Their trans identity is the subconscious equivalent to faking one's death to escape crushing debt. A shield and escape route for the problems in their life, thinking if they change their name, identity and body it'll be a way out of the problems they face in life. (which links directly to why the suicide rate of post-op self-identified trans ppl is so high, because its only after that the mental shield fully shatters and they're left with all their problems + a slew more + a body they not only don't identify with but can never be changed back)
The customer pierced their shield by correctly identifying them before they had a chance to say it. Making their subconscious have a panic attack which translated into them being consciously upset at being correctly identified.
If you self-identify as trans and someone correctly identifies you on sight and it doesn't upset you, then there's a much better chance you're really trans and not acting on a subconscious desire to escape your problems in life.

As a trans person, this is why people don't take us seriously. Someone genders you correct, and you are annoyed at them?
