations!

Thursday, May 8th – Saturday, May 10th: Reseda as a Base • Staying with family in Reseda (San Fernando Valley). • Planning a day at Universal Studios Hollywood (any tips for maximizing our time there?). • Another day visiting the Getty Center (is it worth visiting The Getty Villa too?).

Sunday, May 11th – Travel to Anaheim • Heading to Anaheim for 3 nights to focus on Disneyland and California Adventure. • Two full days (May 12th & 13th) at the parks. Any advice for managing time, reservations, or must-do rides and dining would be fantastic!

Wednesday, May 14th – Travel to Hermosa Beach • Leaving Anaheim in the morning and spending a relaxing day and night in Hermosa Beach. • Open to any tips for activities, food, or where to catch a great sunset.

Thursday, May 15th – Fly Home • Flying back to the UK from LAX in the evening.

Looking for advice on:

  1. Must-see spots or hidden gems I might be overlooking at any destination.
  2. Great places to eat or drink (from casual to something special).
  3. Efficient ways to get around LA and its surroundings. We know traffic is terrible, so don’t want to hire a car for the full time we are here. Just the times we will need it most.

Thanks in advance for your input :)

Recommendations Moving to L.A. and Looking for a Retro Hairstylist?

Hi all, I'm relocating to the L.A. in a couple weeks and I'm looking for a hairstylist who specializes in retro style haircuts for women (ideally 60s/70s style cuts similar to Tobias Bell in London)? I'll be mostly in the valley but willing to travel for someone special. I also did a botched job of trying to tone my hair red, so any amazing colorist suggestions are also welcome!

Recommendations Are Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach worth it?

Any other question! How to get into the Stahl House?

I've been going around LA to record scenic locations for a little end-of-year cinematic edit of 2024, and one of the last places on my list is the Stahl House in the hollywood hills.

My only question is: How do I get access to the Stahl House? Is it a scheduled tour, or can I just walk in any time and visit for free?

Thanks!

Visiting Where to stay + Airbnb or hotel?

Hi All,

Coming in for a couple days in July to be a tourist. Going to see a Sunday 1pm Dodger game, head towards Santa Monica pier for the sunset/evening, and the next day go to Universal.

From my research, it looks like I should probably stay in the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills area for central access to these places by rental car, but I am open to other suggestions if anyone has?

When we typically travel, we usually do an Airbnb large apartment or small house to get 2 bedrooms (one for us, one for kids) vs. a standard hotel room. However, the options for Airbnb seem to be pretty limited in this area. Would anyone have any accomodation recommendations, whether hotel, airbnb, etc.

Thank you!

Recommendations Cool places to check out?

Hi all! I’m 24 and live in LA with my family. I’ve been feeling stuck at home lately, so I’m looking for recommendations for places to check out. I don’t really drink, I don’t have any money, and I’d like to be back home by 5 o’clock-ish (yes, I know I’m a boring grandma blah blah blah). About me: I’m latina (Mexican), a USC student, don’t have a job, single, and don’t have very many friends. I’ve been considering museums and stuff but the cost of parking kind of puts me off. Any recs? I’d really appreciate it! Thank you!

Recommendations How to dress in winter?!

I’ll be in town next week for the Rose Bowl (so technically Pasadena). I’m a midwesterner. How do I dress? Will I be cold in a dress and sweater? Or should I stick to pants? Are people wearing sandals? Or too cold for that?

Events What are some good ideas for NYE in LA?

I’m a Danish exchange student who just finished a semester here in the U.S. and I’ll be in LA for NYE. I’m looking for some cool places/parties/events to kick off the new year. I’m staying in Santa Monica, so ideally it’d have to be somewhere that’s "easy" to get to. Any ideas?

If you had to choose between Santa Monica or Venice Beach because of time constraints, which would you choose and why? I would love recommendations for seafood or things to do at either of these places.

About L.A. Drummer moving to Echo Park, where should I be?

Yo! I'm moving to the area in February. What are some places I should check out to get into the local music scene? I'm mainly a drummer for hip hop/RnB artists currently and sometimes do rock and indie shows. I produce a lil bit and love working in the studio with beat makers/songwriters. Tryna hit the ground running when I get there, any advice is much appreciated ✌️
